***Trigger warning: mentions of death, suicide and sexual assault are in the book***
From the beginning, we are thrown in to the drama going on. The royal family and Gaia has been poisoned and when she manages to get them out, there are so many other threats to their lives waiting for them. From the crazed uncle who is still coming for them, to a virus threatening to wipe everyone out and then to Gaia finding Emily almost dead, we have so much to digest in one book. But the story manages to transition from each new piece of information seamlessly, all while pulling you in and making it impossible to stop reading.
My only complaint with this book is it does lull a little while they are in the hospital and when we hear from Collin. Collin is pretty dull and doesn’t add much to the story with his perspective. All in all it was definitely a great read.
Book 2 picks up directly from book 1. Gaia is taking on the drug cartels and human trafficking rings and working to help the victims. She has enlisted a strong group to help her and it nearly gets her killed. This series has mystery and suspense to keep you intrigued through every page. There are so many surprises around every corner and the last page of book 2 will leave you wanting to jump right into book 3. I am loving Dominique and Raoul and can’t decide which one I want to win Gaia’s affection. Emily is such a sweet girl and love her strength and resilience. So much depth to these characters. So happy I found Jennifer Rayes!
“She was warned her actions would lead to consequences, but she hadn’t expected her enemies to retaliate so quickly, or so brutally.”
Another enjoyable book in the series. This one lacked something for me, it was possibly because Raoul didn’t appear often and I’m still hoping he’ll get the girl in the triangle. In saying that there were so many good elements that have me caught up in this story. Gaia is a strong female role, going up against her royal family and the traffickers, however she grew stronger in this book. I really want to see the Governor, Carlos and Salim get their just desserts though.
We pick up with the aftermath of the palace poisonings, the survivors and their physical and psychological battles. Gaia proves to be as strong as ever, these bullies won’t deter her from eradicating drug dealers and human trafficking. She blames herself for the revenge attacks and pushes Raoul away for his own and his family’s safety.
Dominique has a mutiny on board and lightens the load on his ship. He has deviated from his persona trying to find a cure for the virus, that he hardly recognises himself. Knowing Gaia deserves someone better than him he buries his feelings for her.
Raoul’s hurt and angry that Gaia lied to him, so he discards her from his life.
Kayamato is being threatened by Salim, who has given a deadline to release the deadly virus on the island.
Carlos is merciless and brutal, he lacks a soul and dwell’s in the depravity of evil. Gaia’s buyer is not backing down, he still wants her as much as he did when he bought her. However things may finally be catching up with him.
Intricate Intentions is the second book in this series and picks up right where book one ended. Gaia, Raoul, and the rest of the royal family have been poisoned with a mysterious virus and are all fighting to recover. Gaia decides to distance herself from the royal family to keep them out of danger. Raoul takes this as an insult and is a complete a$& to Gaia. He is hurt, angry and still trying to recover from the virus but his actions put more distance between him and Gaia.
The chemistry between Gaia and Dominique heats up in book two. While there isn’t a lot of romance in the book the hint of what could be between these two had me on side Dominique.
Gaia finally comes into her own in this book! She’s fierce and out to destroy the traffickers and anyone else that has a hand in the corruption. The tension, twist and turns of book two was so much better than the first book. Of course the ending had me grabbing the next book to see where it all plays out
Suspenseful and Intense!
Book two picks up right were book one left off. This one is just as fast-paced as book one and there are still so many surprises, twists and turns and shocking revelations that will continue to keep you on the edge of your seat in anticipation of what would happen next. I was enthralled and highly entertained from beginning to the very shocking cliffhanger ending!
Gaia is now the Queen and feels it is her duty to wipeout all of the festering evil that lives and breathes in Ica. The fact that she almost dies from being poisoned makes her angrier and stronger in her convictions. She is a fierce Queen but also very kind-hearted and full of love for her family and those she wants to protect.
Also, Gaia seems to have a connection with the pirate Dominique. They have this intensity when they are together that you wonder if there is something else there and maybe he could be a possible love interest? They do have really great chemistry. Poor Raoul has become angry and depressed and I hope he snaps out of it soon to help Gaia.
In this story we are introduced to more of the evil characters. Each one is just as nasty and evil as the other. They are angry, depraved and utterly creepy characters. We also learn the back story of some of the characters and why things happen they way they did.
This addicting series will definitely keep you hooked with its fast-paced suspense and drama, plus all of the shocking twists! This story is an intense and suspenseful tale of intrigue and mystery leaving us readers in shock wondering what the hell is going to happen next.
I can’t wait for the next book!!! Highly recommend this series.
Ok so I am more of a romance junky and this book had only a touch of romance really. But, that being said, the story itself made up for it. The first book had a lot going on yet this book was off the charts intrigue, and deception. A lot is revealed and answered, yet you still are left with even more questions. And the cliffhanger is insane! But since I’m reading these with all the books already released I recommend anyone interested to jump on in to this series!
Ummm….what just happened? Book two is captivating and even better than the first. The mystery and cloak and dagger aspects are even more intense.
I read and reviewed a copy of this book.
If you love dark romance and haven’t read this author and this series, then I urge you to get on board and start reading this author. This is the second book in the series, and it is just as fabulous as the first book is. This book is another page-turner and despite being over 200 pages long it’s a book that I felt compelled to read in one sitting. There are twists and turns galore in this book and it ends on a tantalizing cliff hanger that has made it so that I have no choice other than to read book three as soon as possible. These characters are going through so much it’s unbelievable and then other characters are so evil and conniving. A must-read book/series.
Intricate Intentions is book two in the Intricate series and ends on a cliffhanger. This series must be read in order.
Gaia wanted changes to take place when she became Queen. She never expected the lies, secrets, betrayals and deceptions that would slowly be revealed or the enemies that would attack once she started her fight for what’s right. Her Majesty started a war and when her and others are poisoned she makes a decision that changes everything. Now she’s more set to destroy those who wronged her and others more than ever.
The story goes on and I kind of miss a connection in this book between Raoul and Gaia. But I love the connection between Dominic and Gaia.
This story I’s still great. The paste is great the characters are wonderful I liked Emily and what she become. There are a lot of people involved in this book I had a difficult time remembering who is who . I am still curious about the 3rd book.
Thank you Jennifer for this ARC!
This book picked right up where the first one ended. It’s another one full of twist and turns, full of suspense. Gaia was stronger in this book, you can tell she is growing in her position as Queen. I think she will continue to get stronger, she is still a little to trusting. Raoul was an a@@ and really hurtful to Gaia, it will take a lot of me to like him again. He didn’t have very many scenes in this book. Dominique is still my favorite. We learn more about his pass and it’s heartbreaking. Emily is becoming very interesting!!! There were new characters that brought some light into the virus story. There isn’t a lot of romance in these books, just one part that you could call romance happened in this story. I need more romance/sexy times 🙂 Great job again Jennifer, I will be moving to the next one soon!!!
