THEY ARE COMING. THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN.The discovery of objects approaching from Jupiter orbit sets humanity on edge, sending cities into panic. Most is unknown, but thanks to the popular Astral space app, everyone knows the few facts the government has tried to hide:The objects are enormous spheres numbering in the dozens, maybe hundreds. They are on an approach vector toward Earth … and they … vector toward Earth … and they will arrive in six days.
Entrepreneur Meyer Dempsey is in New York, realizing the time has come to act on all the preparations he’s made without ever consciously knowing why. For years Meyer has been preoccupied by a dreamlike sense of coming peril and knows where he must take his family … if, that is, they can make it before society eats itself alive with fear.
This relentless, page-turning tale of apocalyptic dawn is the first in the Alien Invasion series by masters of story Truant & Platt, authors of The Beam, Robot Proletariat, and many more.

This is a good start for an epic series about alien invasions and the aftermath where humans become overseers. The ending made me want to continue with the next book. I can’t wait to read the ending!
The Invasion series by Sean Platt and Johnny B. Truant is one of the best series I’ve had the pleasure of reading. The final book in the series, “Resurrection,” just released today. Although, I’ve found that anything written by the combination of Platt, Truant, or David Wright is simply AMAZING!!
A great start to the series. You will want to know what is going to happen next. Not for the faint of heart.
A sociological character study of people in an unexpected disaster scenario. Or was it unexpected by all the characters? Gotta read this one!
Great story line. The characters are developed to the point of caring about them & the more things that happen to them, the more the reader cares. The author(s) really get inside the the layers of the characters but, at least at the point of the ending of Book 1, choose not to reveal everything. I suspect that more will follow in the second …
Could not put this one down. Realistic with twists and turns and it just might happen.
Once I was into it, I devoured it and delighted in the emerging independent thinking of the young wife/step-mom facing the unheard of. The now familiar world of apocalyptic evil was pretty routine but still, the premise is interesting and it was a fun read.
Very entertaining reading
Fairly realistic tale of a family dealing with a pending alien invasion….with some interesting twists to keep you guessing. Will have to get second book in series for sure.
I loved this book
I’m ready to read the next installment & see where it leads our characters.
The whole series kept me turning pages
Great read if you like sci-fi you will like this one
Just finished. Couldn’t put it down. Thoroughly, enjoyed the characters, the settings, the suspense, the writing…even an occasional whole-hearted laugh at just the right time.
I’ve seen other reviews where readers did not enjoy this book based on the merit of the characters. Or lack thereof, I should say. Some people seem to be of the opinion that a main character needs to likeable in order to be utilized correctly in a story. I say that is not the case.
Meyer Dempsey is not likeable, but he’s not supposed to be. He is …
The title isn’t really accurate. Yes there’s an alien invasion, but the book doesn’t deal with that. It deals with the lead up to the invasion. It’s a bit slow, but the characters are well-developed and its interesting enough I’m will to give the second book a try.
It’s just the beginning. The action keeps going in the series and spin off novels. Prepare for the aliens and to be entertained.
I was disappointed that this science fiction alien invasion book did NOT have an alien invasion, (until the very last few pages.) You’ll read about a family racing to sanctuary from New York to Colorado, surviving riots, hijacking, panic and chaos. It’s a entertaining read, but with no aliens.
Cliffhanger alert, which reduced the rating.
I liked the realistic approach to the characters journey. Even realizing that it was the start of a series, I hated the ending. Just didn’t get it.
