They’re two of the city’s most toxic, unlovable people. Clearly, it was meant to be.DREW BENTONCall me what you want. A rake. A cad. A professional heartbreaker. I’m all those things and more. A man who’s hired to ruin the women who have broken your lives and taken you for everything you’re worth. If you’re a man of means and have a vendetta against your vindictive ex? I’ll become her worst, most … vindictive ex? I’ll become her worst, most charming, and devilishly sexy nightmare.
So when I get a call to hop down to Portland and check out Stumptown’s own resident succubus, I don’t think twice.
I did not expect to meet my match.
Cher Lieberman isn’t just a gorgeous girl with chameleon-like charm and fangs full of venom. She’s responsible for half the broken hearts in Portland, and she thinks I’m her next target.
Little does she know, I’m both playing her – and falling in love with her.
CHER LIEBERMAN
I know what they call me. A lone wolf. A wily minx. A piranha prowling the rivers of Portland and getting off on making men cry. Half this town has been my lover, and I have no shame when I say I don’t miss a single one of them.
I don’t need love. It doesn’t need me. All I need is enough money to live my life in independent bliss. Not my fault God gave me the body and brains to destroy half the rich fools in this city.
But there’s something different about Drew, isn’t there? I know he’s the heir of a vast and old fortune. I also know he’s never had a girlfriend for more than a few weeks. He thinks I’m a puzzle to be solved? A personality disorder to be diagnosed? He should take a look in the mirror and figure out his own problems, like why he treats women like they were born to please him.
He’s different because he does something to me. Something no other man has. As I play his games and up the ante around every turn, I realize that the pounding in my heart isn’t just meeting the beat of my loins.
It’s love, ain’t it? And there’s no greater fright than that when you were not born to love.
INTOXICATED is a standalone romance with a happy ending – and a lot of sass, steam, and unbelievable behavior in between! This isn’t your mother’s romance novel, although she’ll probably want to borrow it.

This steamy book had a good storyline with characters that were so well rounded that I was totally enthralled throughout the entire book!
Two intoxicated and toxic people find each other
Intoxicated was the first time I have read Cynthia Dane so I was not sure what to expect as I did not know if I would like her writing and story-telling styles or not. Well I did on both counts. This story of Cher Lieberman and Dre Benton is completely engaging and at times funny and other time cringe-worthy. Both of them are truly terrible characters, not the writing but the actual characters. When they get together it is a whole other terribleness that is whipped up between them. But yet somehow and someway they work together and it is enough to make it interesting. Plus there is a HEA, lord only knows how these two end up with a HEA. But if they do then there is hope for anyone to get their own HEA.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
What happens when two dysfunctional, completely disliked people get together? A toxic mess that is Drew & Cher! He’s a professional hired by men to break their evil ex’s hearts. She’s a sugar baby with issues. Yep…
Honestly, I can’t say that I liked either Drew or Cher, especially Cher. But their story is very readable and engaging. Not sure why, I just know that my interest was definitely kept as I was reading. Both of them are shitty people, really, but their innermost thoughts are interesting to say the least. I really don’t think they should be a couple, but who else would honestly want either of them? Not a nice person, so two assholes being together makes sense in a twisted, toxic sort of way.

The plot of this book is very interesting.
I found the relationship between Drew and Cher
was one that had me turning the pages to see if
they would be able to form a permanent relationship.
There twist and turns drama and slow burn in this read
that definitely kept me attention.

This was an interesting book. It’s told in first person by both Drew and Cher. Cher is a woman who finds herself with rich men who lavish her with money, jewelry, trips, etc. She never really commits. When it gets to serious she quits. Leaving a long line of broken hearts. That’s when Drew comes in. He’s in business to take those women who break hearts and gets revenge for those who employ him. Cher is Drew’s mark but things don’t exactly work out that way. Cher and Drew have a hate – hate relationship. They press and push each others buttons. A perfect storm. Journey with them through their ups and downs. Can two somewhat broken people make it together? I really loved this story and the way it was told.
Drew is a hired to ruin her. Cher doesn’t need love, just money from the men she goes after. Once Drew finds his mark, he finds her more attractive than he originally thought. Can he keep this professional and ruin her or will she change him?

This book is uniquely Cynthia Dane!! I’ve never read this plot line before and loved the twist, competing heartbreakers, he’s out for a client’s revenge, she’s trying to “feather her nest”. What they didn’t expect was the attraction to each other. This book is a fast, sexy, well written read, written form both Drew and Cher’s POV. I have read a number of Cynthia’s books and she does not disappoint.

A slow burn read with a unique storyline, complex characters, incredible chemistry, steamy sex scenes, witty banter, suspense, which all leads up to love. My only complaint about this book is that the story just seemed to take forever to get to the end.

Loved the book it was great the story was well written and the characters were interesting. Cher having the time of her life until she met Drew, they are completely the opposite of each other. This book was so full of emotions that you need tissues and a cold drink.
Thank you for allowing me to review this book it was great.

Cher Lieberman is beautiful, in her mid-twenties, a college graduate, and has no intention of working nine to five. Instead she “makes her living” by luring rich, usually older men into her web and taking as much from them as she can, they pay her rent, give her money and pretty much anything else she fancies. Dre Benton is unapologetic about the way he makes his money, He comes from and extremely wealthy Portland family, but his business is startlingly similar to Cher’s. He tracks down women who have “wronged” wealthy men, and gives them a taste of their own medicine.
OMG, I loved this book! You wouldn’t thind Cher and Drew would find anything in common, let alone work as a couple, but they are perfect for each other. They are sexy, funny, complex characters, that in my opinion, use their innate abilities to get a read on their target and use that to their advantage. At times the characters seemed to be speaking to the reader, while justifying their actions, I thought that was hilarious, and unique. The relationship between these two takes time to develop, and will have to do some serious soul searching, but in the end they will get their happily ever after. Fantastic book.

From just sex to love!
Cher and Drew are complete opposites except for one vital character trait: They both REALLY enjoy sex. She is responsible for many of the broken male hearts in Portland. He is a “professional” heartbreaker getting back at the women that have broken his clients hearts. Interesting characters that collide, and then seem destined to have a relationship. This relationship is certainly “one for the books” and has its ups and downs.
Great and unique story that is creatively brought to life by the super talented Ms. Dane.

Ok so I didn’t like the hero or heroine. They were emotionally twisted people. I know that I was warned ahead of time about the characters and I read it anyways. I wish I hadn’t. The dirty words and sex didn’t bother me. It really was just the messed up characters. Oh well maybe I’ll like the authors next book.

I loved this book and found it hard to put down. So steamy it’ll set your Kindle on fire. Well written with strong, well developed characters and a page-turning story. Cher and Drew were a force not to be taken likely. Separately they’d both broken a lot of hearts and together they were a match like no other. Raunchy and steamy for sure. Once I started I found this book hard to put down. I read an arc via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review.
Drew & Cleo are the male & female version of the other in work & play. She’s his target for a client however initially he views her motives as a bit of a gold digger but the more he gets to know her they are very much the same. Although Drews born into wealth he wants to make his own way. I loved the banter & chemistry of our protagonists however while it drips wit & sarcasm at times it did get a bit much for me. Drew was actually a decent guy & Cleo underneath her mask was quite vulnerable.
Overall I enjoyed the tale.

Can Cher and Drew get beyond their pasts to find true love
This is my 5th book by Cynthia and I love authors who write in dual point of view. Yet this has a twist of each talking in their head or more explaining to the reader what they are thinking. Drew is hired to make Cher’s life hell but with their constant analyzing of each other, they find mutual common ground. When Cher discovers Drew’s hidden intent, things change between them. But can two people who are set to play the other person, able to find true love? You have to read to find out and will be rooting for the happily ever after!
Meeting between two rough souls
Excellent story very well written, with characters both bitter, sarcastic and disillusioned about romantic relationships, but whose job is to play the foolish lovers. Their path seems lacking romance, and has a part of coarseness, roughness in this relationship full of manipulations, while they are self-seeking themselves.
Cher specialized in the scam of rich men to maintain her way of life, and Drew’s work, with this kind of scammer, is to legally take back money, or to break their heart, or to hurt their self-esteem.
Cher has become the new victim of Drew, but what will be the price ?
It’s exciting, twisted, moving, romantic, extremely hot. This story is excellent from the beginning to the end because the characters are well defined, chiseled.
This is the first time I’ve read a story about Cynthia Dane, and I’ll do it again with pleasure.

Decent length sizzling novel with some clarity issues. I found this book rather difficult to get into. The author’s approach was interesting and she has created a very unusual introverted self-discovery analysis that both the main characters exhibited. Many books have different chapters described from the point of view of one person or the other. However, I have never before read something that delved so deeply into the character’s most inner thoughts, feelings, soul, motivation, being, philosophy and self. At times I found the whole approach very hard to follow as both characters indulged in justifying their own life choices and went off on a tangent about their feelings and expectations from others. The story centres around Cher Lieberman, a self-confessed sugar baby out to get as much financial gain as she can from rich men. She meets her match in Drew Benton, handsome alpha millionaire who’s business is to dish out revenge to and morally/ emotionally/financially destroy the women who wronged his clients. These two characters meet and clash like the Titans. The one that made me blush more than once was Cher’s character. Her language at times belonged to the gutter. I found her character totally conflicted, full of ambiguity, enigmatic, uncertain and confused, unable to convey what she wants. She can’t tolerate genuine love or any of her marks wanting to marry her. She values her independence, yet demands a total lack of judgements from the men. Cher and Drew start a tempestuous affair based on a burning sexual desire and their ‘love-making’ takes no prisoners. They have a healthy loathing for one another that gradually somehow takes on the form of liking, acceptance and the final realisation of love. There is a HEA to this book but I wish that some of the content was clearer to understand and relate to.
