After the cliffhanger in book one I was anxious to see where Lisa Suzanne would take Brian’s story. *Spoiler(ish) alert* as we, the readers, had hoped he was indeed redeemable, but the character’s path to redemption was anything but painless. I felt this was more accurate to “real” life vs the fairytale route many authors prefer to give, where a declaration of love patches and heals all. Brian’s story was more messy, and I enjoyed seeing him grow and develop as a character. I (kind of) wish the story had been a bit tougher on Vivian because she a. Lied by omission, b. condemned Brian for his lack of truth (although they BOTH lied with good intentions), c. cheated. Although she told a tale of hardship and heartache in her time away from Brian, I still feel she was let off relatively easy in comparison.
In all, I truly enjoyed the duet, Truth and Lies, and hope you, my fellow reader, will as well.
It Ended With The Truth was a good read. It’s book two is the Truth and Lies Duet. It can not be read a s a standalone, you must read It Started with a Lie first. This one picks up where It Started with a Lie ended. I was shocked at that ending and was hoping Vivian had a better explanation then what she did. Both Brian and Vivian sometimes made it hard to like them. Brian is at rock bottom is this one. With the truth coming out it’s cost him a lot. I felt bad for him and was hoping he would get his redemption. Vivian was hard for me to accept her truth. I liked her but I struggled with liking her. I really liked the growth that Brian went through in this one and by the end I 100% liked him.
This is book 2 of the Truth and Lies Duet you NEED to read book 1 first. Wow! What great ending to this duet. I loved Brian and Vivian’s story. I didn’t think Brian could redeemed himself after all those lies but he totally did. At times I was so frustrated with him I wanted to put my Kindle down but of course I couldn’t actually do that. I recommend the Duet. Once again Lisa did not disappoint me!
I’d say this was just as good as the first book.
Brian had definitely learned a few things from his mistakes. He really did a lot of growing up.
I loved the way he apologized to everyone, admited his mistakes and asked for forgiveness.
Mark was there to help him with everything and I liked the way their relationship progressed.
I liked how this book was all about Brian admitting his mistakes and trying to fix broken relationships.
He and Viv did found their way back together and it was really bittersweet.
I loved this book and I loved this characters.
I enjoyed it very much and I can definitely recommend it to everyone.

It Ended with the Truth is the conclusion to Brian’s story and I have to admit I was not sure that Lisa Suzanne could redeem the arrogant man. This is book two of the Truth and Lies duet, but I also suggest you read the A Little Like Destiny series. There is A LOT of backstory there between Brian, Mark and Reese. It will also help you to understand just who Brian is.
Brian Fox. Little brother to the infamous Mark Ashton has let his cockiness and playboy ways over run his life for too long and now he’s suffering the consequences. Will he be able to win back the girl and also make the amends he needs to?
Brian Fox will never be my favorite Fox brother. I just had to say that before I tell you how much he made me fall for him. I really wanted to hang on to my disdain for him to the very end. He caught my attention in book one, but he completely won me over in this one. How did you do that, Lisa? How did you take this prick and make me love him? You have worked some kind of magic and I loved it! Like I said Mark will always be my favorite, but these brothers both have a place in my top book boyfriends list.
I love, love, love this duet, as well as Mark and Ethan’s books. I hope that Lisa continues to write characters in the VAIL world. If you were debating on reading this, stop right now! You NEED this duet, especially if you love the ultimate asshole (he has his reasons) getting his happy ever after.
Redeeming Brian
After the last book Brian was still up to his old ways and I never would have thought in a million years that he would find a way out of the mess he had made of his life. It takes a really good author to be able to sway a person so much from the feelings you had in the previous books to get you to fall in love with the person that you thought had no integrity at all.
Brian and Vivian’s story takes on a life all its own and has your heart breaking right along with theirs. There are so many secrets and lies in Brian and Vivian’s lives that it makes you wonder if they will ever find their way out to have a HEA. This book also made me love Mark even more if that is even possible. Of course with Mark being the sexy rock star he most importantly was one of the best brothers there is.
Lisa Suzanne has done some outstanding writing on this book, and this series. When we first met Brian, in another of her books, we knew him as a very self centered, egotistical man, that would lie whenever. In the first book of this series, she somehow made him into a man, that we, the readers, liked. Then, he lost everything. From there, in this book, we got to really know Brian and Vivian. Now, all of a sudden, we are on Team Brian, as well as Team Vivian, and I loved Brian’s rockstar brother, Mark, even better, as well, as his wife and baby. This is a wonderful story of love, forgiveness, truth, and second chances. I loved it, therefore, I highly recommend this book and this series.
This was so not what I was expecting form this author, she had me completely in a 180 over and over again with this one. I was thrilled to start reading this story to see what happens to Brian the alpha male with a huge ego and jack @$$ then I also couldn’t wait to really see what happens now with Vivian. As much as I was glued into book 1, book 2 had me way hooked more. I was in love with the story and how everything changed so much from book 1 it was like I was reading something new, new characters and new everything I couldn’t seem to get enough. I was way more excited about this ending then I was for book 1. This was easy to read and follow along made it super enjoyable had a lot of tear-jerker moments where I couldn’t believe what I was reading. This story really had me all over the place up down, all around and what not. Best story written by Lisa that’s for sure. Every page had something new and exciting happening that you had to keep turning the page over and over. Romance hits you hard in this story I must have swooned a few times, it was totally worth it. I want things from every state now 🙂 Vivian and Brian are an amazing couple to read and the journey they go on to get the happy ending was even better. MUST READ!!!!!
***I received this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, this is all me, myself and I, I was in no way told what to say***
This emotional journey pulls at the heart strings from beginning to end, this books starts where the first left off as Brian finally owns up to the truth and losses everything….. or has he…. loved how they banter and struggle yet grow….. Was a highly entertaining cuddled up in bed for the night read.
This is the second book to this duet. It picks up right where it ended from It Started with a Lie. Brian finally comes clean with all the lies and it cost him everything. His company, his friends and finally the one woman he fell in love with. With his brother once again stepping in to help him, Brian finally is learning how to accept his faults and being more truthful. So working for his brother at his record label and then going out on tour with the band he starts really seeing things in a different light. And the one woman Vivian that he can’t seem to get over pops back into his life, will he fight for her or move on once and for all. And when his past shows up will old feelings resurface. Or will Brian finally realize where his heart lies, get the woman, his company and his friends back and be the man he needs to be after all. I loved his story. I didn’t think I would like Brian but who doesn’t like a villain at first. But then you kind of have to feel for him too. This duet is so good. I recommend it highly to read both books.
It Ended With The Truth by Lisa Suzanne is the final book in her Truth and Lies Duet . Told from Brian’s POV after his world imploded at the end of book one, It Started With a Lie, we get to see where he has decided to go to nurse his wounds and pick up the pieces of his broken life and broken heart.
It takes a lot of dedication for someone who was so wrong to make such a successful turnaround, but sometimes even doing the right thing doesn’t mean you get everything you wanted. He has to make amends with his ex-business partners, try and win back the love and affection of Vivian, if she is available, and most importantly, make amends with his brother and peace with his past.
Well-written and well-paced this book was even better than the first part as it gave so much more depth to Brian’s character. Enjoy!
What an Great finish to this duet!
Brian’s character had such a turn around. He had to lose it all in order to see what mistakes he made and what he truly wanted his life to be. His time with his family and how he made it right with each of them, was heart felt an emotional. I love that Brian and Vivian took time away and didn’t rush back into the relationship. Vivian is such a strong woman character, who made a bad choice, but she owned up to it. I loved Brian and Vivian’s story!!!
It Ended With The Truth was the second book in Brian’s story and Lisa Suzanne does not disappoint!! We first met Brian in the Vail series, as he is the brother of Mark, and he was not likeable – in the least. As I started the first story, you had to wonder how she would make him remotely likeable but she does exactly that! When book 1 ended, Vivian had revealed her secret and Brian was devastated. In the matter of days, he loses everything. His friends, his business, his job – everything. As he is floundering, his family comes to the rescue (mostly his brother) and he finds himself moving to California to work for his brother’s company. During the months of trying to get his life back together – he cannot stop thinking about Viv and ends up crossing paths with her right before he is heading back out of town to join his brother’s tour. The story follows as he works on finding himself (his “new” self, his “true” self) as well as working to rebuild any type of relationship with Viv from the road. As their time away increases, you find yourself wanting nothing more than for both of these two to find each other as well as their own, much desired happily-ever-afters. It’s a great story where Lisa is able to take an incredibly disliked character and turn him into someone that you are rooting for. Another great read not to be missed!!
Lisa at her finest! Book two of this duet is all I wanted and more. A beautifully woven story and a breath of fresh air!
We got to see Brian’s character growth. He had to lose it all to reflect on all his poor decisions, and all he’s lost. We got to see him with his family, and make things right. I love that Brian and Vivian took time away and didn’t rush back into the relationship. Vivian is a strong character, who made a bad choice, but she owned up to it. I’m glad we got to read how it played out with her husband and got introduced to her family.
Brian and Viv’s relationship is sweet and sexy! I loved their communication with each other, and how they found their way back to each other.
A great read from start to finish!
It Ended with the Truth by Lisa Suzanne is an angsty, contemporary romance and part two of the Truth and Lies Duet. The story is told entirely from the perspective of the main character, Brian Fox, and picks up right where the previous book ended.
Brian has come clean about all his lies, and as a result, he has lost everything – his job, his friends, and Vivian, the woman he loves. With his brother’s help, he is trying to move on and settle into a new life. Several months have passed when Vivian re-enters his life in a professional capacity. Will he be able to win her back? You’ll have to read to find out.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a wonderful conclusion to the duet that tied up all loose ends and answered all lingering questions. In book one, I started out hating Brian and ended up rooting for him. In this book, I completely fell in love with him. This is Brian’s redemption story. It’s a touching tale about forgiveness and second chances.
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
Brian Fox lost everything with one little lie. He lost his company. He lost his best friends. And he lost the girl he loves.
How can he get it all back? He can start by doing something he’s never done before: Telling the truth. Even if that means facing his demons and letting people go.
Absolutely LOVED this book! I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry was so alive, and Brian’s pain felt like my own. Well done!
For an author to take a character you once thought unredeemable and make you love them more than you thought possible…….that is what Lisa Suzanne did with Brian in It Ended With the Truth. I adore Mark (how could you not love this man after everything he has done for his brother – seriously, he’s amazing)….but seeing the evolution of Brian’s character from when we first meet him until now – I couldn’t help but fall for the youngest Fox. He was romantic, charming, thoughtful, remorseful, apologetic….nothing I ever thought he would be. But, meeting Vivian showed him just what he was missing in life. She gave him a reason to change, be a better man, even if they weren’t together. He just needed to hit his rock bottom before he could see the err of his ways. But he never gave up and never lost hope that someday he would find his way back to those he loved and lost.
The whole story was just so incredible…….and that ending! So many tears!! I couldn’t think of a more perfect way to finish the Truth and Lies duet!
You need to read It Started With a Lie before this book as this is a continuation of Brian’s story.
Brian Fox…I don’t even know what to say about Brian. He’s the guy I should hate, and there’s been times I have detested him, but I couldn’t help but fall in love with every single part of the man he is. He’s not always been a nice guy. He’s lied, he’s manipulated, he’s cheated. He’s knowingly hurt people and not cared about it but when he loses everything, a different Brian emerges. This is the Brian I always knew was hidden behind the jerk persona he hides behind. This is the book that lays Brian bare, that shows his faults, his mistakes and imperfections. But it also shows you that it’s never to late to change, family has your back even if it doesn’t seem like it and there’s hope that the future will get better.
I adored this duet. I loved Brian in the A Little Like Destiny duet until he made me hate him but in this duet I didn’t hate him once. Yes I got frustrated with him. No I didn’t like certain aspects of his personality and attitude but nothing could diminish my love for him. This duet was everything Brian’s story should be and Lisa Suzanne has written his character in a way that not only makes him feel real but will have even the most die hard I hate Brian Fox readers switching teams and falling in love with him.
Great ending to this duet! The author definitely succeeded in getting me on Brian’s side. It’s a page turner and is well written.
I recommend this book and just love this world the author has created!
Wow!!! What an amazing finish to this duet!
Probably, I was as unsure about how well Brian Fox could redeem himself in the eyes of the readers of ‘the A Little Like Destiny’ series as everyone else. But, you know what?
He did.
And…
He did it with aplomb!
This man has gone from being a total ass to an adorable and sweet loving man. Yes, he’s still got the alpha tendencies but with Vivian as his leading lady it’s hardly surprising.
We started off book two where It Started With A Lie finished, and Vivian’s clanged of a revelation. Of all the things she was going to say, I didn’t think “because I’m married!” would be it.
Now Brian has to deal with the aftermath, not just of that but the desertion of his best friends and losing all that was important to him.
Moving back to his parents house to lick his wounds seemed the best idea at the time, but when Mark offers him a job with his company he decides it’s time to move on.
Months later and Brian is settled and trying to forget about Vivian when she’s suddenly dropped back into his life as his temporary replacement because he’s going on the road with the band.
Neither know quite how to deal with the other and after one little spate they just fall back on being professional with each other. But those weeks before Brian has to leave on tour reminds them of how they felt before.
But, there’s just one thing Brian hasn’t dared to ask.
Is Vivian still married?
He knows he can’t be a willing party to cheating even if he wants Vivian with al his heart. But what if she’s not? Will she still want him?
It would have been nice to hear her view on all that, but sadly this was a single POV, so we had to rely on Bri. Thankfully he was more than up to the task.
I really loved getting the inside scoop into Brian’s head. His thoughts and feelings were so clear and his remorse for all his wrongdoings in the past made him more real.
It was nice meeting up with Mark and Reese too, and seeing how they were getting on.
I heartily recommend this book, but make sure you read It Started With A Lie first. Even better, if you’re new to Lisa Suzanne and the Vail books then read the ‘A Little Like Destiny’ trilogy before that to see the Brian we all knew and well… Read it and find out.
