Everyone’s favorite Idiot Girl, Laurie Notaro, is just trying to find the right fit, whether it’s in the adorable blouse that looks charming on the mannequin but leaves her in a literal bind or in her neighborhood after she’s shamefully exposed at a holiday party by delivering a low-quality rendition of “Jingle Bells.” Notaro makes misstep after riotous misstep as she shares tales of marriage and … and family, including stories about the dog-bark translator that deciphers Notaro’s and her husband’s own “woofs” a little too accurately, the emails from her mother with “FWD” in the subject line (“which in email code means Forecasting World Destruction”), and the dead-of-night shopping sprees and Devil Dog–devouring monkeyshines of a creature known as “Ambien Laurie.” At every turn, Notaro’s pluck and irresistible candor set the New York Times bestselling author on a journey that’s laugh-out-loud funny and utterly unforgettable.

This book was not what I thought it was going to be. In my opinion, there is very little character development. Yes there were times when I did laugh out loud in the book but I was disappointed that the chapters were basically short stories of events in her life. To me, it read like a someone writing a blog. I might try another book from this …
made me laugh
Funny for a while, but the uninhibited, millennial-chic cant wore thin very soon. Vulgarities on every page are a bore. The writing is clever enough, just immature.
Quick read, very enjoyable.
laughed.
Started out funny, didn tmaintain…
I could not get past the first few chapters in this book. I didn’t identify with the characters, there was no particular plot and it was a vain attempt to be funny. So, I deleted it from my Nook. Don’t waste your $.99
Very enjoyable!
Laugh out loud relatable stories! Highly recommend reading for an enjoyable time.
Easy, entertaining read.
Not an easy read, made me wonder what the author wants to express.
Some of this was laugh out loud hysterical and other chapters just amusing. Fun though.
Go out and get all her books. They are funny and well worth your time. I don’t usually read non-fiction, but she is a comic heroine in the tradition of Lucy Ricardo (I Love Lucy). Pure gold.
Hit and miss. Some chapters are hilarious and others she is trying too hard to be funny.
Not my kind of humor.
I don’t particularly care for books with too much cursing. I feel like there are so many more adjectives in the English language to resort to the typical 4 letter words. Experiences can still be comical without them.
not very funny
Did not like this. Author tried too hard to be funny. NOT. I stopped reading after the 2nd chapter
Wasn’t interesting at all. Just the first story, did make me laugh,
but couldn’t follow the other stories enough to get interested.
No where as funny as the reviews said. Very scattered. But on the upside, I did laugh a couple of times.
