Sinning never felt so good… knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence—the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.
Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.
River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life—he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six—much to his rivals’ delight.
Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.
Styx has one rule in life—never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot… a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go…

So so so good.
Omg what a book Im so mad at myself for not reading this book sooner. My friend told me about this book a while ago and I said “Ye it’s on my TBR list, I’ll get to it soon” well I didn’t get to it fast enough. I was hooked to this book from the start Styx/River and Salome/Mae had my attention straight away. I m a big fan of MC books and I have 1 all time favourite but if the rest of this series is like this book then I’ll have 2. This story was just so good. There was just so much drama from the start. The twist and turns were just crazy. I didn’t see what was coming at all the twist was just so so good. I was shocked when I got to it.
The characters in this book are so good. I luvd Mar from the start this poor girl has just been through so much. Being part of The Order wasnt easy the things she had done and seen were not what a young girl should of been put through. There was one thing that made her life that tiny bit better and that the guy behind the fence, it was her but if hope. I just want to hug through our the whole book. But it was good to see the change in her. She went from this timid girl that knew nothing but the brainwashed crap she was told to this strong woman that would take shit she might still be scared but life wasn’t the same she had started living a life that was her own not ran by crazy people. Well she did still have crazy in her life but not like The Order. Instead of them she now has Styx in her life he is just a different type of crazy.
Styx is very different to your normal prez in an MC club. He is known as the Hangman Mute. He is still has feared and as ruthless as any other prez but there was one thing that made him different he had a speech impediment. This did frustrate him but he has dealt with it from a young age he has grown with it. Styx dealing with this it never made him weak he was a strong man you didn’t mess with him and people did fear him they should he was crazy. But there was one person that made him soften and that was a girl behind the fence.
I can’t say enough good things about this book I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it. I m really looking forward to more of this series. I’m hoping other characters are goin to be just had good as Styx and Mae. If they are this is goin to be a great MC series. Can’t wait for more.
WOW!!! OMG, this book was just amazing. The story was intense and had a twist I wasn’t expecting.
Styx was the Prez of the Hades Hangmen and suffered from severe stuttering. His vocal communication was limited to a very select few and he was known by others as the Hangman Mute and has been obsessed with a little girl he met briefly 15yrs prior. But when they find a female, bleeding and near death on the Hangmen compound, he’s shocked to learn it’s the girl he’s never forgotten.
Mae aka Salome, was raised in a religious commune where women were mistreated and used solely for the purpose of satisfying the savage desires of the men.
With the threat of the commune coming for Mae, the threats of rivals to the MC, a rat in the club and a love between two characters that come from completely different worlds, this story if packed full of the emotional roller coaster needed for an entertaining read.
Tillie Cole wrote an amazing story with awesome characters. In her intro she explains that some of the “cult” experience came from real experience of people she’s met and it’s interesting and alarming to know that parts of this story aren’t all fiction but a combination of real life experiences. That just makes the story that much more real and kept me hooked on the story from page 1. This was an OUTSTANDING read and worth more than just five stars.
Loved Styx and Mae. Couldn’t wait to devour entire series. Stuttering president of 1 % MC always remembers an encounter he had as 11 year old boy. 15 years later the girl from the other side of the fence turns up badly injured on mc property. Mae has lived her entire life in a cult doesn’t know what a cell phone or motorcycle is, but the love between them is like predestined. Many obstacles are in the way not the least being from opposite sides of the spectrum. I love this series so much I just did a reread of It Ain’t me Babe and I am getting ready to reread Souls Unfractured Maddie and Flames story.
For those who like books with a darker pinch, surely this series will be a good request. Merging fiction with real facts, Tillie Cole managed to deliver a brilliant narrative, even if the road is not always happy.
River and Salome since very young deal with the dark side of humanity. The mute boy must learn to become a feared man, for that is the only way to survive in his world. She, whose beauty arouses masculine glances, will discover that sometimes evil lurks where least expected.
Styx and Mae left behind who they used to be and concentrated on surviving. The mute boy grew up, is the president of Hades Hangmen and is mortal. But he never forgot that girl from the past, whose eyes still haunt him. Mae since she was a child suffers all kinds of unimaginable abuses. No longer able to live this life, she decides to run away, because freedom or death are better options than staying in the same existence.
An outlaw biker and a vital piece to realize the prophecy that a religious cult so much believes. Is there a happy ending? The journey that the reader will embark on will be tense, sad, often heartbreaking. but it will be worth it.
I loved Styx. The bad guy in the deep has a good heart. His inability to speak correctly, stuttering, bothers him. Only his father, his best friend and Mae have heard him speak. He communicates by signs, because he feels ashamed of his deficiency. Despite being dangerous and outlaw, he never forgot the girl he found crying so many years ago. His hard life was not able to change those feelings. When he meets her again, almost dying, he will do anything to protect her.
Salome lived in Hell. Being raised within a religious cult, which is actually a disguised pedophile den, for being very beautiful, she was condemned as a Cursed Sister of Eve, that is, she should be purified to remove the demon that lives in her, because her beauty is a temptation for men. What she and the three other cursed girls have been through is just awful. When she manages to escape, she ends up going to stop in the club where the only boy who showed to care and was her first kiss is the president.
The whole story of the cult is horrible. It’s impossible not to find it all too wrong. The way this exploration is shown and even brainwashed using faith as an excuse is very interesting to keep up with.
The traitor was astonishing, as well as the whole unfolding of the motifs. The secondary characters are interesting, both the members of the club, and the other girls of the cult. The romance between Styx and Mae is very beautiful. Although not the typical love story, these two broken people can understand each other and find comfort. There is no salvation or redemption, only the fact that even with so much bad, they found peace in each other’s arms. And that’s worth reading.
I had read it Ain’t Me Babe a long time before I started my blog, for some reason it took me so long to pick up this book, either I thought I wouldn’t enjoy it, it wasn’t what I usually read, or I just didn’t want to pick it up but I am so glad freaking happy I did one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I listened to this on audiobook to refresh my memory but to be honest it was just so I could read it again, I absolutely love this book and this series is one of my favorites of all time.
I love this story line it is beyond perfect, I love the fact that it’s about an MC but I love the factor of the other side of the story of where the heroine is from. Bringing in a commune was genius. The way Tillie Cole wrote this book and how she would have to write such a rough and tough speech and then it felt like Mia was so old English that it was so perfectly written.
I do have to say as well this was one of the best audiobooks I have listened too, the way they told the story and their voices were so perfect to tell this story
I loved Mia she was such a beautiful and strong character she went from being trapped and arranged marriage and escaped from her life, escaping came with hard times and learning to live in a world that she doesn’t understand and to be thrown into an MC with a club president that everyone one was afraid off but she really took it on and went into the world head first.
River or Styx as he is known in the Hades Hangmen MC he is also known as the Hangman Mute as he stutters when he speaks and he can only talk to 3 people, his father who has died, he best friend and Vice President Kai and the girl he met at a fence when he was a lot younger. He is scary and possessive and just one look from this guy will have you running and I loved everything about this character.
This book is full of twists, some violence, has fantastic side characters that you want to know more about. So if you don’t mind a little bit of violence, really alpha guys and you love a great story that you will get lost in then you need to read this. This book would have to be way up the top for me love love love it.
If I could give this book a million stars I would but I can’t and this deserves so much more than 5 stars.
For the love of Hades, what took me so damn long to pick this baby up?
I am having a hard time putting into words how beautifully, twisted and breathtaking this story is. It will rip every emotion you have and then when you think it can’t possibly get better, it does.
Styx . . . . oh lord, how I love Styx.
The truly rough, raw and god damn perfect biker with a pure heart when it comes to his love and loyalty to his club and his old lady.
Dubbed The Hangman Mute due to his inability to speak from sever stutters, Styx was always been destined to lead the mother chapter of Hades Hangman MC and has earned a lot of respect from the brothers for his ruthless ways.
Styx has never been able to talk to anyone other than his father, his best friend Ky, and the girl with wolf eyes he met by the fence in an isolated dumping ground as a child. The black haired girl with wolf eyes sitting by the tree crying, the first girl he ever kissed.
The one they all think he dreamed up.
Mae, aka Salome, is nothing like anyone you have ever known.
Born in a religious commune where she and her sisters have been locked away from the outside world and brainwashed into believing they are “cursed” because of their beauty, that they are temptresses and from the age of 8 years old have been repeatedly and violently raped in what they call “the Lord’s sharing”.
It was proclaimed that Mae will be the salvation of their people by marrying Prophet David on her 23rd birthday, something Mae is terrified about. Mae’s life has been one huge nightmare after another and after finding her blood sister near death on her 23rd birthday, Mae knew she needed to escape.
When Mae rocks up at bloodied and badly hurt at the Hades Hangman compound, Styx can hardly believe his eyes, his wolf-eyed girl has finally come back to him, now he needs to protect her and keep her safe from unknown enemies that are closer to home than he knows.
Ok, so let’s just take a moment here to bask in all this.
Styx is one hardened mother fucker who has no qualms with murder and violence when it comes to protecting what’s his. But with Mae, damn he is perfect, gentle, but still the demanding man we know and they just . . . . fit.
Mae is beyond strong, my heart broke for all this girl has gone through but she is one badass woman in her own right, who survived the hell of the commune and fights for her HEA.
Their road is nowhere near smooth, they have so much to overcome. Styx finds it hard to let go of what he learns Mae has had to endure in her short life, and Mae has finally found her voice, her freedom and her only love, something she won’t give up without a fight.
And let’s not forget the other MC brothers. *fans face*
I think I fell a little for all of them, Rider too (even though I also want to hand him over to Flame and watch that bloodbath unfold). I mean these men are all so different, but all have the same love and loyalty for their brothers and their club.
I seriously want to just skip in Flame’s story, yep one of the psycho trio’s. That man is beyond fucked up but I am so damn intrigue with him. But, first, Ky is up!
This book blew me away. This beautiful, dark, twisted, and exciting book drove me over the edge, and had me losing it. I mean hyperventilating I even got dizzy. I had to stop at one point and just breathe. Now that is some talented writing. Tillie Cole hats off to you, for writing something that wrung every emotion out of me. I felt everything.
Styx was raised in the MC. His dad who died last year was the MC President. Now that job falls on Styx’s shoulders at the age of 26. Called the Hangman Mute, because he stutters so bad he can’t speak, he had to earn their respect the hard way. 15 years earlier when his father and some others were dumping bodies out in a woods he came across a fenced in area that looked like a prison. There he seen an angel. Wearing weird clothes, crying, she had black hair, beautiful blue wolf like eyes. That day he kissed her through the fence to try to make her happy. For years he had tried to find that place again, he never did , but he never forgot her. So when he finds her 15 years later bleeding to death on his club property, all those old feelings come rushing back. One look and he knows it’s her, and he knows he has to protect her. But with an unknown enemy out there and war looming can he keep his Mae safe?
Mae was raised in religious commune cult, where their leader, Prophet David, let all the girls ages 8 and up be raped in what was called the lord’s sharing. completely shielded from the outside world, and brainwashed since birth by the teachings of the Prophet David, Mae is told that she is to become the 7th wife of Prophet David on her 23rd birthday which will save her people. On the day of her wedding she finds her sister Bella who as been missing for weeks. Bella is dying, locked in a cage where she was raped, whipped and beaten to the point of death. There holding Bella’s hand she sees that everything she was taught was wrong, so when Bella dies a few minutes later, she runs. Escaping, but hurt badly Mae ends up passing out in alley and waking up to a new and scary world filled with what looks like evil. Can Mae find her place in this new world that feels so foreign to her. Can she start a life of freedom and love with Styx or will her past come back and drag her home?
Omg I loved Styx. He was hard, gitty, and raw. He was a biker through and through. Blood on his hands, but he was good to Mae. Loyal to his men. Totally bad with a knife. Styx was sexy as hell! Poor Mae bless her heart. The stuff she lived through made me sick. Mae was a fighter, a survivor, and she had a good in her that shined. They didn’t break her. She was brave. I loved Mae’s character she had such strength. Styx and Mae together were beautiful. Their connection was strong and powerful. Tons of chemistry. Styx was sweet with Mae, gentle. The way he sang and played the guitar for her, and then he taught her to play. So sweet! Mae accepted Styx for him and he was able to relax and just be himself with her. She shined and rediscovered herself with him and he found peace.
I loved the other gang members, especially Flame. There is something wrong with me I know, but I’m just drawn to the broken ones. I wanna fix em I can’t help it. And God is Flame 10 kinds of messed up. Rider(Cain) I don’t know how it happened, but in the course of one book, I went from loving him and feeling sorry for him, to hating him and finding him unredeemable. The crap he pulls, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive him. I seen that he get his own book which will be book 4, but Tillie Cole has really got her work cut out for her if she wants me to see good in that man. Especially after he set Pit up, let him be beat, tortured and killed. And he watched it for God sake.
MC books have to walk a fine line with me. They are either a hit or a miss, because I can’t stand cheating or woman beatin’, but they can’t be sappy wimps either. That is a hard line to walk bad, rule breaker , but not crossing that line into abuvie and this book did it perfectly. This book was amazing. I have never read a book by Tillie Cole before, but after one book I am hooked. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for this series.
Love this series! I can’t wait for the next installment!
