Piper Mackenzie first sees him shirtless, standing in front of the military plane she was about to board, with one rather large wrench in his hand. The fact that he has the plane—the one that she’s about to be flying on for hours—in pieces only minutes before she’s set to take off on it doesn’t faze her. At least not until a flippant joke about dying in mid-air leaves his lips. The second time she … second time she sees him, he’s helping her from the wreckage of her car. The wreckage that he helped cause.
The third, he’s laying across from her in the same bed, and there’s no denying what happened the night before.
The fourth, well that time would be the first of many. Being Mrs. Jonah Crew has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
*****
Jonah Crew saw her for the first time as she stared at him in awe. It was snowing, the temp was in the negative degrees, and he couldn’t think about anything but her and the look of horror on her face when he tells a badly-timed joke.
The second time he sees her, his heart skips a beat, but not for the reason that one might think. Mainly, it’s due in part to the fact that his truck smashed into her car so hard that his chest hits the steering wheel and his heart decides to stop working right.
The third time, he’s fairly positive that he’s died and gone to heaven. At least, that’s what waking up next to a beautiful woman like her signifies, right?
The fourth? Well, he’s not quite sure how he got there, but he’s already said ‘I do’ so what’s a guy to do?

And this is another reason why LLV will ALWAYS be a one-click author for me! Amazing characters, intriguing plots, and a ton of love – I can never get enough! When I met Jonah in the previous book, I figured him for a brooding but sexy hero. I wanted to know what made him this way and this story delivered in a big way.
Jonah was so amazing. He was like a triple fudge sundae with strawberries and whipped cream and nuts and etc. So many elements made him into the incredible person he was and LLV did a fab job of bringing him to life for me. And Piper… this woman was perfect for him. So freaking perfect. I loved how fate wove its way through their meeting and eventual relationship. I love how easy everything between them was. I loved how they loved and cared for each other. Honestly, I had a lot of envy for this fictional relationship. Not gonna lie. But I’m cool with that because if I didn’t envy it, then it wouldn’t be awesome, right?
With a bit of suspense mixed in, this romance was hot and full of delicious banter. Jonah and Piper were obviously meant to be and I’m thrilled I was able to witness their journey together. You need to meet them ASAP!!
I loved Jonah. He was a no take no crap kind of guy that was a totally alpha but Piper was raised to be kind of the same. These two were perfect together and when they went to Vegas and woke up married I laughed too hard. It was another great read in this series and Pace’s story is going to be also amazing.
Jonah and Piper
Piper is leaving Germany to go home early, after finding out about an emergency back home with her father. She stumbles upon Jonah fixing the plane that they’re leaving in and finds herself seated right next to him on the plane when it takes off. Fortunately for her, this isn’t the last time they have a run in with the other
Loved Jonah and Piper and I can’t wait for Pace’s story next
I loved this one, it was so sweet. No one really likes Jonah around town except for Piper. How they met is so cute with both of them leave no to come home and finding out they live in he same town. And then the next time they see one another it’s in Vegas for a car show. And oh boy does some things happen there. Once home they get together with one another’s families and oh boy did I laugh so much. Gotta love Sam and Downy.
There were some good surprises in here that made you laugh and have to go back and reread to make sure you read that right and then you just laugh all over again.
I definitely recommend this book and all the other books by this author.
Finally we get the last of the Mackenzie daughters story. Piper is finally coming home for good. No more military life for her. Jonah Crew, one likable asshole that Piper didn’t see coming. These two begin with a chance meeting, and fate takes it from there.
I enjoyed the first book in this series, and I can say that the second book was just as enjoyable. The fact that you got to see some of the Freebirds, along with KPD SWAT and also some of the characters form the Bear Bottom Guardians was a bonus. I need the next book in this series quick.
Another must read by LLV
Pretty much all of the Lani Lynn Vale books I’ve read, I loved every single one of them. And it was exactly that with It Wasn’t Me, I am totally on board with this book and series. I really hope that it’ll just go on forever.
I like to describe Jonah as the grumpiest bear there ever was! I found it absolutely hilarious because it made for such great banter between Piper and Jonah. I loved the aspect of the random encounters that they had, it was a bit of an insta-love. But it didn’t bother me at all. Their chemistry was off the charts and I was loving every moment of it.
I truly enjoyed seeing Jonah’s sweet side, which Piper was the only one that really got to see it. These two were pretty easy going and constantly went with the flow. I liked that there was no drama between them and they just kept it real.
How can you not love a story like that?! Love, LOVE, LOVEEEEEEEE this one and can’t wait to read book 3!
**I RECEIVED A COMPLIMENTARY READER’S COPY FROM WILDFIRE MEDIA PRODUCTIONS IN CONSIDERATION FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. **
Lani Lynn Vale
I think people will get sick of me telling them how much i love this author’s books. I can’t get enough. This book was another one that i just fell in love with from the start.
Piper and Jonah #sigh… From this family you will know they are just plain and simple no nonsense type of people. And throw in Jonah who is a laid back type of guy, definitely a no nonsense sweet, #sigh type of romance
From the moment they met they sort of had a connection. Piper was on her way home from Germany after being in the Army. Her dad Sam had an accident and she was going home. But she is not a fan of flying so this sexy guy sits next to her the entire plane ride and holds her hand, no questions asked. Days later she runs into him again on another flight to Vegas and lets just say things happen at a very quick pace after that…. Something that should have been a disaster for them turns into something that both of them just ran with.
You will definitely fall inlove with this story. They were cute, sexy, amazing chemistry and throw in some suspense to liven up the whole story and there you have it. What I loved about these two characters is that they didn’t let any BS get in the way of their happily ever after. A Romance story that i will definitely add to my Favourite list and re-read list.
It Wasn’t Me by Lani Lynn Vale is the second book in her KPD Motorcycle Patrol series. Told in dual POV between Piper Mackenzie and Jonah Crew. Quirky, sexy, with instant chemistry and another killer storyline. Lani Lynn Vale has fast become a must read author for me.
Piper and Jonah first meet on a military flight back to the US from Germany. Between her nervous flying and his instant attraction they form a fast bond over clasped hands and a shared final destination. Add in a car show, a trip to Vegas and some drunken I Do’s and the story just takes flight from there. Mysterious car accidents, extended family, and a rogue Roomba and I was hooked. Loved this! Enjoy!
This book was an absolute joy to read. I was smiling and laughing for most of the book.
Piper Mackenzie is returning home after her tour and in order to get there she has to fly. Her anxiety is already heightened but when she sees Jonah Crew working on the plane she is hoping her trip doesn’t become the next installation of Final Destination. When the ride turns turbulent she finds herself sitting next to Jonah. As if fate was setting their course they both end up in Vegas together and married. Can a wild night lead to happily ever after?
I was curious about Jonah when I read the first book and this exceeded expectations. I thought that Piper and Jonah were perfect together. You were not sure what had Jonah so curt in general but with Piper he has a definite softer side.
This second installment of the Kilgore PD is more of the author’s style than the first book in the series. Here we have the light-hearted feeling of her books, with a little bit of suspense, a lot of funny and a lot of sexy times. Since Piper is Phoebe’s sister and Pru’s twin, we get to see a lot of Sam, Cheyenne, Hoax and Bayou. So it’s a great family time again.
Jonas is the typical Lani Lynn Vale character, grumpy until he meets our girl and then he’s floored by attraction. Suddenly he develops manners, smiles, and tenderness. They meet first in Germany, where Piper leaves her military life to go back home. She’s a scared flyer, so Jonas hold her hand through their lights home to Kilgore, Texas. Then there’s a crash he caused and helped her out with her car, and then they meet on the airport leaving for Las Vegas. And as we can expect, after a fun night with drinks, they wake up married and with tattooed wedding rings on their fingers. Hers has a Q for queen, his has a K for king .
Since their chemistry is so strong and it feels so right, they decide to make a go of their marriage and fly back home as a wedded couple. What we have after this is a delightful story of a couple who in a few weeks develop the rapport and devotion of a long married couple. Jonas starts to smile more, get along with his co-workers more, acquires a family to add to his own since Piper’s family is very close. It’s fun times with the MacKenzie clan and add-ons. We get a good laugh at Jonas’ reaction to his new uniform of the KPD motorcycle unit. The story is entertaining, heartwarming, a page turner, romantic, sweet and has some suspense just to prevent it from getting too cheesy. I loved this one, just as I love all the books by this author.
An absolute delight! This was a light hearted, sweet, and endearing journey to go on with Jonah and Piper. Reading one of Lani Lynn Vale’s books is like visiting old friends. She’s an outstanding storyteller, her books are fun, exciting, and highly entertaining. I adored every single moment of this book.
Another great book from this amazingly talented author. She pulls you in to her book world and holds you there from start to finish. I love this series and can’t wait for more.
4 Finding Something You Weren’t Looking For Stars!!!
Piper and Jonah were two people that literally crashed into each other’s lives. Given that they both lived in the same town and hadn’t met before makes this story that much better. They’re both traveling home from Germany and let’s just say their first introduction completely made me fall in love with Jonah Crew!
These two had me smiling at how they kept “running” into each other which of course led to the moment in Vegas that alters the course of their lives and oh my stars….I’m totally on board with it!! While Piper may not have been looking for a husband or even love, Jonah is the perfect man for her. And when they wake-up the next morning and realize what happened, well, I snort laughed at some of it and then proceeded to fan myself because they’re HAF!!!
What started as a surprise completely turned into the best HEA ever!! This man is perfect for Piper and all her nuances both subtle and overt. But what’s most important is that she loves Jonah for who he is inside and out! Bring in the rest of her family, the KPD and it’s a story that is a must read!
I’ve discovered while reading Ms. Vale that I truly have been missing out on her writing and storytelling abilities and I’m going to remedy that going forward now that I’ve realized that there’s stories about a lot of the characters in this book and I can’t wait to dive head-on into her words!!!
Omh this one is going on my favorites list!! Definite recovery and reread as well. Great job!
Piper & Jonah’s story is lighter, fun, super steamy and an overall enjoyable read! I love their personalities, how they meet, all of it!! We get some fun Sam moments, too. I wish there had been more Downy, & there were some interesting bits that were left hanging & I wished they’d been fleshed out more. But the blurb actually matches the story, so that’s a win!
Thumbs way up for this story! I really loved it!!
WOW another amazing story by the talent that is Lani lynn Vale so love everything she write including this one it has to be one of my favorite of the next gen stories . This is the second book to the KPD Motorcycle patrol but can be read as a standalone I do recommend that you read read everyone of LLV books . If you want to read the families books it would be Boomtown it’s about the heroines parents then to read her sisters finding love get MY bad and One chance fancy , then for the hero his brother has his own story it is Bang switch all these can be read as a standalone though you might run into some spoilers if you don’t read them in order . I really loved the fast connection between Piper and Jonah they really were meant to be with one another the chemistry is just super intense . And oh my gosh we got to see more of some of my favorite characters and hopefully some new couples . As always it’s bitter sweet ending a LLV book because you don’t want it to be over but then your happy that these characters found a happy ending . I can’t wait to read more adventure by this author she just creates awesomeness .
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

This series is quickly becoming one of my faves!!
It drew me in from the start, and I LOVED getting to know the “softer” (for lack of better terms when it comes to Jonah, because there is absolutely nothing soft about him) side of Jonah. I loved that a woman like Piper was the one to make him fall. She’s not the perfect heroine that has no fears. Lani gave her this real personality that made her so relatable.
This story itself was amazing. It has twists and turns throughout, and I loved the banter between the characters. The perfect amount of suspense was added, and has me dying for the next book in this series! Not sure whose story it will be, but I’m sure it will be amazing!!
It Wasn’t Me had me hooked from start to finish and one of my favourite books by Lani Lynn Vale.
Jonah and Piper are a couple that were just meant to be. This book will make you laugh and will have you nearly in tears with how honourable Jonah is. This is a must read and worth 10 stars
Well, that was a whirlwind!
I was hooked on Jonah early. He’s both a simple and a complicated man, which seems impossible but you’ll understand once you read him. He comes off as gruff, brooding, and alpha. And while alpha is definitely a quality he maintains, he’s otherwise a great guy. He’s sweet, caring, charming, and funnier than you might think. He’s a genuine good guy wrapped up in a bad boy facade.
Piper is just plain cool. She’s sassy, smart, independent, and self-reliant. In short, she’s a pretty tough cookie, but she has this underlying vulnerability to her. She’s loving and loyal and can be kind of a mess at times, like most of us.
Jonah and Piper definitely have chemistry and a passion for spontaneity. Like I said before, their story is a whirlwind but I think you’re going to love it. It’s funny, sexy, steamy, and full of feels. It’s a highly entertaining read.
