Is this how she wants to start her adult life? Is this the person she wants to be? Find out in Is This Me?
“That’s when I realized it wasn’t a decision I needed to make, it was me being true to my feelings.”
This book was my first that I have read of Tricia Copeland’s work. I can promise it won’t be my last! I loved her engaging writing style and her story weaving. I am a huge fan of college romance and coming of age books though so this was a sweet spot for me.
This is a lot about our main character, Amanda, and her finding herself while adjusting to college life and, like most new college freshmen, she is struggling to adjust from the high school life she has left behind. She has the benefit of a family that is deeply rooted in a fraternity on campus, so she starts there with trying to build her social circle. It is through this fraternity that she meets Doug. It will be an encounter that changes the course of Amanda’s future. Will she be able to handle the crisis at hand and still be able to keep true to who she is? Can she handle the consequences of her actions and come out on top?
“I thought for a minute. Was I making this decision now as a reaction to seeing him walk away? That’s when I realized it wasn’t a decision I needed to make, it was me being true to my feelings. When it came to who I couldn’t live without, it was Doug. Maybe, it wasn’t the rational, safe choice, but I loved him and I couldn’t walk away.”
I’d hate to give too much away of this story as it is a quick read and the twists and turns are detailed in a way that would give the whole story away with divulging the ‘big event’ that changed the way Amanda has to live her life. I can say that it will be well worth reading and finding out what happens. I am looking forward to seeing what comes next in book #2, If I Could Fly.
Amanda is a freshman with a scholarship to worry about so studying is her main priority. Deciding to take a break from studying she attends a party with her friend. At first it seems unlikely Amanda will have much to do with a handsome frat boy she sees at the party. That is until fate collides with a literal collision between the two during a volleyball game. Now, Amanda and is being cared for by the same hottie who previously ignored her at the party! How will their relationship develop? Is Amanda reading more into his caring than what is actually there? What will happen to her scholarship and her studies if she is distracted by him and with her recovery? There is more story here than meets the eye. Can’t wait for book 2!!
Is This Me? By Tricia Copeland is a wonderful coming of age romance. I was completely drawn into the story of Amanda. The ability of the writer to truly bring the characters/story to life is amazing. The details given to the story helped make it real and relatable. I look forward to reading the next book.
This is the first book in the series and is a great young adult romance. Amanda likes to do things on her own which was quite frustrating just accept help, that’s what i felt like shouting!! otherwise a great read and i could not put it down
Is This Me (Book One of the Being Me series) by Tricia Copeland was a really good read! I was instantly grabbed into the story straight from the beginning. The characters were great and relatable just like the story was. It felt almost like a soap opera though, with all the drama throughout the story. Some parts of this novel dragged and felt difficult to get through, but for the most part this was a very good read. It was definitely entertaining! I can’t wait to read the next installment to this series!
Is this me by Tricia Copeland was a story of romance. There was college love and having new experiences that were just lovely to read.
A girl named Amanda Avery who just started college and didn’t know what hit her when she got there. Never believe she would be the girl that would fall in love her first year in college. Her gpa and scholarship was all she thought she cared about. Parties were the last thing on her list but her best friend manage to drag her to one and her college life was never the same since.
This was a slow love story. It was so Interesting to read and not knowing what to expect. This is the first book in the series of Being Me series and can’t wait to see what the other books have in store.
I really enjoyed this story. It is a teenager/ college romance. It tells the story of a young girl who is away from her family learning to adjust to college life and everything that goes with it.
Amanda has a plan. She knows what she wants and has the plan in place to achieve it. The last thing she wants him love.
That is until she meets Doug and he turns her world upside down. Now Amanda has choice to make and these choice have consequences on her plans. Add to this the stress of being alone without parents to guide her and things start to spiral out of control.
Can she regain control of her life again? Is Doug good for her or bad? Can she have love and also succeed in her studies?

Is This Me? (Being Me Book 1) by Tricia Copeland
I absolutely love this author and loved, loved, loved this book. I’m pretty much devoured it. This is a coming of age/ new age romance. Amanda is a freshman in college who had it all planned out, that is until she got injured. She then found herself depending on others for help. And the crush she has is going her way either. She isn’t handling things well and is slowly slipping. Can she pull herself out of this slump before its to late. I loved all the characters even Doug. I might have been crushing on Zach a bit. Find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more in this series. I highly recommend this book heck anything from this Author.
This college romance will sweep you into its pages and have you embracing every emotion. Copeland does a beautiful job weaving this story well and having it feel very relatable regardless of which stage of life the reader may be in. I enjoyed following Amanda on this journey. Recommended good clean reading.
Is This Me? (Being Me Book 1) by Tricia Copeland. I loved this book so much. It brought me back to my college days. Its the story of Amanda who is beginning her first year of college. She is most interested in learning and of course in boys. Her roommate is dating a fraternity guy so that opens lots of doors for Amanda in the dating world. When she meets Doug she thinks she is in love and he seems interested in her at first but starts to send her mixed signals. Doug just got over a bad breakup so she just doesn’t understand his intentions. Doug’s friend Zack is a player but when it comes to Amanda he seems different. When Amanda is hurt she must accept Doug’s help or risk losing everything including her scholarships. When she begins to lie to her family things begin to unravel. Who will win Amanda’s heart in the long run and will she be able to save face and stay in school? Read Is this me to find out!
Total Page-Turner!! Is This Me? is the first book in the Being Me series by Tricia Copeland. Set as a College/New Adult setting, Amanda is starting her freshman year in college. She thought she had it all planned until life sent her a curve ball. Her friend decides that she is going to attend her first college fraternity party. There she meets Doug, who of course, is all wrong for her. Thankfully that doesn’t amount to much until one day she becomes injured and needs the help of her friends and this guys is here to help. What will happen? You’ll have to read to find out. The characters in this book are really great! I loved reading about Amanda and the choices leading her into adulthood. This book is great for anyone but for those that are starting college, this is an excellent book. You will enter a rollercoaster of emotions and hard decisions. You will definitely not want to put this book down and want to read more afterward. I, myself cannot wait to read the book in the series to see how Amanda’s life has progressed!
Is This Me? By Tricia Copeland is book one of the Being Me series. I absolutely devoured this book! This book is a coming of age/new adult clean romance.
Amanda is a college freshman and she’s got it all planned out. She doesn’t expect that her plan will be derailed on the first day. Amanda meets up with her friends and is introduced to the brothers at her friend, Mark’, fraternity. Doug and Zach are two people she ends up being pretty close to especially after an accident leaves her needing a lot of assistance from her friends, especially Doug. Even though he’s turned her down, she’s determined to be friends no matter how difficult it is. Zach makes it a little easier though, that and avoiding Doug. Can Amanda withstand all the turmoil she’s facing and make it out unscathed?
I don’t like Doug. I did at first and his develops well but I don’t like him for Amanda. From the beginning, Zach felt more like where Amanda should end up. This book is deep and you can relate to the characters and the feelings. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
This is the story of Amanda Avery, she is about to start college as a freshman and is looking forward to in one way and in another is dreading the need to be social, so as she is woken up by her sister leaping on her and the smell of pancakes and bacon from her mum cooking breakfast downstairs as her dad went in commander mode and got them all ready to go. As she gets to her room, her best friend asks her to go and see her in her room, she had moved in a little earlier and had already gotten to know some people, she also meets one of her suitemates and they get on well when she goes to sort out her own room. After a few hours of sorting and a family dinner, she is left on her own and agrees to go to orientation with her suitemate, they meet her best friend there and after the obligatory parts, they leave to go to a frat party. She is introduced to some of the other guys, including the President and the Vice President and surprisingly feels comfortable around them, while also admiring how good looking they are, as the event goes on, she tries to find her best friend, but is distracted by one of the guys she met earlier and they end up staying up late discussing shared hobbies, he then proceeds to escort her home and she realises that she had a good time, despite breaking a few of her parents rules.
As her orientation continues and she hangs out with the Fraternity brothers more, she finds that her feelings towards the good looking President start to develop and she is becoming friends with some of the other guys as well, so when she is badgered and eventually convinced to sign up for some of the co-rec sports teams, as well as working out with the frat brothers in the college gym, despite taking a tumble during a flag football game and ending up needing stitches and fainting from the sight of the blood. She is starting to get into a routine with classes, study, working out and being social, but that changes when she gets injured during the first co-rec volleyball game of the season when she crashes into the president and is thrown to the ground where can’t move, there is immeasurable pain in her arm and eventually she blacks out, when she wakes up she is in hospital with the guy she crashed into at her side, after the doctor comes in and explains that she has had to have surgery to pin her arm back into place and to relieve the bleeding on her brain from her head injury. When she is released from the hospital, her friends organise a rotation to look after her and her feelings and emotions are in turmoil as she realises that her recovery will take a lot longer than she originally thought.
How will Amanda be able to deal with the aftermath of this injury while also keeping up with classes and maintaining her GPA, as well as the hot and cold interactions of the guys around her? This is a story of recovery, both emotional and physical, as well as looking into the pressures of coming of age and growing up in America and the experiences that go with it, it is a read that keeps you hooked throughout.
I found myself pulled into the pages of this story and couldn’t put it down until I was done.
Amanda is starting her first year of college with her best friends. Since one of them is in a fraternity, and one of them is dating a fraternity member, she finds herself at the frat house her very first night on campus. There, she meets Doug and Zack. She finds herself spending a lot of time with Doug…but he never makes the move to be more than friends. A serious injury has her spending even more time with Doug…and Zack. An almost-kiss on Halloween sends her away from one while bringing her closer to the other. Can Amanda find happiness? Or is she hiding the truth from herself?
I found myself drawn to Amanda. Her character enjoys her independence and finds it hard to adapt when an injury has her relying on others. Her feelings are a mess because she can’t tell if she is being strung along or if she is imagining something that isn’t there. All the supporting characters were enjoyable and I wanted to know more about all of them! I am hoping there will be other books in the series!
Is This Me? (Being Me #1) by Tricia Copeland was a great 5 star read.
Amanda is starting her first year of college. What’s great is her two friends are there as well and when she gets there they take her out to a party. This is where she meets Doug and Zack, two very hot seniors. She has a connection with Doug, they have a lot of things in common.
Doug just had a bad breakup and keeps giving Amanda mixed signals. Zack also shows some interest in Amanda. Who will capture her heart?
Overall this was a good read. I was pulled in right from the beginning. I really liked all of the characters, they added a great element to the story. Of course we get all the drama that comes with college. Amanda had me slightly frustrated at times with her choices but I got over it. Reading this book makes you feel like your back in school and part of the group. If you’re looking for a great read, 1-click and get started today.
This is the first book in the Being Me series. This is a Contemporary Romance book coming in at just under 400 pages. This story follows Amanda, a freshman college student, and Doug, the senior college fraternity president. She begrudgingly goes to a frat party with her friend and sets her eyes on a hottie. Unfortunately, he does not seem interested. Later, she gets injured playing volleyball and the same hottie from the frat party offers to take care of her. Unfortunately for her, she does not have a choice. She hates having to depend on people, but she needs someone to help her after her injury. Amanda is starting to have feelings for him, but he seems withdrawn towards her. What is his problem?
What I love about this book is there is a chance for forgiveness, love and recovery in more ways than one. But there’s more fight you would think as Amanda has two guys to consider. I love that she was able to overcome all of her obstacles and find love but it’s worth a read to see how much she’s been up against.
Is This Me? (Being Me Book 1) by Tricia Copeland. I’ve recently been introduced to this awesome author and I’ve enjoyed most I’ve read so far, but I have to say this is probably my favorite so far. The characters are complex and relatable, they easily pulled me right into their world. I liked getting lost in this story, it’s a wonderful coming of age story that kept me engaged the entire book. Couldn’t put this one down. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. Coming of age books can sometimes make me frustrated because the characters do things that make me want to smack them but I also think that’s a true feeling on how well the story is written because you feel strongly. I’m excited to see where the author takes readers next. Four stars and highly recommended.
3.5 stars
Is This Me? (Being Me Book 1) by Tricia Copeland is a coming of age new adult romance story. It is a typical set in college story where our characters have the usual angst and self-discovery issues. There is also the wondering just where they fit into life as they transition from teenagers to new adults. It is one of those stories that you can’t put down because you have to know how it ends as much as it frustrated me. I found the characters Doug and Amanda annoying and struggled with them and I wanted to strangle them. Now Zac, I fell in love with Zac. However they did redeem themselves a little as the story progressed.
Is This Me? by Tricia Copeland is the first book in the Being Me series. For me this book is all about the main character – Amanda – and the emotional journey that she goes through. I thought the author did a great job of portraying the turmoil that the character was going through, so much so that I was drawn into the story and really felt like I was taking the journey with her.
The overall story has a great pace to it. The author has clearly taken the time to develop the characters and give them the extra depth that makes them so enjoyable. She really knew how to engage my interest in the book which I think it why I read this so quickly. This a great, clean, coming of age story that I would certainly recommend you try today.
