Ryan: Who is she? What does she want? As if I don’t already know…she wants him. Will I be able to be enough now that she is back? I guess I will have to learn to be enough because I can’t lose him. Russell: Why is she back? What does she want from me? Whatever it is, she won’t get it. Ryan is running scared. But, what my boy doesn’t realize is that I’m still holding his leash. I will only allow … only allow him to run so far. I refuse to lose him.
Claire: I can see that he’s trying to figure out why I’m back. He damn well knows what I want from him. I want perfection back, and I will happily stomp on anyone who gets in the way of that. Including his new ‘boy’. Who, an old friend tells me, “can’t even bow properly.” Getting Russell back is going to be a walk in the park. I won’t be so stupid as to lose him…again.
When it comes to what I want, I have a will of iron…and I want him.

I’m not quite sure how to wrap my head around this being the end of the Trial by Fire Series. There aren’t enough words to describe the beauty, frustration, and passion that bleeds through while reading this story. Ryan a beautifully tragic person, and Russell the man with a heart big enough to carry any burden Ryan my feel he has on his shoulders. You can’t help but fall in love with them. This series will grab you by the heart and never let go. It was amazing to see how this series progressed as it makes you feel like your right beside them as Ryan struggles to come to terms with Russell’s love and compassion for him. Cole is a master of words, and it really shines through in this series. If you’re considering reading this, don’t consider…do yourself a favor and get the entire series and immerse yourself in it.
Cole Denton knocks it out of the park with the epic conclusion to the Fire by Trial series, Iron. This book follows Ryan and Russell as they encounter some challenges to their relationship in the form of Claire – a nasty piece of work from Russell’s past. Strap yourself in for this is a deliciously emotional ride which will make your heart ache, your soul hurt, heat you up and then restore all your faith in mankind. The writing is both efficient and descriptive and simply a joy to read. I love Ryan, he is a beautifully flawed human being, such a pure & joyful soul despite his challenging life experiences. Russell is equally gorgeous in a different way, but they compliment each other so well. I also enjoyed the sidekicks April and Kim who are straight talking, sassy and sarcastic and loyal – what more do you need in a friend? You really need to read the whole series in order to appreciate the story and I highly recommend that you do – it’s a transcendent, badass experience.
It’s the best ending this story could have asked for! Such an amazing story.
A very emotional read! Iron is the fourth book in the Trial By Fire Series. Cole Denton has a magical way of bringing out the emotions. I was all over the gamut with this book. I felt for Ryan throughout this series, in particular this book. Russell is the kind of person you want to have in your life. I really liked Ryan’s friends Aprill and Kim, who were a wonderful reprieve from the emotions of the story. Cole Denton writes in a way that draws you in as a reader. I wish I could give this book more stars. I highly recommend Iron.
This was the perfect ending to a great story!! I love Ryan. Russell is so perfect for him. Thank you Cole for this amazing series and couple!!!
What a wonderful fantastic ending. Russell has been the best thing to happen to Ryan and he just needs to learn to trust and not over think things. Cole Denton has done an excellent writing job on this series. This final 4th book will melt your heart. This is a must read series.
This 4th book In the Trial by Fire series is again one book full of emotions.
Ryans insecurity is almost getting the best of him but Russel doesn’t let him.
I shed some tears towards the end. I got angry at you know who. And I love Russel’s patience and love for his boy. Cole’s writing is getting to me in every book he wrote. You don’t want to miss this series. Go grab your book.
With this book, my love for anything Cole Denton has written was confirmed with Iron. I have loved Ryan and Russell from the beginning and i was not disappointed. I loved, I laughed, I cried (which i rarely do in a book), and I felt every steamy scene. I was a hot mess and loved every minute of reading their story. Cole confirmed his status of a brilliant author that makes you think and shows you that you can overcome anything. Bravo Cole! I loved it!
What insecurities can do to a person? The mind can be a dangerous thing. This was what was going through my mind when I read this story. How the mind can make you believe in things that are not true about yourself. This story shined a big spotlight on that for me. The book makes you feel deep down in your soul about your own insecurities. Denton always has a way to make you reflect about your own personal thoughts and feelings way after the book is done, where you can connect with his characters on some level. Ryan and Russell’s journey has had some twist and turns and even more so in this book when someone from the past comes along. From the very first page it will capture your heart, mind, and time in which you will want to read it all in one sitting. I truly was held hostage with this series and you can tell these characters are near and dear to the author’s heart and mine too. I’ve loved these characters since the beginning and love them even more now. If you are looking for a series that will give you a head spin, may break your heart at times and want one of the most emotional journeys I have ever read this one’s for you.
I wish I could rate this book higher then 5 stars! A much anticipated release! And it did not disappoint! Ryan and Russell have my heart. Russell is soo wonderful and great for Ryan and his needs. Rarely do we find that person for us.. I was ugly crying as warned, but the tears were worthwhile. The ups and downs of this book had me going… And Claire…. Just A female Leonard….can’t use the word I have for her … It is too demeaning of women..but I sure can think it,. As usual, Cole delivered an excellent book, worth of rereading time and again!
IRON (Trial by Fire Book 4) by Cole Denton
This is the conclusion of Russell and Ryan. It is haunting, emotional, angst filled and healing love. Cole Denton is so very good at not only tugging on the heartstrings, but punching the silly thing before he rebuilds it. This is a 5 star read.
Thrilled doesn’t describe well enough how I felt to read another book in the Trial By Fire series by Cole Denton. Iron was a breathtaking emotional and sexy book. I love these characters and would be happy to keep reading about R&R for the next 50 years! I’m in awe of Cole’s talent and so thankful he shares it with us readers.
Well, this was a disappointment.
Sure, this series had me hooked in that I needed to know what happened with Ryan and Russel. I needed to read about their happily ever after.
But Iron really wasn’t particularly well-written. And the plot-line was way too crude.
Also, they way Russel and Ryan are described… Usually in a series, the characters evolve. As a reader, you get to know them, learn more about them and they turn into three-dimensional characters. That was not the case in this series and Iron didn’t add anything to either Russel’s nor Ryan’s personalities. Russel is depicted more or less like a robot, always cool and detached. While Ryan is very much like an overgrown child. There’s lots of talk about love, but unfortunately that love is very difficult to believe in since the guys’ emotions are so poorly conveyed in the story. So I was very disappointed, I had hoped for so much more. I still give this book three stars though. But only because Ryan’s backstory is such a tear-jerker.
