A TRUCK BOMB OBLITERATES 10 DOWNING STREET. A PASSENGER JET IS SHOT DOWN OVER WEST LONDON. COORDINATED TERROR ATTACKS KILL THOUSANDS. The battle for Europe has begun… In a fortified bunker beneath Whitehall, Prime Minister Harry Beecham is powerless to act as a sudden, inexplicable war rages on the streets above. His government has collapsed, communication networks are down, and family, friends … the streets above. His government has collapsed, communication networks are down, and family, friends and colleagues are all dead. With London in chaos, Harry must escape the city before it falls, but finding a way out will not be easy.
Protected by a small team of SAS soldiers, Harry’s only option is to head west to an emergency government complex, but as they battle their way across the besieged city, it’s clear that things are far worse than any of them could imagine. The target is not just London – it’s the whole of Europe.
As the invasion gathers pace and England buckles before the Caliphate’s military onslaught, the eye of the storm shifts far to the north, where scattered British forces are gathering along an ancient border, stockpiling arms and ammunition and digging in deep as they await the final, bloody battle for survival.

Great read. Makes you think about the future in different ways. Sometimes you believe it could actually happen and at other times no way.
I had to remind myself as i read the first chapters that this is a work of fiction. It is well written and very believable. Can it happen? Read it and decide for yourself.
I am conflicted about this book. It is an imaginative yarn that is in many ways well-told. there is a little factual slippage–for example women in a Muslim official’s house in Iraq would never wear “colorful saris”, as this is women’s wear in Hindu India. Although presumably this was to have happened some time in the future, the majority of military weaponry mentioned is dated to late 20th century. There is no mention of why NATO commitments were not automatically fulfilled when the invasion in Europe began. This makes America’s posture in the story inexplicable.
the most troubling thing about the story is the assumption that Muslim immigrants in the west are terrorist sleeper cells or at least would welcome the prospect of replacing the governments and cultures of their host state with a global Islamic government. There is the further assertion that immigration policies that welcome Muslims are misguided. That is the fundamental premise on which the entire story is based and permeates virtually every page and shapes nearly every character. I personally do not agree and for this reason I found it difficult to enjoy an otherwise well-told story
Interesting premise but a very slow read. The writing drags so much h that the book is completely uninteresting.
Good book
I think that what is portrayed in this book is entirely possible if the current world-wide happenings continue.
really good book
This is the most scary, could happen stories I’ve ever read. Shows what could happen if the Middle East muslims ever organizes and wants to expand the religion beyond.
terrible
Maybe a taste of what could happen in the not too distant future. From that point of view really scary!
The action is well done but the belief that all Muslims are going to turn against the West that is the basis of the book is very unrealistic and bigoted
A work of fiction that could very well become non-fiction. However unsatisfying ending with no true conclusion.
An interesting book that looks at what happens when the US turns to isolationism and if ISIS had won Syria and beyond. There are some items which are not explained, i.e. the preponderance of US high tech military equipment in the hands of the ISIS, which is not explained. The implication is that we assume the US left a lot of equipment behind. While not a bad premise, I think it was overdone with aircraft and probably with the total number of tanks used in the invasion. Still it was an interesting story which makes one think.
Makes you wonder what happens next
Interesting idea, poorly executed. Full of far right xenophobia. The author envisions a dystopic near future where the U.S. has withdrawn completely from the world stage. Plausible under tRump, but not very likely. True Americans know who our friends and allies are. I don’t believe America will leave Europe to the bizarre machinations of a two bit thug like Putin. And, the bad guy Islamists are using American made weapons! Preposterous! In short, this book is beyond belief and should come with a warning to check your intellect and common sense at the door. Save your money, there are far better reads out there.
When I read this, I could actually see this scenario happening in our present day. The warnings are there.
This book was very entertaining and held your interest. Did not want to put it down.
While a bit imaginative it is thought provoking
Excellent book. Hope it’s not prophetic. A Doomsday kind of read.
Very timely considering the current state of world wide immigration issues—religious or not.
