The sweetest lies are the most seductive… never, never fall under the spell of the British Bastard again.
Catriona MacTaggart is the one that got away. The Scottish lass has fire in her soul and in her eyes, especially when she punches me. I can handle that. Maybe the truth and I do have a different sort of relationship, but I’ve never lied about my feelings for Cat. I’ll do whatever it takes to get her back, even if it means deceiving her.
Alex still knows exactly how to get under my skin, and despite all my intentions, I still can’t resist that body and that smile. Maybe it’s time I turn the tables and seduce the seducer, to finally solve the mystery he doesn’t want me to unravel.

While I have not read any other books in this series, I did not feel like I was missing anything. This was a very entertaining book filled with well written, engaging characters.

Ahmno eejet, I love this series!
I mean who doesn’t love hot men in kilts, right?
Hey maybe even a British Bloke can look good in a (pink?) kilt sometimes, if he is in love with the sexy, sassy Cat MacTaggart and wants to make her happy…what’s a man to do?
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have.
Happy Reading 🙂

Alex and Cat have a passionate history!
For these two archaeology professors, history is everything, and no history is more important than facing what broke them up more than a decade ago. Cat knows Alex isn’t telling her the whole truth, which Alex just can’t bring himself to do, no matter the cost. Not only is he not in touch with his feelings, he’s actively trying to outrun them.
I enjoyed the fireworks at the beginning while these two were still navigating their misdirected passion, and I loved the way the author took us through both Cat’s and Alex’s POV so we could see every step of their rekindled love story. Once all the secrets were out, however, I felt a bit letdown because the reasons for keeping the secrets ended up not being an issue at all, which only made Alex look selfish and petty for not telling her sooner.
The book really takes off when Cat’s brothers and cousins get involved, and I had a lot of fun with the events back at Rory’s castle. There were a few inconsistencies that left some questions hanging, but they were minor and didn’t affect the plot at all.
The author also brilliantly connects these characters to those in another of her series and hinted at another romance ahead. I loved the HEA, and enjoyed the way it segued into an introduction to the next MacTaggart love story.
The author graciously provided the audiobook file along with the ebook ARC, and let me tell ya, if you love accents of any kind, you’re going to want to listen to this book! Both narrators do a wonderful job with the various accents (Scottish, English, American) and the listener is never at a loss as to who is speaking. I’m not a regular connoisseur of audiobooks, but this one truly stands out as a winner.
Let me start by saying that I haven’t read or listened to any of the other books in the series, and I did not feel like I was missing anything by jumping into this audiobook first. Anna does a great job providing backstory and enough info to keep you informed. What a damn fantastic book! I loved it so much I listened to it twice! I could not stop listening. From the hot AF rekindled relationship to all the crazy situations in between. That slow build up of the drama was really good and didn’t overpower the story, it just kept slowly building and building. I’m definitely going back to read/listen to the others now.
Elle is a new to me narrator and I was not disappointed in her performance at all. She has a fantastic voice and did a great job as Catriona of the present and past. Cat is a strong woman now and more badass which was really hammered home by Elle’s performance. I loved all of Cat’s snarky gaelic comments and insults. Elle delivers them perfectly. Her slip from Cat into Alex was pretty seemless as well considering they’re two different accents. I can’t wait to hear more from her.
Shane, man, I think this is some of his best work. He did a great job with Alex. His transitions from one character to another were smooth. Probably his best female voice work to date, at least that I’ve heard. I practically forgot it was him.
First off, I have to say that the entire Hot Scots series should be on your TBR or TBL if you’re a fan of rom-com with a bit of suspense and a lot of naughtiness. This series is so binge-worthy, I promise. Each book is a standalone HEA, and you get to visit with familiar characters in each installment.
On to the latest, Irresistible in a Kilt…
Alex and Cat have a second chance after their relationship ended disastrously a dozen years ago. Alex loves Cat, but doesn’t feel deserving and doesn’t want to drag her into what he feels is a sub-par existence. He’s both arrogant and insecure at the same time. But man, is he wrong! It’s a classic case of trying to protect the good woman from the mess that the man thinks he is, but he’s not at all. And kudos to Cat for being the strong-willed, determined woman that she is and recognizing that the only thing standing in Alex’s way is Alex himself.
Cat and Alex’s interactions are HOT, HOT, HOT from page one, and not just in the bedroom. They clash, they spar, they flirt outrageously, and they talk, nurture and heal, too. Their chemistry is off the charts, and they are not afraid to explore it no matter where they are. That added a really fun element to the book. Anna Durand took the time to really let us know the characters’ personalities, and we also got to visit with some of our favorite McTaggerts siblings and cousins along the way. I love seeing prior characters, especially when the author is true to the character’s nature throughout the series, and Anna Durand definitely knows these McTaggerts inside and out.
As for the narration, Shane East and Elle Newlands really blew me away. They really brought the characters to life, and enhanced the experience of the book. They also took on several different accents and character traits throughout, which made it so easy to tell who was talking when. Scottish, British, American, male, female – they were able to differentiate each and every character clearly, while still bringing the emotion and feeling to the delivery.
A definite A+ listen in my book, and I’m sure I’m going to listen/read this one again.
The book starts off with one of the best lines I have read in quite a while, and doesn’t let up from there. This is Catriona MacTaggart’s story about the man who she loved and left twelve years ago, because he was keeping a secret from her and would not be honest. She left not only Alex Thorne, her lover of two years, but her graduate program in archeology, and had been cursing him with every name she could come up with all these years, until she is confronted with him when her cousin Logan, who has been working for the drat man, brings him to the family Highland games.
He never got over her either and not only tricks her into accepting a position in Montana at the University where he is currently employed, but maneuvers housing so that the only place she can stay is his mansion. She decides that she is going to get the truth from him about the events of twelve years ago no matter what, but soon realizes that she still loves the Limey Louse. He on the other hands starts having second thoughts, until both their lives are in danger by the villain of the last book, which leads to the whole MacTaggart clan getting involved.
Lovers to enemies to lovers again. Fun characters, lots of action make this a great addition to the rest of the series. However, I found some of the family connections a bit confusing and now would be a good time for the author to begin the books with a family tree, especially with the Dixons now connected. Perhaps in the next book about cousin Jack?

Irresistible In A Kilt by Anna Durand
I loved the push and pull between Catriona and Alex. Irresistible In A Kilt is an enemies-to-lovers mix with a second change romance and I happen to love both tropes. That doesn’t automatically guarantees a , but we’re off to a good start!
Story: well developed with a slow build and some unexpected turns
Characters: I adore both characters. They’re not perfect. He’s secretive and arrogant and she’s impulsive and a brat. But both have their hearts in the right place and they develop — albeit slowly.
Flow: I loved the push and pull and although the MCs not always choose logically the story flows well
Writing and editing: good
Steam: the attraction between both characters is palpable, the book is fairly ‘clean’ to my standards
Although the book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone and I haven’t read the previous stories. It didn’t diminish my joy in the book, it does — however — make me want to read the previous ones about this clan.
Definitely stars from me and an absolute recommendation!

A hot Scot gets his second chance with a woman from his past and he must convince her to take a chance on him. I voluntarily received this book for an honest review.
I really enjoyed the way Anna Durand wrote this story. Meeting again after many years, their second chance. Cat knew she still loved Alex, but Alex was thinking he was not good enough. Due to Cat and her persistence they finally got their happily ever after. I have purchased the entire series but this is the first book that I have read, so now to go back and read the whole series and I cannot wait. Great writing, great story, and great characters. Alex did seem to have a string of bad luck.

Betrayed years ago by Alex, Catriona is ready to cause him bodily harm. Alex has a lot of demons and has a hard time opening up. The two of them can’t stay away from each other. Catriona has a change of heart and sets out to get Alex to share his past and open up to her. Alex and Catriona have a lot to work through. There is no shortage of action in addition to the steamy scenes. I have read some of the other books in this series and Anna Durand does not disappoint.
