Part Irish, part Anishinaabe Indian, Corcoran “Cork” O’Connor is the former sheriff of Aurora, Minnesota – population 3,752. Embittered by his “former” status, and the marital meltdown that has separated him from his children, Cork gets by on heavy doses of caffeine, nicotine, and guilt. Once a cop on Chicago’s South Side, he’s found that there’s not much left in life that can shock him. But when … when the town’s judge, Robert Parrant, is brutally murdered, and Eagle Scout Paul LeBeau is reported missing, Cork takes on a mind-jolting case of conspiracy, corruption and scandal.

William Kent Krueger writes beautifully. This novel is no exception. Iron Lake gives us a look at corruption and secrets in an area of Aurora, MN called Iron Lake. The story weaves love, loss, politics, and scandal together with the struggle between the white people and those on the Ojibwe reservation. This is a mystery of a suspicious suicide and the town’s cover-up.

I love anything by this author. You can’t go wrong.
Another of my favorite writers. Great stories and characters.
Loved it, it is a great who done it.
I love ALL of the Cork O’Connor books!
This is the .third novel I’ve read by this author, and I’m ready to read more. I love his characters- they’re fully developed and consistently interesting. The relationships Cork has with friends, family members, acqaintences in the community, and members of the Objibwe tribe all combine to carry the narration and make for a fascinating read. I am impressed, too, with Cork’s moral dilemmas expressed in the brilliance of the writing.
I love well written mysteries. This one was great. I only like books written in 3rd person.
Great character. I will look for more Corcoran O’Connor novels!

I really love William Kent Kruger’s writing. His Cork OConner series is one I just cannot get enough of. I look forward to each new book. I believe this is the first one of the series and each person you meet here has a role in the next books. Just good, page-turners every single time.
The first in a wonderful series. Best to read in order. Wonderful characters: flawed and appealing. Good plot, twists and turns that keep you reading. Beautiful in imagery with a skillful tapestry of words. Ready to start #6 and still looking forward to more.
Characters build with each book of this series. The stories are always riveting.
I love Cork O’Connor. I am totally hooked on this series. Well written, cohesive stories.
