The sign on my cage says I am exhibit #42, a real human female.
I don’t know where I came from.
I don’t remember anything besides waking up in chains.
Thousands of alien creatures stare at me every day. Touch me. Treat me like an animal.
I can’t live like this.
When Death comes for me, I don’t fight him. But he doesn’t kill me.
He breaks my chains.
Destroys my captors.
And I fall in love.…
Destroys my captors.
And I fall in love.
Interstellar Human Petting Zoo is a standalone novel set in USAT Bestseller Loki Renard’s new dark sci-fi universe.

Not only did Loki Renard captivate me with, “Mine”, the first book in the “Possessive Aliens” series, but “Human Petting Zoo” began exactly where the last one left off. With so much drama, action, and adventure I was blown away with the all-encompassing set of reactions this storyline brought out. The depth of emotions these characters had for each other and the situations they were presented with were described with such passion and realistic clarity, it was almost like being right there in the middle of things. As with the first book, this one has also set things up for the next book and I’ll be one of the first in line when it releases. If you haven’t started this series, you definitely want to do so quickly and catch up before “Humans Must Kneel” is released.
This is another wonderful alien-human romance from this author. #42 and Tarkan have communication issues that they need to overcome. There are lots of surprises in the action packed story that makes it a great read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in the IHPZ, and it picks up right where book one ends and should be read in order.
I’m a huge fan of sci-fi romance, and I read a lot of them, and this story is unlike anything I’ve read before. It’s original and exciting. There is a ton of heat, moment of humor, and a sweet love story. There is also a lot of action and the plot is fast-paced and kept me glued to the pages. I can’t wait for the next book
Chock-full of engaging & emotional situations
—>>> Another great standalone sci-fi romance chock-full of engaging and emotional situations, especially those with soul-stifling misery and even worse conditions and treatment of human female, number 42. But one of the final messages is the sheer dedication of one alien male willing to travel to the end of the universe in an attempt to help make her whole again. This was quite the adventure for everyone involved, and a fun, quirky destination was described, but with a serious societal underlayer to mull over. Loved it – looking forward to reading more stories from this series!
Interstellar Human Petting Zoo is the second book in the Possessive Aliens series. We are getting Tarken’s story in this one. Tarken is still butt hurt over One and how everything went down with her. So when he finds his little human, he couldn’t be happier. But is she too broken to have a life outside the zoo?
IHPZ is a good story, and I am happy to find out what happens next.
Usually I read Sci-fi romance with a smirk because the cheese factor is huge. Not this book. Some great observations on humanity both the serious and humorous as well as astute. I don’t know about other Sci-fi romance readers, if there are a whole lot of us, but I appreciate when a writer approaches the genre with respect for the audience while also giving us a little wink letting us know it’s okay to be goofy in sci-fi. Excellent job.
I still cant get over how unique this series is.
Sure it might be a submissive human/dominant alien steamy romance. But it is so much more than that. The world that Loki has designed is beyond anything i could ever have imagined. And then there are Reaper and Tarkan along with their human mates. I love it.
I would highly recommend.
Happy reading!

This is a story that will consume you, I was enthralled by this storyline. It was constantly evolving and growing while still focusing on the harsh situation that 42 was going through, Tarkan was the perfect match for her, but the way he helped her through her PTSD was sweet, touching, and exactly what 42 needed. I loved the ’90s and the few descriptive elements in the story made me smile, Towards the end, I was reminded of the premise of the movie They Live, and I loved that movie, so the homage to its world of hidden messages was something that I appreciated. There are some gloriously gruesome parts and the physical encounters were vividly described. I am looking forward to reading Swven’s story next.
One unique hard headed heroine
This story is unlike any of Loki’s previous tales. I loved it!!!! You will laugh you will cry and you will want to read rest of it. Are 42 and One the only ones left? Where did everyone go? This is a fast moving well written book. I would recommend it to everyone!
I loved this book and I can’t believe I’m obsessed by Tarkan, a Scythkin Warrior! If you read Mine, Tarkan is the broodmate of Reeper. Tarkan finds and rescues a human woman, known as 42, from the Interstellar Petting Zoo. He falls instantly and passionately involve with her. 42, on the other hand comes with a steamer trunk full of issues. Tarkan and 42 are well developed, compelling characters you cant help but connect with. The storyline was so intriguing, had great twists and turns, and was a page turner from start to end. I cant wait for the next book in the Possessive Aliens series. Fantastic read Loki Renard.
I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
Loved the story. It is well written, entertaining and full of danger. Tarken rescues the human female 42 from her captors and then he attempts to get her to understand he means her no harm and along the way he falls in love with her. In an attempt to find where she came from, they find a planet that simulates Earth with the humans functioning under a controlled environment. By this time 42 has evolved into a caring human and she sets out to enlighten the people of the conditions they are actually living in. From here the danger gets worse and things happen that are unpleasant and unexpected. This is a great addition to this series and I would highly recommend it as a great read.
Another Phenomenal Story!
WOW! This was another phenomenal story in this amazing series. It was an intense rollercoaster ride of emotions and steamy moments between the main characters. There is so much push and pull between 42 and Tarkan that you don’t know whether to laugh at them or be utterly frustrated with them. Their interactions were fierce but highly entertaining and very erotic at times. Tarkan is one easy going alien that you can’t help but fall in love with and 42 is his complete opposite, which makes for some very entertaining moments.
Fantastic writing and world building. This amazing author takes us on a journey that is out of this world and keeps us entertained and fully captivated with her phenomenal storytelling and characters. I can’t wait for the next book.
While I enjoy all of Loki’s works, I must say that I especially love her Alpha alien stuff the best. She has such a unique way of world-building and the male MC are always these big tough, Alphas on the exterior, but these gentle complex creatures in the interior. I love it.
This book follows up where Mine ended. Though it isn’t necessarily a series and more a stand-alone, I do recommended reading in order to understand the underlying storyline. This book is about the freeing of Captive#42 from a traveling side show. It take a lot for her to trust after all she had been through and to learn to trust the emotions along the way. She is definitely a different character than One from the first book. It’s a book about healing and what it means to be family, but in the kinky LR way. There is action and love scenes. Good news is that if you are enjoying this world as much as I am, there’s another book after this one

I fell in love with Tarkan, he saved #42 from the zoo and had such patience and tenderness when dealing with her fear and anger and lack of memories. It seems her mind has been wiped numerous times and her fear makes her strike out but Tarkan holds his temper and treats her with care. He thought he finally won her trust when she caused trouble and risks all their lives trying to free other humans. Tarkan and #42 have some seriously hot sex as they learn about each other and Tarkan showed repeatedly that he is worthy of her love and trust. Give me a hot, tender Alien Lover like Tarkan any day! Reaper and #1 one are in this story too, but Reaper wants Tarkan to punish #42 but he refuses. The next in the Possessive Aliens stories will feature #42’s friend.
I can’t wait for it.
This story is mind-blowing good. I can’t get over how much I enjoyed it. Tarkan found his human and boy did he fall fast. I thought it was hysterical how he refused to discipline 42 at first. He was such a stickler in the first story. The judiciar’s were really creepy, actually, the whole concept of the zoo was unsettling. But boy did it make for a fabulous dark story.
This is bk 2 in the seeing I really enjoyed this book and the characters were amazing Tarkan is a great alpha male for our leading lady 42. 42 has been abused and mistreated by her captors. And this is were the story gets interesting. I really enjoyed watching these characters find there way and once they both come together the sparks fly and I just freaking love this book no spoilers here I voluntarily review this book for free for my honest opinion.
A splendid follow up to the wonderfully written Mine, the first book of the series. I was engulfed by the every single word of this book, I literally could not put it down. This series is quickly becoming a MUST have.
In this book we see Tarkan, the younger broodkin/brother, meet and conquer his human female mate, who goes by the number 42. She has been battered, mistreated, and has no recollection of her life prior to the petting zoo where Tarkan undergoes a magnificent solo rescue mission to liberate her. 42 is not buying all his niceness and heroic acts because her life experiences have taught her that when it comes to aliens, they all want something from her. Tarkan demonstrates the utmost patience and care with her, earning him snide comments from his older broodkin/brother, who constantly suggests that Tarkan take on a more disciplinary approach when dealing with 42. Tarkan understands 42 from the onset and he knows that due to her past, violence is not the way to break through to her. Soon enough an undeniable attraction brings them together for some pretty volcanic sizzling scenes. His is a mission of love and 42 does not make it easy on poor Tarkan. But he will go to any limits if it means that his 42 will be happy and at peace. However when 42’s wild and impetuous actions puts them all in danger, Tarkan knows that she will need to learn the meaning of belonging to a brood, a family, and that they must look out for each other.
I absolutely loved the setting of this book, the action-packed plot, and the resounding message of family unity. The world-building is amazingly creative. I loved how Loki masterfully creates a wonderful character in 42 that we love to root for, hate to love, and ultimately admire for her strength. I can’t wait for the next one book of the series.Loki Renard
Loki Renard has done it again, this new series so entertaining it draws you in and holds your attention, causing your imagination to take flight and ride along on one heck of an adventure. He rescued me, 42 thought although I can’t remember anything beyond being chained and abused a sideshow in a Petting Zoo. He saves me, without him taking care of me I would have died, he wants me and surprisingly I want him back, but I can’t help but wonder what will the future holds.
This was epic and so much more I couldn’t get enough I love these characters hard. Tarkan a Scythkin warrior who is fierce and dominate in every way shows us a side to him that is so much more and I love him to pieces after rescuing 42 she is not easy at all she’s like a bomb going off and chaos but these two will capture your undivided attention and send You on a whirlwind ride of your life. I am shocked at the sacrifices, left me with nonono and a whole lot of OMG’S. I am in love with this world and the Scythkin. The writing is amazing and I can’t wait for the next one.
Hunger and pain are the only two feelings left for the tiny human woman hidden in the terrestrial circus tent. 42 just wants to DIE slowly and peacefully. Then she is rescued by Tarkan. She has no concept of healing and care. She expects pain and reacts with fear. She is a feisty little thing!
Luckily for her, Tarkan wants to rescue her and help her heal. He is kind and comforting and willing to accept her crazed fear. When Tarkan notices a series of dots tattooed on her arm, he, 42, Reaper and One head toward what they assume was her home.
Is it still her home? Why not? What will she do to save the other humans? Will it work? What will happen to Tarkan? This is a strongly emotional story that illustrates self-sacrifice and love.
