I used his body to forget the pain until the line we drew was buried under muddied water.
I used to believe in three things:
That true love only existed once, heartbreak couldn’t kill you, and everything happened for a reason.
But if that were true, I never would have watched Daniel McCray get married to another woman, have a beautiful baby girl, and pass away before my very … eyes.
Everything I believed was a lie.
Until I met them.

I really don’t know how to describe how I feel about this complicated, mysterious love triangle. I wanted to love everything about this book and based off the book blurb alone, this story had the makings of a sad, angsty, passionate read that I normally love. The problem with Into the Clear Water is that there were too many characters added to an already troubling plot.
Piper is a mess of emotions. She seemed too emotionally unstable for a relationship in general, let alone to give any piece of her heart to two wonderful, hot guys like Easton and Carter. These guys are not perfect either, Easton is standoffish and distant at times and Carter is a distant family friend that she has lost contact with for years (for very valid reasons). I liked the characters and I love an angsty love triangle, but the scenario just felt forced in this story.
I love B. Celeste’s other books, and if you want to read a story that will grab your heart and mind for hours after reading it, I recommend reading one of my favorites from her, Underneath the Sycamore Tree.
B. Celeste quickly became one of those authors whose book I get without knowing the premise of them, and I can say I’ll keep doing it. As soon as I read the first sentence I was sucked in! I could not put it down! I loved this story. As the book goes on you realize that Piper hasn’t had an easy life. Then she finds herself in a love triangle!! man i wish it could’ve gone on longer. I wish it never ended! You will feel so many emotions with this story you won’t know what to do!
Once again, B. Celeste ignites all the feelings inside my body! Her books always me me FEEL and I am so thankful to have found an author who sets my emotions on fire. Into the Clear Water is a standalone romance. This is a single mom, love triangle romance (the love triangle isn’t too angsty though, so don’t worry if that’s not your thing), filled with emotion. There were moments that tears sprung to my eyes, and moments where I swooned. All around it’s just a wonderful, heartwarming read with a slew of characters I deeply connected with. I’m hoping the end of this one is setting us up for the next book (**crosses fingers**) but we will see!!!
I’ve been reading B. Celeste’s books since her first one was published and haven’t been disappointed. She writes the BEST forbidden romances and I am always anxious about her upcoming releases. Her characters (like those in this book) are realistic, flawed, and honestly comforting. I love the issues they overcome and how the plots are always unique. Sigh.. I could go on and on about the things I love about her books (including this one) but that would be really long to write. So I’ll leave it at this: you WANT to meet Easton and Piper. You’ll WANT to experience their love story from beginning to end. And you’ll WANT them to be real people because you just can’t imagine not spending more time with them. This is a fantastic novel and I highly recommend it!
“I used his body to forget the pain until the line we drew was buried under muddied water.”
Gahhh! I LOVE this book so much!
From the very beginning, Into the Clear Water had ahold of my heart. Feels stacked on feels, and then I finished with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. Words I never thought I’d say where a love triangle is involved.
Piper is selflessness and strength. Her world turned upside down and that can change a person. However, the way she handled and fought for herself, a better life, and for Ainsley were nothing short of amazing.
Easton Wyatt and Professor Carter Ford—where do I even begin?! They were complete opposites, but both incredible in their own unique way. Each bringing an intensity of emotion, appreciation, and love to Piper that she didn’t think she deserved. I loved them both!
This book was so much more than a woman’s heart being pulled in two different directions. It’s a story laced in poignancy and heartbreak. A story of overcoming obstacles, and finding a powerful, unexpected love in more than one way.
Into the Clear Water has become one of my favorite books of the year so far!
Oh my Heart, I loved this story.
I was hooked from the beginning.
Piper’s life isn’t easy but she never complains about it.
Her past is revealed throughout. Add in a mysterious, broody roommate and an old friend turned professor and this was one heart-stopping love triangle.
Ainsley was certainly the unsung hero in the book. This little girl just had me wrapped around her finger. And her friendship with Easton just gave me life.
I want more, I wish this story never ended. <3
4 Intense emotional all the feels stars !!!
This book was a little hard for me to get into at first idk if it was me or the book was just a little too slow for me at first but as I kept reading I found it a really intriguing and intense emotional read ! My heart really broke for Piper and the situation she found herself in I did not envy her ! The characters of this story I adore and Easton ughh I am definitely #TeamEaston his kind heart towards Ainsley and patience and loyalty towards PiperI found as a huge turn on. This book is a great read and I definitely recommend if you are a fan of B. Celeste than you’ll love this love triangle romance story !
*** I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book ***
4.5 You are IT stars!!
Barbara Celeste strikes BACK and takes you into the most wonderful journeys….
Into the Clear Water narrates the story of 26 year old Piper who, because some unfortunate life circumstances (won’t spoil you that), ends up as a guardian to 5 year old Ainsley who is a selected mute.
Piper’s life is turned upside down as a result of these events but let me tell you….there’s NOTHING she wouldn’t do for this little girl even though her life is far from being resolved.
The dynamics between these two is EVERYTHING and I loved seeing her character evolve through the book.
Add to the the mix to Easton, a brooding, enigmatic, inked roomate and Carter,a friend from the past turned professor turned something more and you have a love triangle (don’t worry, there’s no cheating) filled with steamy moments that will have you rooting to see who Piper ends up with (I’ve always knew who I was rooting for)
This book is emotional, angsty and heartbreaking but also incredible beautiful. Hooked from page one,the story has a way that it makes you connect with the characters and feel what they are feeling…I have no words.
I loved EVERY SINGLE BIT ABOUT IT!
The cherry from the cake? The relationship between Ainsley & Easton that absolutely STOLE MY HEART.
First let me start off by saying WOW
Another great book by B.Celeste
She has such an amazing talent for writing. She is by far my most favorite Author I haven’t read not 1 book of hers that I didn’t fall in love with. Thank you for another great book……. Now on to my review.
This book was my favorite of all her stories. This book had a great network of strong characters that you will love. Piper was a strong fierce loving woman. I absolutely loved piper and all she had accomplished given her circumstances. I love how she took care of and stood up for Ainsley. I really liked both Easton and Carter. I think I loved Easton the most because the way he was with Ainsley. You could just tell he loved both of them from the beginning. Carter was sweet and caring towards piper and I did love his character as well. I loved how Carter stood up for piper and defended her. He was a great character also. I think Barbra made the best choice in who she chose for piper to End up with. All in all I really really really loved this book.
An endearingly beautiful story of grief, sacrifice, love and trust.
Piper is sweet but fierce. She love’s and protects Ainsley with her heart and soul. I love that Piper doesn’t put pressure on Ainsley. she loves her has she is and helps her cope with her grief while dealing with her own.
Piper is an incredible woman. Her and Eastons relationship is complicated and steamy. They have loads of chemistry and tender moments. Easton dotes on Ainsley, its so sweet. A face from Pipers past brings up a load of old complicated feelings that makes her realise how she truly feels, what and who she wants.
A compassionate, delightful and enthralling story.
B. Celestes words flowed effortlessly.
What a breathtaking and heartwrenching journey!
NOT just for the characters in this book but for myself as a reader! One major reason I love B. Celeste’s books so much is because of the emotions she includes in her books and also the intense range of emotions she evokes from me.
Into The Clear Water is no different.
I knew going in that this would be emotional, seeing as we knew that Piper was in love with her best friend and then she lost him. After losing her best friend and being completely thrown off her life path; she closes herself off and focuses on her main priority….raising her best friends little girl Ainsley. Although completely unprepared for this life task; it doesn’t begin to stop her from doing her very best for this sweet little soul. The relationship between these two is not just heartbreaking at times because of what connects them but also filled with joy and love.
Somehow along the way of trying to get back on track profession wise; Piper becomes trapped between two men and her feelings for these two men. Easton and Carter both came at her during different times in her life and they each help her grow in different ways without her realizing it’s even happening.
My emotions got the best of me when it comes to these two guys; I won’t say whose team I’m on or who wins her heart in the end. Just that I truly love the different angle on a love triangle that B. Celeste took with this one. FYI….Just to let you guys know there’s no cheating in this book. I know that generally comes along with love triangles but not this one. I don’t have any triggers with cheating or any problems reading it; but I do know some that do.
There’s so many aspects of this book that touched my heart but the most important of them all is Piper realizing that not only does she need the love that she so freely gives to others but that she also deserves it. I TRULY LOVE the person she chose to love and accept that love from in the end.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
I also have to say that the ending of this book gives me such high hopes for B.’s future books. I NEED ALL HER WORDS!
Into The Clear Water was an emotional, angsty romance that will give you all the feels. This love triangle will will take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride. The characters are flawed, complex individuals who you will love and you will enjoy experiencing this love story from beginning to end. The story was told in the h’s POV and you will be at the edge of your seat wondering who will win Piper’s heart. Piper’s character developed so much through out this story and it was a pleasure to go on this journey with her. I enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to all lovers of emotional love triangles.
Into the Clear Water was a beautiful and emotionally riveting love story that squeezed my heart with all the angsty feels I could dream of and then some.
Piper was such an endearing heroine who burrowed her way into my heart early on. I loved watching her learn to trust and follow her heart. I felt like I was right there alongside her as she came into her own and found the happiness she so deserved. Her journey by no means easy. It was messy, broken, complicated yet one that forged a strong and incredible survivor.
Into the Clear Water was an emotional rollercoaster of a read for me. My emotions bounced all over the place as I laughed, cried, hoped, ranted, swooned and was then left with a huge grin plastered on my face. Every character throughout Piper’s story added another amazingly complex and interesting layer to this story that I couldn’t get enough of. After this emotionally captivating read I can only hope that the little hints along the way lead to more amazing stories to come.
HOLY WOW!! You most definitely don’t want to miss out on reading this gem.
I was really quite blown away by this book. I love when a book makes me feel something and this one really pulled every emotion from me. There’s so much pain, yet so much love and the way that Barbara balances it all makes the book thoroughly enjoyable. I went into this thinking that I would maybe like it and ended up loving it. The whole love triangle thing isn’t really for me, but it was very tastefully done. The way that this book is written and the story that Barbara weaves is one of the reasons I love reading. I really cannot emphasize enough how beautifully written this story is while delving into serious topics, simply put, it’s just real. Overall, there were so many times I wanted to scream at Piper or Carter or Easton, most of all Piper. I just wanted so badly to steer her in the right direction. I also didn’t really care much for Jenna’s meddling if I’m being honest. This is a definite must read, so get ready for Ainsley to steal your heart.
If you haven’t read B. Celeste yet, do yourself a favor and buy her books today. With each new book she releases, Celeste manages to steal a piece of my heart. Her characters are real. Their relationships and emotions are honest and raw and can be felt like a physical touch. Into the Clear Water was written so eloquently, each word carefully chosen to draw the reader into the story and never let go. My heart ached for these characters as they navigated their way to and from each other. I felt every loss and triumph as they did. B. Celeste is an immediate 1-click author for me and I will definitely be shouting about this book to everyone.
This is my emotions during this book.
Yes LOVE!!
I LOVE it!
Oh no!
I’m starting to get nervous.
He’s my favorite!
Why?
I can’t read this anymore.
Oh thank goodness.
YES!!!!!
I loved it. It takes you on a ride and I’m so happy with how this book ended that it was actually my favorite part.
Overall Rating – +
Wow! B, you have outdone yourself. From the minute I started reading, I was completely swept away. This is the first book in a long time that I could not put down and I pulled an all-nighter to finish it and was 110% worth it.
We start with a little mystery with Piper, building on the story that is to come. I must say, I had no idea where the story was going and it was so addictive, completely playing with my mind and heart.
Piper has been blessed with Ainsley in her life and you will fall so hard for this little girl and the special relationship she has with her.
Due to financial circumstances, she takes on a roommate, Easton, who she has a friend with benefits agreement with. Easton is quiet, broody, sexy, a tattoo artist and will do anything for her and Ainsley. His dedication and gestures to them completely swept me off my feet.
Then along comes Carter. Pipers childhood crush and now her college professor. Although things start off a little rocky, they have a bond from their past and they share a mutual attraction. Piper becomes his TA and things really progress from there.
The book is set up as a long triangle, but note, there is no cheating. The story between Piper, Easton and Carter is utterly captivating and there is no point where you can know for certain who will come out on top. Both men have their appeal and I swooned over both of them. But, the heart wants what it wants and it’s an angst filled journey to get there.
Piper is such an admirable heroine. There were so many times I had tears in my eyes for her with the choices she had to make, changing her whole life. The circumstances around Ainsley broke my heart and I loved this little girl knowing she had someone who would love her unconditionally.
I have been a Celeste fan from her first book and have read all her releases and her stories are incredible, but this book owned my heart and soul and made me feel so much. I highly recommend it and it’s definitely a top book of 2020 for me. I know I’m being a little greedy, but I would love a little more, even an extended epilogue with Piper and her true love, basically, I just need more, I didn’t want it to end.
ARC received for an honest review – thank you

Yet again Ms Celeste has taken me on an emotional ride with Into The Clear Water. I love this authors books because they are guaranteed to make me feel and this one surprisingly even brought a tear to my eye.
Piper is a great character. She’s strong, independent and a fighter. I loved how nothing kept her down for long. There were times when I disliked her though. She can be closed off emotionally and she does some things that I didn’t like but she needed to help her grow. The men in her life had me all conflicted! I picked my guy and I was 100% on his side wanting him to win the girl but the other guy is a really good man and he’d be perfect…just not for piper in my eyes anyway.
This story is emotional. It’s got a love triangle of sorts going on but it’s not as angsty as I was expecting. I loved seeing the change in Piper throughout the book, to see her accepting and moving on made me feel all warm inside. This book is definitely worth a read.
“I’m drowning. Drowning in my indecision and pain, wondering if I’ll survive if I submerge myself under the murky waters of my conscious.”
B Celeste delivers another heartbreaking story that has touched my soul once again.
Piper’s story is one of pain, acceptance, and selflessness. She is so incredibly strong and has lived through more in her life already than most do in a lifetime. But she never gives up. She always puts others before herself. She doesn’t complain. She just keeps pushing. I envy her.
“Two men. Two very different situations.”
Carter and Easton are totally opposites. Where one is light and open, the other is dark and closed off. I won’t say any more because I don’t want to give ANYTHING away.
I had a couple issues with this book.. One being that I felt like it was a little slow. I needed something to happen. When I think love triangle, I think angst, heartbreak, possession. I just didn’t feel the normal B Celeste angst that comes in her stories.
The characters were absolutely amazing but I don’t know.. I just needed more. All together, I rate this book 3.5 stars.
“I could never be what he needed. Because he needed her.”
Leave it to B. Celeste to bring me to tears and feel so many emotions with Into the Clear Water. This book is heart wrenchingly beautiful and I loved it from the very first page. Piper is still mourning the death of her best friend Danny while also raising his daughter Ainsley. Even though her love wasn’t reciprocated by Danny she loves that little girl as if she were her own. But how do you try to move on with your life when the person who was more like your better half is gone? This book is real and raw and I felt every heartbreak and emotion that Piper went through. Easton and Carter come into Piper’s life when she needed them the most. One makes her see that it’s ok to move on and not live in guilt, but to live and be happy. The other makes her learn how to feel, to be loved and love. Piper goes through hell and back, but she never gave up. I loved her character, she’s determined and a fighter. I always say this whenever I recommend a book by B. Celeste, your not just reading a book your gaining an experience. I cannot wait for another experience from this amazing author!
Soooo here goes… I am probably NOT ready to tell you ALL about this story but I am STILL gonna try. I can’t decide if reading this book was therapeutic or I now need to be in therapy. SO FLIPPING GOOD!
Piper is hands down, one of my favorite characters that I have experienced in, well, forever. She is not only trying to forgive herself for missteps, raise a beautiful little girl, finish her own education, but also figure out who she loves.
This story is a full read experience with many beautiful details intertwined, it is hard to explain. Truthfully, I don’t want to say too much not only because it is challenging to articulate but I want you to live through your own emotional journey.
Plan for a messy tale with a variety of characters, weaving in and out, driving a depth to this awesome read. You will not get perfect characters here but intriguing ones who keep you needing to read more.
Piper needs to not only deal with having motherhood thrown at her but also figure out relationships while dealing with her own grief. Her finding her way, learning to love and find her voice is so magical. When her “momma bear” comes out, all I can do is stand up and cheer. Ainsley’s story breaks my heart and fills it at the same time. What a special little girl. When Piper gets an opportunity to call out some of her family members on their BS, it is priceless. It isn’t vindictive but soooo appropriate.
Yes you will get spicy moments in this story. Did you notice I haven’t mentioned our hero’s name? I am NOT going to either. You guys, Piper recognizing who she should be with and why… ugh, it leaves me speechless. This book is entirely done in Piper’s POV so when you get clarity about her dude (hint, hint, read to understand) it is perfection.
Enjoy this five star book! Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO
