Lake Campbell’s world came crashing down with just one phone call. Her parents were dead, and she was catapulted into a full-blown adult whether she was ready or not.Without support from her boyfriend, Lake found herself a guardian to her siblings and the owner of the family’s fledging bakery, not to mention a house that was falling down around their ears.Life as she knew it was changed forever. … it was changed forever. Especially when a hunky hose man walked into her bakery asking for catering … and a kiss.
All of a sudden her sexy daydreams of firemen with kittens and puppies became very real.
Carson Hogan had a lot on his plate. His ex-wife was spending money faster than he could earn it, his two daughters were out of control, and to his utter shock, becoming too much like their mother. And he was doing his best to protect his son from the crazy women in his life. Add a stressful but fulfilling job, he wasn’t looking for anything else.
At least he thought he wasn’t. Until he entered the bakery across the street to find a silver eyed blonde sprite begging for sex … sort of.
Love blossoms quickly between the two but with all the outside interferences promising to ruin their new found love, will they risk everything and walk into the fire and claim their happily ever after?

If you are into insta love stories then this is the book for you!
Lake Campbell is the legal guardian of her brother and sister and owner and manager of a local cafe. She is literally scraping through on a song and a prayer but at twenty-three is doing remarkably well all things considered. Enter one hunky, hot hose man! Fire station boss, Carson Hogan, is a divorced father of three who walks into Lake’s cafe and likes what he sees.
This story has that feel good touch right from the beginning however there is so much more. Great stand up characters help to make this book as well as some real stinkers too! The old good and evil characters? Well these evil ones I think wrote the book on how to be selfish, self-centred, narcissistic individuals and that’s putting it mildly. Why am I spending so much effort describing them? Well they play a huge part in this story and they do make it very interesting and at times quite nail bitingly nerve wracking too!
The lead characters might have an age gap but it doesn’t make any impact at all, Lake had to grow up very quickly after her parents death at the age of twenty. Plus she was always a quieter, more mature type of girl. For Carson it was his second chance to fall in love and without a doubt he deserved it.
So what does this story offer readers? Romance and passion, drama and suspense, family values and work ethics in a small town community, all the emotions including good humour and so much more.
Hot, Hot, Hot.
Wow this book was so hot it sizzled right off the pages. Carson my god i think I have a new book boyfriend. Lake is one mighty fierce strong woman to not only raise her siblings after their parents death but take on the family buisness thats not doing so well . She had the weight of the world on her shoulders until one hot hoseman walks into her cafe and tilts her world on its axis. Things for Lake and her siblings will never be the same again. Carson knows what he wants and what he wants is Lake his little sprite however the ex from hell and his two daughter’s bring destruction that Carson never dreamed would be possible . I love an over the top alpha i also love older men so this story had all my boxes ticked . I can’t wait to devour the next book in the series i hope its as hot as this one .
Absolutely loved this book. Highly recommended this book and author. Looking forward to book 2
I love the start of a new series, and Leah Sharelle has hit it out of the park with this one! The Firemen Do It Better series is again set in Australia, like her Wounded Souls series, and actually does feature some of the MC characters. Loved seeing some of them come back!
This new one features, of course, a hot and alpha fireman, Carson Hogan. And I can definitely say that he totally got shafted his first go round and definitely comes up a winner in his second. Carson is a very sweet and loveable character, but definitely does have a strong personality and dominant tendencies. But he also has a lot on his plate that he has to deal with and total psycho-spoiled rotten ex that rears her head.
Lake Campbell is such a sweet and endearing character in this story. Her strength, and vulnerabilities, really drew me to her character and had me rooting for her. But when push came to shove, she could totally throw down with the best of them. And she really had to deal with some drama from the ex and Carson’s kids.
INTO THE FIRE was awesome! The chemistry between Carson and Lake was instantaneous and consuming. I could totally understand when Lake felt overwhelmed, but Carson was there to sooth that, which just endeared them more to me. The storyline was a paced well, and the drama at times was high. There are a couple of characters that totally deserved a throat punch or two (in my opinion!).
So overall, a well written story that kept me entertained. As the first in a new series, this definitely set the bar high. I highly recommend this story because it has passion, danger, drama, and love! Two thumbs up and happy reading!!
This book was so much fun! I couldn’t help but fall in love with the characters, and there were some turns that caught me by surprise! It’s different from previous books by this author, but still everything we’ve come to love about her writing!
Lake has had a life filled with hard knocks, but is still a happy person. She lost her parents at a time when most people are only beginning their adult lives, and took custody of he 2 minor siblings. She owns a struggling diner that she is determined to make successful. But regardless of how much is thrown at her, she goes about her day with a smile on her face. There is just one tiny thing missing from her life……
Carson is a firefighter, with a failed marriage behind him. He has 3 kids, and a crazy ex. He is content with his life, until he spots Lake when he goes to get cupcakes, and that was enough to change his whole world. Despite an age gap, and lack of support from his older children, there is an undeniable connection between Lake and Carson.
This book was really great. I enjoyed the banter between Carson and Lake, as well as their fiery connection. There were a few surprises along the way, that kept me reading, and the story was written in such a way, that I couldn’t help but be pulled into the story. I can’t wait for more stories in this series!
