This delightful tale is written by a six-year-old boy and his mom, with fun, colorful illustrations that perfectly enhance it. Isaac is a very caring boy who wants to keep his friend, the sugar maple tree, from becoming lonely when the last of the leaves have fallen and winter is setting in. When he finds a way to help the tree, the tree has a way of giving back to him. Young children will love this book that they can read alone or with their parents, and it can help them learn more about the colors in their world. I highly recommend it!
Isaac’s Ice Cream Tree is a fun story that lets a child imagine the fun of finding ice cream on a tree and having different flavors of ice cream every day! Isaac finds a different color of ice cream each day of the week and they all taste delicious. He enjoys this all winter but changes occur when the temperatures warm and Spring arrives. The ice cream begins to melt and then, a rainbow appears. Isaac realizes that the melted colors have now created a rainbow and he is reminded that ‘Even when the magic seems gone, always remember to look for the rainbow!’
The colorful illustrations and the easy to read text make Isaac’s Ice Cream Tree very appealing to children and it is a great book for children and adults to read together.

Isaac’s Ice cream Tree
A book that teaches how to think positive. Also great for imagination. It would be great that a tree would actually create different types of ice cream.
I loved the relationship between Isaac and the tree. He did not want the tree to be lonely during the winter time. Isaac decided to go out every day to keep the try company everyday. He left the tree gifts and in return the tree turned them into ice cream.
Even though this is a children’s book it can be a great lesson to learn as adults. So as you read this book to a child, children think about the meaning of the book. We can relate our relationships with people the same as Isaac had with the tree.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write a positive review . This is my own opinion.
Isaac’s Ice Cream Tree is a delightful story about caring, friendship and a boy with a big heart. I enjoyed reading the adventure Isaac had with his magical tree. Everyday was a new treat for him by his new friend. His excitement is contagious and you can’t help but smile as you read the story. The illustrations are vivid and enhance the story. The story is perfect for younger children and will have them dreaming of ice cream. I love the message in the story to never give up and always look for your rainbow of happiness.
I love the imagination of children as portrayed in Isaac’s Ice Cream Tree by Angela Henderson with illustrations by Rachael Koppendrayer. Isaac’s deep loyalty and love for his friend reminds me just how innocent and loving children can be.
I enjoyed the bright, large, endearing pictures. (I viewed this book on a 10” Kindle Fire.) The nuthatch is very well drawn and also a recurring part of the pictorial design. I was fascinated by designs within the tree itself, and I could nearly taste its ice cream. The bright colors drew me in and kept begging my eyes to linger on each image. The upbeat ending with its color finale was a satisfying conclusion.

A whimsical wintry story
What a fun book! At first glance, it is simply an imaginative and somewhat silly story of a boy’s love for a tree and how his kindness towards it was rewarded with ice cream. Truly, what better reward could there be?!! On that level alone, the book is a fun story to give to a young reader to enjoy.
On a slightly deeper look, Isaac’s story also teaches about the days of the week, fruit, colors, and even speaks of changes in the weather related to several seasons!
I love the illustrations in Isaac’s Ice Cream Tree. They are fun and friendly and warm. The colors and fonts used are appealing and fit with the story quite well.
If you are looking for a fun book for a youngster – one who needs to be read to or one who is already reading, Isaac’s Ice Cream Tree is a sweet treat for the senses. Just be sure to have some real ice cream on hand because this book will surely to leave you craving the frozen treat as well!
