Very romantic
I received this book in a Instagram giveaway and I’m so glad I did. I don’t think I would have found this book otherwise. I have to be completely honest, I have a hard time with insta-love books, so I was going into this already judging. But the way Avery and Daniel met, well their second meeting, was so hot and so fun to read, my judgement quickly fell away and I fell in love with their story. I like that even though they had an instant chemistry, they pulled the brakes and slowed things down. It was fun to see them be adults and not allow just their chemistry take the reins. This book is a quick read, you will get what you need from it though. There is a few epilogues that were so fun to read, i love getting a glimpse into the future of characters that I have fallen in love with and these didn’t disappoint.
I was looking for an easy read and something light hearted. This was that and more than I expected. It was a very heart warming story and left me with an uplifted spirit and thoughtful reflection on where the author took the story. I would highly recommend.
P.S. no cliffhanger
This was a sweet read. I am a bit of a cynic about the instalove connection. Very steamy at least 45% of the book was sex related.
It was a decent story and I loved the ending however just a bit to unrealistic. The biggest turn-off were the many scenes that were like reading porn. Could have been tastefully done without all the graphic details.
I loved this book. I especially liked the ending, it was so good
“It Started with a Kiss” (nook) was a good story. The ups and downs between Avery and Daniel kept me enthralled. Happily there were more ups!!
I was surprised that the last portion of the book revolved around the “dates” which Daniel had with his and Avery’s daughter, Maggie. I did not expect the progression of Maggie from 3 years old to 26 years old.
It started off fun and funny. The way Daniel and Avery met could happen in real life, but it’s very doubtful the result would be the same. At least, the result wouldn’t have happened as quickly and as drama free. This one is so sugary sweet your teeth may start to hurt. However, if you just finished a raw, murder mystery type of book this one is good for a balancing act. There were parts of this book that were absolutely ridiculous but typical of Daniel and Avery. I stuck with it to the end, but I’d be fibbing if I said I didn’t think about ditching it a couple of times.
Great read from start to finish! Great beginning and beautiful ending!
It made me laugh with some of the wit. The first 80% had some excruciating detail … and lots and lots and lots of descriptions of sex. The first 50% was a very short span of time… in lots of detail described first in one’s point of view and than the other’s. The next 20% covered the rest of the base story. The final Epilogue covered the next 30 years.
A Bet Gone Right?
It’s full steam ahead for Daniel and Avery, after he loses a bet to his sister. This is one story not to miss. Some will say their story is fast, but for them it works and there is no one else in the world for them. They are it for each other.
Another one of my favorites.
I don’t think I’ve ever read a more perfect book. Insta-love is my jam! If you love instant attraction and no angst, this book is for you! This gave me all the feels! The epilogue is the best thing ever!
Daniel and Avery were super adorable with their instant attraction to one another. I loved how Daniel couldn’t get enough of her and their first time kissing was super hot. A great fast read!
I loved this story!
As soon as this couple met I was hooked. I love a cute-meet and this one was wonderful. But when Avery and Daniel meet again, it gets even better. This is, as the series is titled, insta-spark, insta-lust, insta-love and I enjoyed every moment of it.
”He’s already named you, Avery. He’s an animal guy. You know what that means. Once they name you, they keep you. You are so done.”
There is no drama here and the plot is basically this couple getting to know one another, falling in love and making a life together. Avery and Daniel’s character development was so well written I felt like they were a part of my family. I loved them both equally. Avery with her little idiosyncrasies and Daniel with his protective and possessive instincts wormed their way into my heart.
Text from Daniel to Avery: ”One kiss changed my life. Dibs on the rest of yours.”
This is one of those books that you sit back, relax and simply enjoy. With very little to almost no angst, lots of hot smexy times, and an epilogue that will absolutely make you swoon and cry, (and let me add that this book is worth reading if no other reason than this amazing epilogue) this book is the perfect feel good read.
RATING 4.5 STARS
It Started With a Kiss is book one in the Insta-Spark series by Melanie Moreland. Do you believe there is such a thing as love at first sight? Or love at first touch? How about love at first kiss? Avery and Daniel might have never considered such a thing, until it happened to them.
Avery Conner was an introverted, quirky accountant with an addiction to peppermint candy. She had the worst luck dating and her self confidence had taken a pretty big hit when her last relationship ended. Her best friend, Beth, talks Avery into filling in for a last minute cancellation on a social experiment. What happens when two strangers kiss? That’s all she’d have to do, kiss a stranger, then go home. Little did she know that when her lips touched his, her life would be forever changed.
Dr. Daniel Spencer is a successful veterinarian. He has dreams of finding a woman who can love him with as much love as he has to give. He just hasn’t found that person yet. He and his sister love to make silly wagers. He lost their last bet and as a result, he has to participate in a social experiment and kiss a woman whom he has never met. One touch of her lips and he knew that he wasn’t letting this woman go. That one kiss would never be enough.
“Our lives had just changed. We both felt it, knew it. There was no going back now, and neither of us wanted to.”
The chemistry between these two was off the charts. But I liked that Daniel tried to do things right. He wanted to make sure that Avery knew this wasn’t just lust. That it was more. But he knew from their first touch that something important had just happened, was happening.
“She was meant to belong to me.”
Even though their relationship started off in a very unique way, they still had to deal with all of the normal stresses. Hectic schedules, parents, time, daily stress. But these two find their way. They are both all in. I loved the effect that Daniel had on Avery. She became so much more sure of herself, confident. She literally bloomed.
I have to say, though, that the last twenty five percent of the book was the very best part. It’s when a certain thing happened that made them closer than ever. From there to the end was so good. And that epilogue! I got goosebumps. It’s literally the best epilogue I’ve ever read.
This is a sugary, sweet and sexy love story that is sure to melt your heart. I can’t wait for the next book, Christmas Sugar.
A very great love story. You get to know the characters well and get to hear their point of view in the story. You will laugh and cry, but when you are done reading you will go away smiling.
A feel good story that is both heart warming and humorous with a touch of angst and tears. Daniel and Avery have that insta-love at first sight but still must traverse through their own personal fears and emotional battles. I dare you to read this and not fall in love with these unique characters. Melanie Moreland has created a story that will restore your faith in humanity and return you to your original roots in the love of romance.

4.5 star Review It Started With A Kiss by Melanie Moreland
This was the first book I have read by Melanie Moreland and I enjoyed it and will certainly looking to read her other books.
What happens, when a first kiss turns a persons world upside immediately? That is the position that Dr Daniel Spencer and Avery Connor unexpedecdly find themselves in.
Avery is a quiet and shy woman who hasnt dated much; she cannot believe that the handsome veternarian Daniel Spencer could possible be attracted to her. I loved how Daniel worked to overcome Avery’s insecurities and I must say I would love to have a Daniel in my life.
This was a steamy, passionate, romantic well written story. The characters were easy to relate to and I found myself cheering both of them on. Neither were perfect and the flaws that they had were so normal it was a pleasure to read.
There was certainly a great storyline , with passion and angst and showing that life is certainly not always a bed of roses. My only slight concern was that th characters literally fell in love overnight, not somethng that happens that often, but having said that, it is fiction and we all like to escape reality.
I particularly liked that Ms.Moreland did not stop once they achieved their happily ever after and that she fleshed out their life together moving forward, I often wish other authors would do that as many times I am left to wonder what happened
