“Expect to be spellbound”* by Patricia Briggs’s #1 New York Times bestselling series starring Mercy Thompson. Being a lowly “walker” in a world of vampires, werewolves, and fae once kept her safe. But Mercy’s bark—and bite—are not so harmless any more… mentor, Zee, asks for her help, she’s there for him. A series of murders has rocked a fae reservation, and Zee needs her unique gifts, namely her coyote sense of smell, to sniff out the killer.
But when Zee is accused of murdering the suspect Mercy outed, he’s left to rot behind bars by his own kind. Now it’s up to Mercy to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not.
Mercy’s loyalty is under pressure from other directions, too. Werewolves are not known for their patience, and if Mercy can’t decide between the two she cares for, Sam and Adam may make the choice for her…

I can’t deal with all the emotions this book, mainly in the last 50 or so pages, gave me. It definitely starts off a bit slower than the previous book, Blood Bound, but it picks up. There’s much less action in Iron Kissed than the previous books, but the unsolved mystery elements kept me glued to the pages.
The love triangle (maybe square if you include Stefan) isn’t as annoying as I thought it would be. Probably because Sam’s reason for loving Mercy is so messed up. But I thought the way those relationships unfolded was very well done.
I was initially thinking I’d wind up giving Iron Kissed 3.5 or 4 stars, but it really sucks you in towards the ending. For me, that made up for the slowish start to things.
***Spoiler Warning***
I just want to mention this for myself (so I can look back and know what happens in which book in this series) and anyone that needs trigger warnings. There is a rape scene in this book, and all of the emotions that are involved with the aftermath.
Love all these Patricia Briggs books
Love the series. Always look forward to the next book. A strong female character who is independent; however, able to reach out to others to ask for help. When I start a book in this series, it’s hard to put it down at the end of the day. Always have interesting plots and this book is intriguing. Have never been disappointed in reading a book by this author.
I love Mercy and basically every story in this series. There was a great storyline with a lot more details about the fae included in this one. There was also significant trauma to Mercy. However ultimately I am very happy with the outcome, in particular because it appears that going forward Mercy will wind up with the person I have been hoping for all along. He comes through big time in this one — as does another side character, Ben, who has been someone to be questionable up till this point.
So good, since my original copy was lost to water damage, I bought it again.
just one of the series of ten or eleven so far. this world has believable magic, scary and not so scary vampires, humor, werewolves, and a kick butt leading lady.
I love this series!!!! I own them all! I have read them at least 4 times through! U won’t be disappointed!
The main character is strong yet vulnerable. She knows she might not win but she doesn’t give up
Love this series. Mercedes is a great character. Strong female in an unusual world. Really like that she’s got an untraditional job and is now the owner. Start from the first book and your hooked.
I have all of this authors books and love them all. I love the way she weaves the characters together.
I have reread this series recently and especially like it now that more details and story lines have been revealed. Start and sq one and don’t forget any of her short stories either.
Patricia Briggs writes wonderful stories. While it’s not absolutely necessary to read them in order, it is certainly recommended. At the moment she has two series going – Mercy and Anna – which take place in the same world. My favorite is whichever one I’m currently reading!
I love the mercy books.
I love anyting Patricia Briggs writes.
Whole series excellent, but you can read some of the early ones as independent novels.
The whole series is great. In the multitude of paranormal romance out there Mercy is unique.
I love Patricia Briggs books. Mercy Thompson is a kick-ass heroine that helps friends and not, no matter the cost to her. I fell in love with her from the first book, though this is only the third book I’ve read all ten of them and they are one better then the other.
I know I should be reviewing this book but they are all grand. Thanks Patricia hope to see more of Mercy
I love this series!
Great characters. Great story as a stand-alone or as part of the series. Keeps you turning pages to find out what happens next.
This is a great installment to the Mercy Thompson series. You start learning much more about the Fae and their objects of power. You also gain much more insight into Mercy. There is a disturbing event for Mercy in this story. This is a great series and this book is a catalyst for events in future books. I would start with book 1 and read the series in order.
