We had our daughter at sixteen. We were married at eighteen. Now that she’s grown and away at college, I feel lost. We were parents long before we were husband and wife, and I’m not sure who we are outside of mom and dad.The sight of him still makes my heart race, but I’m dying to know if my husband still feels the connection we shared years ago, or if it’s fizzled after years dedicated to giving … years dedicated to giving our daughter the best life possible.
I’m hoping the secluded couples resort Inhibitions holds the answers.
Popular for their fantasy-indulgent activities, the place is known for making or breaking marriages. But with each sexier-than-sin fantasy, he has no idea I’m testing him…testing us.
And in my quest for intimacy, I may have started a game that could wreck us in the end.

Loved this book. I loved Quinn and Tara and how the beginning of this story started off rocky and continued that way until Tara lets Quinn in. This was a funny and romantic and sweet but when secrets get involved this story really makes it hard to stop reading.
Was a quick and good read. I liked that there wasn’t instant gratification and the couple had to go through struggles. I got a good laugh at some. I enjoyed reading it.
This was a sweet and sometimes funny story. Tara and Quinn have been together for most of their lives, after having a child at sixteen and getting married two years later. Now that their daughter has left for college, they are looking for a way to find themselves as a couple. The misunderstandings keep piling up between these two, due to a serious lack of communication. When they travel to a couples retreat run by a former rock star, things have to eventually come to a head. Through their sometimes sad, sometimes hysterical adventures, and with the help of retreat owner Grant, Tara and Quinn try out a few fantasies while working on their issues.
I love Quinn and Tara, as well as Grant and Anderson. I also like Owen and Presley, who were featured in the first book in this series, which I haven’t read yet but will in the future. This book is very well written, and I enjoyed it immensely.
This is the first book I read by Mattie Bowman. I will say I really enjoyed it. This book gave me all the feels. I loved reading about Tara and Quinn and them working on their marriage. I could not put this down and I suggest reading it!
I liked this story! I was super excited to go back to the world of Inhibitions. There was so much realness in this story!
“We’d never been just husband and wife. We were Daddy and Mama long before we’d gotten married.”
Real life – empty nesters. It was very relatable as I am sure we have all been there or will be there in just a few short years. I also really enjoyed seeing Grant along with Presley & Owen again!
However, there was a lot of back and forth that could have easily been solved by a conversation. It dragged on a bit at times. I also expected it to be a little hotter than it was.
Overall, I liked the story. I would have enjoyed some more steam, but I really adored Quinn & Tara along with Blaire. I can’t wait for Grant’s story! (3.5 stars)
This one was spicy, yet almost painfully funny. Going to a resort to try and find their marriage again is how Quinn and Tara start. I found it interesting that they were empty-nesters, but not even in their mid-30s. I could relate more to them because of their ages, however. The miscommunication between the two was almost painful to read, but it made me root for the couple even more.
I really enjoyed this book. It is so relatable since it hit so close to home for me. I could definitely relate to Tara and how she was feeling now that it’s just her and Quinn. I’m glad that their angst wasn’t drawn out. I can’t wait to read Grant’s story. I’ve been waiting for it since I read Inhibitions.
I really really loved these characters and could just feel the love and yes, confusion they were both feeling. Anyone who has been in a long time relationship will tell you that you forget who you were when you first got together. I loved this one even more than the first!
Mattie Bowman is a new to me author, but I have to say, this book is one great read….and so true!! Quinn and Tara married young, had their child young, and essentially grew up as a married couple. Now their daughter is off to college and where does their relationship go from here??!!? These two are so well written and so relatable, I found myself in these pages. Well written, well paced, an outstanding read. I can’t wait to read more.
Tara Norris has been with her husband, Quinn, since they had a child together at 16 and got married at 18. But now their daughter, Blaire, has gone to college and Tara must figure out to find herself and Quinn again. When she spots him going into a divorce attorney’s office she has to act quick in order to save their marriage and books them into Inhibitions, a retreat for couples to live out their fantasies.
Yet nothing seems to be going right and will Tara be able to hold onto Quinn when she got him there by deceiving him?
This was a good book on finding the love you once had but somewhere along the way you lost the “couple” and evolved into different people.
Tara was trying so hard to reclaim the love they once ahead and was very afraid of losing Quinn. Yet she was also holding back from him by not telling him the truth about why they were there and how they really got there.
It was obvious how much Quinn did love Tara so I was confused about why she thought he wanted a divorce. I laughed at how every date went so wrong and yet they still never gave up on each other but at the same time they never seemed to talk to each other.
I think the book also looks at the importance of communication and how everything could have been avoided had the couple actually talked to each other but then we wouldn’t have had the same book!
Intimacy is my first story written by this author. I felt it could be read as a standalone and is told in dual points of view. I enjoyed the writing and how relatable and real it felt. There were funny moments and a few “oh no!” moments that had my adrenalin going. Tara and Quinn will have to decide if their marriage is forever or if it ended the day their daughter left for college. Intimacy is a great book and I will be adding more of these stories to my TBR shelf.
I enjoyed reading this book. I didn’t read the first book in this series. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. Quinn and Tara’s story could happen in real life for anyone who is married. It makes one realize that no matter how long a married couple maybe together that being Willingness, Open-Mindedness and Honesty go a long way. This book is definitely worth reading.
