The most reviled man in biblical history comes to life.
In Jesus, Judas believes he has found the One — the promised Messiah and future king destined to overthrow Roman rule. Galvanized, Judas joins the disciples, ready to enact the change he has waited for all his life.
But Judas’ vision of a nation free from Roman rule is crushed by the inexplicable actions of the Nazarene himself, who will … himself, who will not bow to social or religious convention — who seems in the end to turn against his own people. At last, Judas must confront the fact that the master he loves is not the liberator he hoped for, but a man bent on a drastically different agenda.
Iscariot is the story of Judas — from his tumultuous childhood and tenuous family life as a devout Jew to a man known to the world as the betrayer of Jesus Christ. But even more, it is a singular and surprising view into the life of Jesus himself, an intricate account that will cause you to ask: “Would I have done the same thing as Judas?”

Iscariot is written with powerful emotion. Even though Author Tosca Lee’s story is fiction, it gives the reader a different point of view of why Judas responded in such a traitorous way. The research the author puts into this story adds to the drama and helps the reader to relate to this time in history. This is a new-to-me author and I enjoyed …
Tosca brings People from the bible alive like you have never thought possible. Iscariot is a beautifully told story of Judas that made me see him and myself in a different light. It challenged the way I saw him from just biblical accounts and made him so much more human than I had ever thought possible. It also made me see that I am more like him …
I really loved reading & seeing this familiar Bible story journey of friendship, fellowship, miracles, and the childhood background of Judas. Tosca Lee’s Iscariot gave me a completely compassionate perspective of the well-known betrayer of Jesus, who I thought had other harsh feelings about. Well written, vivid descriptions of places & events of …
Iscariot: A Novel of Judas by Tosca Lee is an emotional experience that hovered within my thoughts for days after I completed the book several years ago. This is a very emotional version of the story of Judas!
I listened to the audiobook on CD years ago and more recently had the awesome pleasure to watch the author read the book aloud to her …
Wow. Beautifully researched and written. An entrancing story. Moving. Drags you in before you realize it has happened. Breath taking. Well done Tosca Lee.
04/15/2020: Just finished a second time through this story. It was just as gripping and emotional as the first time. So beautifully written. One of my all time favorites.
I loved Iscariot because it felt like a more reliable background story of this man than the traditional “he sold Jesus for 30 coins and I don’t care about anything else.” I don’t believe that a man can spend 3 years side-by-side with Jesus and then just sell him like that. There had to be something behind the visible story and I think Tosca told …
Wasn’t sure about this one… A book from the point of view of Jesus’ betrayer? After reading it I can say it is an incredible lesson in perspective and how the wrong thing can be done with the best of intentions at heart. I know this is fiction, and it’s not that this is how/why things happened… but it’s a point of view of what it COULD HAVE …
This book represents the first time I’ve read a plausible explanation of how the story played out. While I can’t say (and she wouldn’t either) that this is definitely the true version, her research and perspective take a tragic but rather bewildering story and provide context and understanding. Amazing. Fascinating. Challenging. Made me cry.
It gave me a new perspective on life at this time. I’ve read it 3 times.
Such a thoughtful and thought provoking novel. This will give you new ideas about who Judas could have been. Reading of his tender moments with Jesus and his troubled personal life will give you both chills and understanding. While there is truly no way to know such personal details, this will give you insight into what could have driven the …
A wonderful take on the person of Judas Iscariot. A different view than the one typically seen. Well worth the read.
For the first time ever, I saw Judas as a man and not the ultimate betrayer who deserved his death. I was completely captivated by this book.
