Amanda has no trouble choosing a college or picking a major. But she does have a problem with Doug. The one helping her keep her scholarship. When she starts lying to family and friends, her world turns upside down. This is a great coming of age novel for people. It highlights some of the problems teenagers face when going of to collage.
This is not my first book by Tricia Copeland. This was a different setting for her books than I’m used to. Our main female character is Amanda Avery. She’s starting college and her two best friends are at the same institution with her. She’s got to figure how to keep her scholarship and still have a personal life. There are multiple friends she meets along the way that are very important to her. The two main male characters are Zack and Doug. They are brothers in a fraternity at the college.
Amanda is off to college at her dream school. She is planning on focusing on school, but instead she meet Doug, a dreamy senior who she can’t avoid. She is drawn to him even as he tells her there’s nothing there.
This was a quick read. It was a clean coming of age story about a young woman finding herself and falling in love. I thought the author did a nice job of capturing the budding love between Amanda and Doug. I could understand Amanda’s avoidance of situations and it made sense how lack of communication caused so many problems in her life.
I was upset that the story didn’t end how I wanted it to. And I found Amanda hard to relate to and I wasn’t sure why everyone was so drawn to her. There were several times I grew frustrated with her. I wish we had gotten to know more about her friendships especially since some of the friends were supposed to have been life long friends. Doug was kind of boring and brooding and his indecisiveness made me tire of him quickly. They’re relationship didn’t seem like a particularly healthy example for young readers. However, I thought Tyler was fun and lovable, and I wanted so much more for his character. This is a guilty pleasure book and I will probably want to read the next one.
Is the first book in the series and introduces us to Amanda and Doug. Been a teenager Romance book about finding yourself and the new found independancet that is thrown at you. Real nice read.
Is This Me? (Being Me Book 1) by Tricia Copeland is a new age-college-romance that kept me engaged until the last page. This is not my first book by this author but it is my favorite of hers. I enjoy her writing style and her creative plot line. Her attention to details made me feel as if I was right there with the characters. I easily found myself connecting with them on top of it they took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. This is a story about Amanda. She thought that she had it all with her going to a top college with her best friend. Her lies are piling up after her crush goes completely wrong. Will this be how she starts her adult life? Will she figure out what kind of person she wants to be? I enjoyed Amanda’s character. She is level headed person who has been known to deviate to the wild side. Amanda’s crush is a man that I am not sure how to feel about at first. As the story went further, I think I started changing a little bit. I enjoyed watching Amanda learning to come into her own as she becomes an adult. She really grows throughout this story. She knows her feelings and he struggles with them. One of the emotional things in this book is how she keeps to herself and starts to withdraw into herself. I felt for her when she was feeling this as so many people really do go through this. I highly recommend this book. Find out what happens when this young adults learn to grow up and search for acceptance.
