Piper Mackenzie first sees him shirtless, standing in front of the military plane she was about to board, with one rather large wrench in his hand. The fact that he has the plane—the one that she’s about to be flying on for hours—in pieces only minutes before she’s set to take off on it doesn’t faze her. At least not until a flippant joke about dying in mid-air leaves his lips. The second time she … second time she sees him, he’s helping her from the wreckage of her car. The wreckage that he helped cause.
The third, he’s laying across from her in the same bed, and there’s no denying what happened the night before.
The fourth, well that time would be the first of many. Being Mrs. Jonah Crew has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
*****
Jonah Crew saw her for the first time as she stared at him in awe. It was snowing, the temp was in the negative degrees, and he couldn’t think about anything but her and the look of horror on her face when he tells a badly-timed joke.
The second time he sees her, his heart skips a beat, but not for the reason that one might think. Mainly, it’s due in part to the fact that his truck smashed into her car so hard that his chest hits the steering wheel and his heart decides to stop working right.
The third time, he’s fairly positive that he’s died and gone to heaven. At least, that’s what waking up next to a beautiful woman like her signifies, right?
The fourth? Well, he’s not quite sure how he got there, but he’s already said ‘I do’ so what’s a guy to do?

It Wasn’t Me is book 2 in the KPD Motorcycle Patrol series, however, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything without reading the first book.
Piper and Jonah meet on a flight home from Germany, and after a few chance encounters end up married in Vegas. Unable to deny their attraction they decide to go home and give their marriage a shot.
This story was definitely sweet, their love instant but truly pure. The steam level is off the charts, and while I wasn’t a huge fan of the drama thrown in it was minimal and didn’t ruin anything for me. I did feel the timelines and a few details were inconsistent, but overall I enjoyed this book and definitely want to check out more from this author.
I’ve been waiting for Piper Mackenzie’s story ever since meeting her in her sisters’ books. The Mackenzie family is a stubborn, comical, and a bit out of control group who love fiercely and have each other’s backs at all times, even if they do act without thinking at times, making an already chaotic situation, worse.
Piper is so much like her sisters and her mom that all of them together is either one heck of a good time or a situation that will send their men running for cover. I adore the bond they share and the fact that when Piper or her sisters make less than stellar decisions, or even good ones that are made without much thought, their mother and their father do what they can to help while also telling them like it is.
Jonah Crew is a bit of a live wire in the sense that he doesn’t hold anything back. Most people think he’s an asshole, which he would openly admit he is. But he’s different with Piper, and that fact is clear from their very first interaction. They complement each other extremely well, and Piper has a way with him that helps smooth out his rougher edges, not changing him, but bringing out a side of him that very few experience.
The way these two go about a relationship is definitely unconventional, but they make it work because what they’re building, even without truly knowing each other, is something special…is something that neither thought they would have and the fact that they find it with one another makes it that much more fulfilling.
From the start, It Wasn’t Me felt a bit different from Lani Lynn Vale’s usual story line…a lot less drama is within its pages, and it’s more lighthearted than most of her other stories. And, this is exactly the kind of book I needed! And I’m so glad that what happened in Vegas, didn’t stay there:)

It Wasn’t Me is a story about fate and finding that one person that we can truly be ourselves around, with a bit of insta-love in there. This was a fast paced read and I was able to read it in one sitting. While I enjoyed the book, I did find it hard to relate to the characters.
Piper and Jonah are absolutely perfect for each other. Jonah is a bit rough around the edges and Piper is just finding herself. These two keep finding themselves in the same place and build a relationship that works for them.
Overall this was a good read, but I felt like something was missing.

I 1000% get lost in Lani Lynn Vale’s books. This one was no exception. To be honest I don’t normally read them upon release (permanent preorder author status) because I save them for a reading treat since no matter the story I KNOW it will deliver on every level.
Absolutely loved Jonah and Piper; I realized when I finished that I had smiled through most of the book.
Everything worked flow, characters, storyline and plot.
Oh my hotness! Jonah totally has taken over as being my favorite Lani Lynn Vale Alpha hero! Whew, he knows what he wants and he doesn’t apologize for it at all. Piper, love her! She was a go with the flow type of gal. I also loved getting a glimpse of a ton of our favorite characters and as always it left me wanting more from this group of “kids”. Great glimpses of what may come! If you want a fun read, with a lot of humor, a little bit of suspense, and a ton of heat, I totally recommend this book!
This is the second book in the KDP Motorcycle series. They are complete stand alones. But, if this is your first Lani book, you will want to read the others. You’ll get sucked in and have to read all of them.
This is Piper and Jonah’s story.
If you’ve read the other books, Piper is Sam and Cheyenne’s daughter. Jonah is Downy’s younger brother.
This is a very fast paced story. It was over way too soon. I want more! But that’s normal for me with these books.
This will have you laughing out loud and loving the characters.
The storyline is fantastic, as is the writing. I promise you will get sucked in.
“I want to lose weight, but I don’t want to get caught up in one of those ‘eat right and exercise’ scams.” – Text from Piper to Jonah
“Jizz is really just boneless children.” – Text from Phoebe to Piper
Jonah and Piper had my heart from the start. These two characters had me wearing a huge grin the whole time. It Wasn’t Me is one of those books that you pick up and there is no putting it down. Two people whose paths cross multiple times and end up doing everything the wrong way round find that maybe fate knew exactly what she was doing. Their story is quirky, witty and seriously steamy. A captivating read that will own you lock, stock and barrel.

AWWWWWW….. How I adore ‘accidental wedding’ books! It Wasn’t Me was the PERFECT personification of the theme, specially with Jonah and Piper’s love story made fated by serendipity, which made it more real and heart touching. It was PERFECTION!!!
Piper, the last of the McKenzie girls, was set to return from Germany when Fate put Jonah Crew on her path, multiple times and when she needed him most. I love a ‘fated’ love story and this one hit all the right spots.
Jonah… OMG… This man went straight to my LLV all time fav, best book boyfriends list! I just love a grumpy, straight shooter man with everyone else that is exclusively sweet caring, and devoted to his loved one!He was fantastic! Swoon fest ll around.
Piper of course was as relatable as Lani Lynn Vale other female characters, and that’s no doubt why we love them. Sassy and sweet, she was a great counterpart and perfect match for Jonah and his grouchy Alpha persona. For me, they were indeed PERFECT for one another! How they just embraced what Fate was trying to tell them, specially with the accidental wedding and held on, because they knew how special was what they were feeling?! It’s total catnip for me and I couldn’t have loved it more.
Ms. Vale did it again! Incredibly addictive story with plenty of action, fast paced storyline and SO MUCH HEAT!!! This had to be one of her steamiest books to date, with this married couple practically burning up the sheets with how HOT they were together. LOVE. EVERY. SECOND! And with those scorching secondary characters, I’m dying already for the next KPD Motorcycle Patrol!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
This author’s books are so easy to read and they pretty much always have a feel-good factor.
Piper Mackenzie is on her way home from Germany and the military service when she meets Jonah Crew, who’s fixing the plane she’s about to board. That’s just the first time her path crosses with his. A series of little coincidental meetings ends up with them waking up next to each other…married!
Okay, so if you’ve read any of this author’s books before, you’d know that the male is usually alpha, the sex scenes are sizzling, the heroines are strong, and the plot always flows along pretty nicely, with a whole cast of interesting characters. This novel was no different and I galloped through the book. It’s addictive, fun and steamy reading!
4 1/2 STARS!
Addictive from start to finish! With the next book in her KPD Motorcycle Patrol series, Lani Lynn Vale once again wraps an unlikely pair around our hearts. The relationship is fast paced, but they’re not only adorable together, but sexy as all get out. Lots of heat, sass and humor steals the show and the hint of intrigue seals it all up into a great read!
Piper Mackenzie knows she’s not a good flyer, so the fact that she’s going it without meds on her way back home from her military stint in Germany is awfully brave of her. Or stupid, depending on how you look at it. Factoring in the shirtless hunk working on the plane making a poorly timed joke is just icing on the cake to further her freak out.
Texas cop Jonah Crew considers it a big coincidence when he finds out the woman he freaked out, who’s hand is now squeezing his to the point of cutting off feeling, is heading home to Kilgore as well. Fate seems to be shining down on them to keep throwing them together as the days pass and eventually their enjoyment of each other reaches an all time high … a drunken wedding in Vegas high!
I feel like every book from Lani is distinctly unique, yet still full of this special LLV magic they all have at the same time. It Wasn’t Me is the perfect example of it. This book was totally fresh unlike all the rest but still felt like coming home the second I started reading. It’s also incredibly hilarious, sweet, and has some twists that actually made me gasp which doesn’t happen a lot for me in any book.
I love, love, loooove Jonah and Piper. I was absolutely giddy seeing both of them and even more excited to see them fall in love. Piper reminds me so much of her mother with her sassy confidence and contradictory softer delicate side. Not to mention she’s absolutely hilarious. There were a couple times I was full on dying laughing at the situations she found herself in. Jonah is blunt to the point of also making me die in laughter. Where everyone has him pegged as an a$&#ole the man he is with Piper is an entirely different story. From the second they meet he’s so sweet with her and I was left being a big swoony mess over it.
As always I was fully hooked from the start and now I’m left craving more from Lani.
Lani Lynn Vale once again delivers a story full of amazing characters, laugh out loud moments, and of course a sexy hero that will have you swooning right into a puddle.
I absolutely cannot get enough of this series! I have loved them all and they just keep getting better and better.
Piper and Jonah are absolutely perfect for each other. Their chemistry is off the charts and will have you fanning yourself.
I loved this one and cannot wait to get my hands on the next in this series!
It Wasn’t Me might be the second title in the KPD Motorcycle Patrol series, but it features characters from several of Lani Lynn Vale’s previous works. If you are a fan of Lani’s books you will recognise not only the main characters Jonah Crew and Piper Mackenzie, but also many that make cameo appearances or a mentioned throughout. Many favourite characters from the Freebirds series, Code 11- KPD Swat, Kilgore Fire, Bear Bottom Guardians MC and The Heroes of Dixie Wardens MC appear or are mentioned throughout this title.
I adore the Mackenzie girls they are all such spitfires, and Piper is no exception. She’s sassy, strong, honest and down to earth and incredibly endearing. Piper has an enviable relationship and bond with her siblings and parents.
Jonah is a sexy, grumpy, brooding alpha, who can be a bit of an ass. He has a tendency to speak his mind, unmindful of the consequences.
Piper and Jonah’s story is an unconventional insta-love, and right from their meet cute the chemistry between them is undeniable. Their banter is fun, flirtatious and often quite humorous, and leaves you with a smile upon your face.
If you are after a sexy, low angst read with a passion, heat, heart, humor and a touch of suspense look no further than It Wasn’t Me.
I will be eagerly anticipating the next addition to the KPD – Motorcycle Patrol.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Oh my gosh if two people on earth are ever meant to be or made sense it is Piper and Jonah. These two just keep running into each other in the most crazy ways but also the most perfect ways. However Jonah is not the nicest guy to most people but when it comes to Piper he is like a toally different person. Like I said totally meant to be. And you are totally meant to not miss this book. It was so much fun to read and I loved every second of it. I was so drawn into Piper and Jonah’s world and was sad to leave it. Asl always don’t forget to read the headers on the top of the chapters. Those always end up being my favorite thing and never fail to crack me up. Lani Lynn Vale has hit a home run with this one for sure.
Lani Lynn Vale is quickly becoming my favorite author. She has a way of creating these quirky characters that are so fun, sexy and witty. They are quick minded and outspoken and for me so different than usual.
Jonah and Piper have met in unusual circumstances and they are both used to military. They are kindred souls and do not know it yet. But soon in a quick visit to Vegas they discover that what happens in Vegas does not always stays there…
As I said they are fun, loving and so much entertainment that you will read this book in a roll like me. I already read it twice and loved it every page.
Give it a chance and you will loved it too!
This book was the perfect blend of spicy and drama. There were some parts when Piper and Jonha had me giggling and then I was fanning my face. It wasn’t the most complex book but this author it had a beautiful story, amazing characters, because let’s face it. Seeing the secondary character who had books in then past was a Huge draw for me. Add in the Vegas marriage theme, and this book out of this world. There wasn’t much build up for the next story but I can promise that I can’t wait. 5 stars #2OCCJC

I know I say it with every release she has, but Lani Lynn Vale has proven, yet again, why she is an automatic one-click author for me. She continues to crank out one great story after another. It Wasn’t Me is the second book in her new KPD Motorcycle Patrol series and I am thoroughly enjoying it. After getting glimpses of Jonah in the first book, I knew he was going to the strong broody alpha type and I was right. The man didn’t pull punches and spoke exactly what was on his mind. Most people think he’s an a$$hole, which he agrees lol, but Piper found him anything but, and that makes for a match made in heaven. I just loved everything about Jonah and Piper’s story. They meet in the most unconventional of ways that you can only describe as fate. They have an instant connection with major chemistry and their relationship just soared from there.
I am totally in love with the new series and can’t wait for what’s next. As with all LLV’s books, there’s tons of laughter, amazing characters, lots of love and a splash of suspense. If you haven’t read a Lani Lynn Vale book, you are greatly missing out. But I recommend starting from the very beginning because every single book is interconnected and getting the whole history is so worth the read.

The KPD Motorcycle Patrol series is a series that has me hooked and jonesing for more. This author is able to create a story that has me devouring every detail. The storyline had me hooked, the time line was perfect and the characters were amazing!!
Sometimes when two people are meant to be together, fate has a way of giving them the nudge they need…and fate did everything to make this couple see each other. If you love a good alpha man then you will love Jonah. Jonah is the kind of man that makes you melt on the spot; he is demanding, affectionate, attentive and loving. He will protect those he loves fiercely; but is also very rough around the edges. And the best part was that he never saw Piper coming… Piper is a strong woman who is not completely comfortable with her current life situation. She doesn’t have it bad but she is left unfulfilled. Her family is everything to her and she can’t wait to start her own. So when one crazy night gives them everything they never thought they needed; they grasp on with both hands!
I loved this book and how it had me completely invested in Jonah and Piper’s HEA. I highly recommend that you grab this book and dive right in!
Jonah is my new Alpha Hero! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Jonah is my new Alph Hero in the Town of Kilgore, TX. This man is all kinds of insta-devoted to his woman. Piper and Jonah are MFEO (made for each other). They keep seeing and needing each other and their subconscious are locking together for the HEA (happily ever after)
Could Jonah be any more perfect!
