Wonderful story that put me into a holiday mood. This is a different time travel concept, and I hope there is a sequel.
I just finished this book and I loved it. What a great book to read here in the Christmas season. It takes you back in time to the 1800’s and back to present time and the characters are great. If you like a good old fashioned story, you will love this book. I so enjoyed it!!!
I am typing this with a mischievous grin and a gleam in my eye. It Must’ve Been the Mistletoe was the perfect fantasy Christmas story. A blast from the past Christmas miracle to get anyone in the holiday spirit.
It’s sweet, charming, and absolutely perfect. It will leave the reader smiling with hope filled eyes. Just remember to pick up some mistletoe…
This is a Christmas story, but more so, it is probably the most unique spin I’ve ever read on a second chance romance. Both Adeline and William are convinced love is not for them. He lives in California, but is moving back to the east coast to take over his family’s business. She is a high school history teacher in his home town. She is also the best friend of his brother’s fiancé. With the wedding looming, Adeline has a dream where she slips into the past, as one of her ancestors.
This story is a very sweet love story, and the interesting spin the author puts on the book kept me hooked. Will is so amazing with Adeline, throughout the book, despite his misgivings prior to meeting her. Adeline’s enthusiasm for all things historical and Christmas is inspiring, and had me smiling. Their love at first sight was truly beautiful to see.
There is so much to recommend this book, that it would take forever to go through it all, but it really is one of the best Christmas stories I’ve read in a while. I totally enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone.

Dover is a new author for me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. If I had to compare it to something, I would say it is The Lake House meets Cinderella meets Hallmark movie. It is part contemporary romance and part historical romance. This seems like a hard thing to pull off, but Dover did an excellent job with it.
In this book, Adeline isn’t so sure love is going to come her way. As her best friend prepares for her wedding, she begins to think about how she is the last of her friends to remain single. While she isn’t unhappy, she isn’t opposed to finding a partner. She simply won’t settle until she finds the right partner. Then we have Workaholic William. He doesn’t mean to be Scrooge, but he can’t seem to help himself. He doesn’t have time for a relationship and hasn’t really met anyone he wants to make time for. As he prepares to come home for his little brother’s wedding, he is also preparing to move back home for good. When a little mistletoe magic brings these two together, will they change their ways, or will it all just be a dream?
This book takes place in both modern day and the 1800’s. We begin in modern day with Adeline preparing for her best friend’s wedding then travel back in time to the 1800’s while she is dreaming (or is it a dream?) then come back to modern day. While some of the characters are in both time periods, there are new characters in both. It is almost like getting two stories in one.
I really liked Adeline and William and their story. They were sweet and real and honest. They really brought out the best in each other. While they had only just met, they seemed to fit together like puzzle pieces. We get Adeline’s perspective through much of the book, because we enter her dream, but I loved getting William’s perspective as well when modern day chapters alternated. I loved getting to know Adeline’s ancestors while we were in dream mode as well as their friends and family in modern day. I loved Helen’s story and thought Adeline’s grandparents’ story was touching as well. I thought Dover did a great job of showing what type of people Adeline and William were by their actions in both the past and present. We got to see them in diverse situations, but their hearts remained the same.
This book was a lot for Dover to take on, but she did a great job of it. Even with the switches, it was easy to follow and enjoy. If you are looking for a love story with a bit of Christmas magic, I definitely think this could be the book for you!
I received a free copy of this book with no compensation or expectations from the author.
It Must’ve Been the Mistletoe by L.P. Dover is a perfect, magical holiday romance! I’ve still got a smile on my face after finishing it!
The is the first year that I have read Christmas books, and this one is one of my favorites! Adeline is a high school history teacher, and she loves her job. It isn’t just a job for her; it’s her life. She loves history. As good as her life is, filled with a great family and good friends, she still hasn’t found true love. Her best friend is getting married, and she wants Adeline to meet his brother, Will.
Will is moving back to his hometown of Asheville, N.C. He worked hard in his family’s real estate business and has sacrificed his personal life to keep it successful. Leaving California, he is now looking forward to cutting back on work, enjoying life, and finds himself looking forward to meeting Adeline.
While at the wedding rehearsal, Adeline receives a special gift from the wedding planner, a locket. She loves it, but she has NO idea how this locket will change her life. This is where the story got very interesting. She finds herself back in the 1860s and falling in love with Will. I found myself falling in love with both of them too! Their romance is soooo sweet!
When the book returns back to the present time, I still had a lot of questions. I won’t go into them all because I don’t want to spoil anything, but I will say Dover brings the story full circle. The ending was PERFECT!!!!
Dover did a phenomenal job of capturing the magic of Christmas. I highly recommend reading if you are looking for a sweet, magical holiday read. If this doesn’t put you in the mood for Christmas, nothing will! The icing on the cake was the recipe for homemade biscuits at the end! YUM!!!
