Being labelled a player never stopped me from being successful with women. Until I met Truly Harbury.Truly was the first girl who ever turned me down. The first female friend I ever had.And she might just be the first woman I ever fall in love with. When an emergency means she needs my help running her family’s charity, I’m happy to introduce her to the glitz and glamour of the London business … glamour of the London business world—taking her to dinners, coaching her through speeches, zipping up the sexy evening gown I helped her pick out.
The more time we spend together, the more I want to convince her I’m not a man to avoid, that we’re not as unsuited as she believes.
She sees herself as the book-reading, science-loving introvert while I’m the dangerous, outgoing, charmer.
She thinks I love parties and people whereas she prefers pajamas and a takeaway.
What she doesn’t realize is that I like everything about her–the way her smile lights up a room, how her curves light up my imagination, and especially the way her lips taste when coated with tequila.
She’s the first woman I ever fell in love with. I just need to know if she could ever love me too.
A standalone novel.

There is so much to like about this book, and it’s become one of my favorite Louise Bay stories.
Noah and Truly are a truly special couple. They have incredible chemistry despite their differences. Her quiet and introverted nerdiness, and his Nordic god looks and impressive bank account should have put them in different worlds, but an unlikely friendship began. And after a time, that friendship became something more… Their relationship is complicated, it’s off the charts hot, and it changes everything.
With wonderful character building, smart dialogue, and heartfelt emotion, Louise Bay gave this book her all. I loved every moment and recommend it with 5 glowing stars!

I am such a huge fan of Louise’s characters and amazing story telling!
Noah and Truly are such a fabulous couple. You can’t help but fall for them while they try and fall for one another. Yes they are friends and Truly has always had a crush on Noah but she feels that he is a player and that she is certainly out of his league. In the interest of not getting hurt she decides to not put herself out there and stay in the friend zone where she will admire him from afar.
Noah has never had a woman turn him or his charm down but Truly is no ordinary gal. She is smart, sweet, driven and yes quirky with such a touch of geekiness that makes her so extremely sexy to him. Meeting due to mutual friends he can’t believe that he ends up in Truly’s friend zone. although his luck has changed and now she could really use his help. The more time they are together the more the friend area is becoming blurred. Truly thinks that if she can keep the feelings out of it then maybe they can have the friends and benefits package…..but soon it becomes apparent that it is more than either one can handle !!! I loved their sexy witty banter and the way that they seem to bring out the best in one another ! Loved them and the crazy cast of supporting characters !!!

One of my top favourites from this author!
“She’d been my first and only woman friend. She always captured my interest in a way I never quite understood.”
Truly Harbury and Noah Jensen have been friends for years but that didn’t stop Truly from crushing on him. He’s been away for a long time and now he’s suddenly back in her life, but she’s determined to put her crush behind her and get on with the business of just being friends with him – pushing herself to start dating other guys. However, he’s making it rather difficult when he steps up to help her and ends up working in close proximity with her. And, what is she supposed to do when he starts showing signs that the attraction she feels is wholly mutual?
“The thing I didn’t understand was the way I couldn’t take my eyes off her and how my hands were hot with a need to touch her.”
Ooh, this was a sizzler of a story! Truly is sweet and awkward but adorable! Noah is pretty suave but I loved how Truly affected him – how possessive he felt over her. I absolutely thrilled at the chemistry between these two – they were so hot together!
“Loving Truly wasn’t a goal or a challenge. She was a way of life. She was and would be at the heart of everything, forever.”
Loved, loved, loved this story and thoroughly recommend!
I absolutely LOVED Truly and Noah’s story! Friends to lovers is one of my favorites! After Noah being gone for a couple years, Truly thought she’d finally gotten over her crush on Noah…but when they come face to face again…woah! I’ll keep this short and sweet…a swoony hero, an amazing gorgeous girl that has no idea of her appeal…this book is perfect!! Highly recommend!
I love a great friends-to-lovers read and this slowburn romance definitely did not disappoint. Noah and Truly’s story had a little of everything…. romance, witty banter, chemistry and undeniable emotions. Noah’s the sexy player that doesn’t di relationships and Truly is the geeky twin that has more of a relationship with work than a man. What happens when the one person you’ve had a secret crush on, your bestfriend you haven’t seen in years, pops back up in your life? Guess you’ll have to grab your copy of International Player to find out and believe me you want to find out!
Audiobook Review: International Player by Louise Bay (Author), Saskia Maarleveld (Narrator), Shane East (Narrator)
I live for discovering new authors, so I jumped at the chance to give Louise Bay a try. International Player delivered more than I was expecting. Great characters, sexy accents and a heartwarming romance. Truly and Noah are both running from something. Truly spends her time stuck in the shadows of her more vibrant twin. Noah spends his days trying to escape painful memories of a childhood he’d rather forget. East and Maarleveld guide readers into a world of heartbreaking tragedy, inspiring strength and unforgettable romance. Bay strikes at the heart.. International Player appeals to the emotions and that ‘s what makes it a winner.
Wonderful friends to lovers book. Louise is always looking at another angle of a romance and delivers with these GREAT NEW BOOKS! It is slow to start since there is a 4 year gap in their friendship with no communication during that time but once they are thrown together, they remember why they were friends. Supporting characters are fun to see what they will say next and call out Noah and Truly on their bs.
Noah usually gets whatever woman he wants. But Truly turns out to be the only woman this player has had turn him down. Since they see each other so often, he realizes that he can talk to her about ANYTHING. She is his one true best friend.
Truly has harbored a crush on Noah since she turned him down but doesn’t think she is worthy. Why would he want to be with a geeky numbers girl? But when he returns form living in NYC after 4 years after no contact while he was gone, she struggles to NOT rekindle her crush on him but still be a loyal friend.
Lovely listen with wonderful voice actors. This book is such a sweet slow burn that when it catches fire it just keeps going. Thoroughly well written and with carefully established characters and plot line, I did find it darker than other books by LB. The angst and self doubt that is portrayed felt so familiar and will probably make anyone who’s ever felt like the less attractive or valued partner of any type of relationship, connect to the story that extra bit. A Truly good read
3.5 stars: Loved reading the evolution of Truly and Noah as they go from friends to lovers. Very steamy and another solid story from LB!
It was mostly about the narration for me. I really enjoy listening to both of these narrators. The actual story left a lot to be desired.
I am so TIRED of characters, ADULTS, being incapable of communicating with one another. I am tired of characters making assumptions, like Truly did, without having a conversation. She could have easily had a conversation about Noah and his behavior. I am tired of women feeling they are not “enough” for the gorgeous man. Don’t get me wrong, I’m just as tired of men feeling like they aren’t good enough for these gorgeous wonderful women.
I did think it was great that Noah could see the awesome person Truly happened to be. I hated that Truly constantly compared herself to her sister. It irritated me through almost the entire book. I didn’t like Truly’s sister at all. I thought she treated her husband like garbage, and treated Truly like she really didn’t have any most parts of her life together. I don’t know if Rob and Truly’s sister have a boom, but she was so obnoxious, I don’t think I want to read it.
I liked Truly and Noah when they were together. I kept wishing they would get out of their heads and talk to each other. I couldn’t wait for this book to end. It was almost a DNF for me.
Friends to lovers story which is sweet and sexy at the same time. I enjoyed the story.
What a sweet story! I enjoyed seeing the growth in each of these characters. Truly really did come into her own with the help of Noah. I loved how he encouraged her to be herself and use her own skills to move forward.
Noah was labeled as a playboy, but I felt he didn’t have the playboy attitude. Women were just part of the scenery for him, he wasn’t a playboy with intent. I was a little disappointed that Truly never asked Noah why he stopped talking to her for four years when he went to New York, except Noah is portrayed as a man who lives in the moment and wherever he happens to be.
Overall, I liked this Louise Bay story.
