Marry—or else.Navy SEAL Brian Lake is out of luck. Going rogue on his last mission landed him on a fast track out of the Navy—years too soon to have saved up enough money to buy the ranch he’s always wanted. Without a career—or the cash to start over—Brian’s options are few, until Army general Augustus Reed steps in with an intriguing new mission—a permanent one.Ignored by her absentee father, … absentee father, duped by thief he appointed to oversee her family’s ranch, Cass Reed is done with men for good. From now on she’s determined to run Two Willows herself, so when her father sends a Navy SEAL to fix up her house, she vows to run him off her land as soon as possible. But Brian’s just as determined to stay, and he’s in a far different league than the men she’s met before.
Brian’s ready to do anything that will earn him a share of a prosperous ranch—even take a chance on marrying the General’s daughter. And he soon realizes it won’t be a hardship to marry Cass. She’s everything he’s ever dreamed of in a woman—and Two Willows is everything he wanted in a ranch.
But he’s not the only one who wants Two Willows—and Cass.
Will falling in love be the most dangerous mission of all?

Strong characters that are enjoyable but not always all that intelligent; their strengths are also their faults, such as their independence. When they take it to extremes, they make poor decisions and engage in risky behaviors and self-defeating stubbornness, but just when you’re ready to yell at them to pull their heads out, they figure it out.
The action keeps the book moving so swiftly that it doesn’t get bogged down with too much of anything; it moves from action to romance to intrigue to drama and back again, rotating amongst the struggling sisters, the would-be-husbands, their overbearing and misguided father, and the scum the sisters are currently involved with that are trying to use them for their own purposes.
The best part about this romance is that there IS a story, not just a flimsy reason to write sex scenes, and the story is given a hero who is a man with a brain, a spine, & a determination to be there for the heroine. He sees the obvious issues while understanding that there’s more going on than what’s on the surface, and he deals with it rather than shrugging it off or dismissing it. He doesn’t cut and run when the heroine pushes back, he doesn’t get pouty when she doesn’t fall at his feet or drool in awe of his appearance and abilities, he doesn’t hit back with cutting words when she verbally attacks, and he’s not so focused on his own failures and struggles that he can’t function or spend most of the book pushing the heroine away because he’s so damaged…all of these traits are something that is hard to find in fictional male characters lately! He is a character that doesn’t need a woman to save him, and, problems on the farm aside, he’s not looking to stroll in with the attitude of “I’m a SEAL & am obviously the hottest male you’ll ever meet. I’m here to save you all from yourselves, so feel free to bend over in gratitude.” (Also a common attitude in books dealing with SEAL heroes lately). He just lets the heroine (and her sisters) know who he is with his actions rather than words; he doesn’t run no matter what she dishes out, he takes a REAL interest in the farm and the sisters, and he puts in real time and effort, slowly letting her learn she can depend on him.
I’m interested in seeing where the sister’s stories go from here.
Great story, good plot, with a sweet romance (I skipped the sex scenes and the romance was still sweet). Excellent afternoon read!
I enjoy reading most books involving military personnel as our perception of them changes with each story. The military is part of the back bone of any country keeping us safe within and outside our borders.
I love this series. Each book is a stand alone.highly recommend.
Great story – can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series.
In Willow Creek, these girls have lost their mother and as the funeral ends, their father disappears. They encounter many , many problems and their father never comes back to the farm to check on them.
He sends a Navy Seal to help them fix up the house and they do everything to turn him away. Read the book to see everything that happens. A great book and Cora Seaton is a great writer!
I really enjoyed this book, the people were great! I can’t wait to read more of the sister’s stories!
I enjoyed this book because it’s a totally novel story line and some unexpected scenarios
I like the characters, I love the plot and everything about this book. Good job writer! If you have some great stories like this one, you can publish it on N0velStar, just submit your story to [email protected] or [email protected]
Simple and readable, it sucks you into the series just like it’s supposed to. Nothing new but you just want to find out what happens next throughout the series.
I’m interested enough that I want to read the others when they are in my budget.
I love the idea behind this series and all the of the books are a lot of fun. The characters are lovable and flawed and the setup is dynamic. Very entertaining. It’s one fo those books I buzzed through because I wanted to see what the characters were going to do.
This is the first book in the series The Brides of Chance Creek. I loved the women in the family, each with her own strengths. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but they are so much better when read in order.
Loved the interaction among the characters. Interested in see how the series goes.
This was so good that I read it twice. Once a few years ago and forgot to mark it as read and so started it again and it was just as good the second time around.
I enjoy Cora Seton’s books. This series has different twist about how the men were “issued”, I enjoyed this aspect of the plot. They are top-notch reading.
Want to read the whole series.
INTERESTING STORY LINE – FIRST IN A SERIES. I STARTED READING THE NEXT STORY BUT GOT DISINTERESTED BECAUSE IT WAS BASICALLY THE SAME STORY WITH DIFFERENT PLAYERS.
Absolutely love this series
There is not a book I’ve read by Cora Seton that I haven’t enjoyed, and this one did not disappoint!
