“Not only did Irrevocable gut me, it took me on a roller coaster ride full of emotions that I usually don’t experience while reading romances…. You start to hate, you start to sympathize, and you begin to fall in love in every way. Ms. Callahan has turned my world upside down with her writing. Irrevocable was a great 5 star read.
If you are looking for dark, this is your book. There were some things that had me cringing but yet I couldn’t stop reading. Once you start reading you won’t want to put it down.
Rose wakes up in a room with a bunch of strange men trying to take her clothes off and rape her, she has no idea how she got there. When a couple of men come walking in she ends up being taken into custody by Kirk.
Kirk doesn’t want Rose’s name, instead she is given the nickname of Silver. She has no clothes and she is to be his slave. As the story moves forward things get even more interesting. These two start to find a connection and develop feelings for each other in this dark and dangerous world.
I highly recommend this book for anyone that likes dark reads. This one shocked me but yet pulled me right in. Do Kirk and Rose get a HEA? 1-click and find out for yourself what happens.
Warning: some scenes could be triggers for some people. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Irrevocable is the first book in the Serpentine duet by author Skye Callahan. Silver wakes up groggy and being groped by a handful of men she doesn’t know, it soon becomes clear to her that she has been kidnapped and it’s not going to turn out well. Before she is damaged beyond repair she finds she has been noticed by the boss’s right-hand man, Kirk. While better than the alternative Kirk is still her “master” and Silver isn’t ready to give up her identity easily.
Let me start by saying Silver is tough, she’s far tougher than I think anyone would be in the situation she finds herself making this a very interesting book, she grabs your attention from the beginning and doesn’t let go until the very end. Her perfect foil in this story is Kirk, he’s become her master and wants to bend Silver, not necessarily break her as other “masters” seem to want to do.
This story, in and of itself, has a dark vibe to it. It explores the world of human trafficking and some of the situations these unlucky humans find themselves in. The author does a good job of describing how these victims lose their identities and become little more than animals depending on their master. Despite its dark themes this was a very intriguing story and I was drawn to both Silver and Kirk and I admit to wanting them to have a happy ending. I can’t give anything away, but I will say I am off to read the next story because this one was so awesome!
Heartbreakingly beautiful story!
At some moments in this book I was a bit on the fence, but for the most part I actually really enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure I would considering the genre and overall feeling to the book, but it had something that really pulled me into the story and kept me there.
I am not a super big fan of this darker genre for romance, or rather I’m not a fan of dark erotica, but I did enjoy the drama that came with this plot and the injustice it spotlighted. It had an intense beginning, middle and end to constantly keep me on my toes and I could not help but to feel for Silver and all the other girls being trapped in that horrible way. As much as I could not help but hate all the men shackling them and contributing to their lives as sex slaves. This made it difficult to find any redeeming value in Kirk, even if he wasn’t as bad as the rest of them, and I found it in the beginning hard to see how the story was going to turn it around in his favor. Well, compliments to the story and author for managing such a task.
Not only did Kirk become another victim to feel for in my eyes, he also made the romance so much more intense and beautiful. Questionable actions aside, he had a really good heart that shined through in the end and him showing both this violent and uncaring side as well as that protective and compassionate side made him a very interesting and complex character. Such complexity and depth would have been nice to have in Silver too. Although, she had her own issues and depth, her character bordered on a bit too unrealistic to me, being stubborn to a self destructive degree. I liked the flaw of that in her character of course, but it was a bit too much at points. This stubbornness did play really well in the relationship between her an Kirk however and I loved the push come to shove interactions between them, both the good and the bad ones.
If I had one complaint with the romance is that I found the hate to acceptance to feelings a bit too hasty. I understood why it happened after Kirk had to do what he did to her, but it feel like a complete 180 in the middle of the story. I had wanted to see more of a progression to that point. The relationship did build up perfectly throughout the rest of the story though, and gave a very satisfying yet bittersweet ending I was hoping for. A book clearly worth four stars.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Irrevocable: A Dark Abduction Romance, Sins of Ashville: Serpentine #1, by Skye Callahan. This was a new to me author and I can’t wait to read more from her. It was slightly out of my norm but I really liked it! The two main characters kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would come next. Looking forward to more!!
Irrevocable: An Abduction Dark romance by Skye Callahan is the first book in the Serpantine series. This book kept me guessing on how things were going to turn out for Silver from the very beginning and it wasn’t anything I would have predicted.
I really was torn between liking and hating Kirk, but his personality also went back and forth so I wasn’t sure which was real and which was an act.
This is a dark story but was so well written and the characters were developed perfectly. I loved the way the story ended and plan on reading the other book in the series just as soon as I can fit it in.
Irrevocable by Skye Callahan
Irrevocable is sexy and addicting. This erotic romance is a page turner and I could not put it down Silver and Kirk are thrown together in the most unlikely circumstances. Silver’s world is turned upside down when she wakes up to a room full of men with sexual hunger in their eyes. Kirk saves her from them to become his slave. This slave relationship type scenario changes them as the story progresses and more is taking place than what is seen on the surface. Such an exciting novel.
Irrevocable: An Abduction Dark Romance (Serpentine Book 1) by Skye Callahan. This book hit me right in the feels with its emotional roller coaster it took me on. This book is a beautifully written Dark story that had me finding myself crawling inside of it. From page one you are drawn into a complex and dark book world where you meet Silver and Kirk. These two characters are far beyond amazingly written, they jump off the pages and act the story out in front of you. Silver is one of the greatest characters I’ve seen with her strong will and fighting heart. She’s a character you can’t help but feel like you need to know someone just like her. And let’s not forget the hotness that is Kirk, He everything you could ask for in a dark romance story. Each dark aspect of this story adds something different they aren’t thrown in there just because, they have there time and place but also their meaning. I highly recommend this story if you are a fan of the darker side of dark romance, it’s not at all for the faint of heart. I’m excited to read more and will definitely be adding this to my read again list! I give this book a five star review for how well the author writes a wonderful story with it’s dark side.
Irrevocable- Skye Callahan
5-star review
Irrevocable by Skye Callahan is a truly addicting read! This is the first book in Skye’s Serpentine series, a series I’m so looking forward to reading. I was completely captivated from the very first chapter until the very end. It’s dark, twisted, haunting and so heart wrenching. I was overwhelmed with all kinds of conflicting feelings and emotions while reading certain scenes.
Skye Callahan is a phenomenally talented author who managed to take me on such an unforgettable journey with this book. There was so much detail that it felt as if I was right there with these characters, through the good times and the bad. I will say that this book deals with some mature subject matter and is not for the faint of heart, but I loved it all the same! I can’t wait to read more of Skye’s work in the future and I would absolutely recommend this book to others!
Irrevocable by Skye Callahan
4 Stars
This book is definitely intended for mature audiences only. This is a dark romance which includes pain and a lot of violence. Some people may not be able to handle it.
With that out of the way, I really enjoyed it. The book keeps you on the edge of your seat. “Silver” wakes up to a nightmare. Her every instinct screams to fight but if she wants to survive, she will have to submit her body and will to her Master. She must accept the darkness if she ever wants to see the light again. Revenge will be hers.
I don’t get dazed easily but there were parts in this story that actually shocked me. Silver is an amazingly strong woman who went through hell and back and survived. She bent but never broke.
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series. This is a dark romance that has twists and turns you won’t see coming. The main character, Silver is full of spirit and attitude that she is relateable and lovable. Kirk is hot and sexy and made the best boyfriend. These characters pulled me right in and took me on a roller coaster ride that I needed to see what was going to happen next. I highly suggest this book!
Irrevocable Volume 1 written by Skye Callahan
5 Stars
“Threats, insults, and random profanity echoed against the cinder block walls of the room and roared in my head propelling my struggle.”
This book was nothing like I expected. I felt as confused as Silver in the fact that what I expected my thoughts and emotions to be while reading where challenged, skewed…you have to go with the flow…put your uncomfortableness aside and power through. I know this life is real and I can’t imagine being immersed into it and where you have to go in your mind to survive.
“No matter what I did—if I fought, if I gave in—the pain was going to come.”
You won’t be able to put this book down. The details will have you feeling, tasting, drawing within yourself and yet you won’t be able to walk away until you get to the last page. I was confused, crying, praying and hopeful as I read this book. You go into survival mode along with the characters.
