Sick and tired of those fad diets and weight loss programs that never seem to pan out? Seeking a lifestyle change rather than yet another dieting gimmick? Then you should look no further than intermittent fasting. Because far from another useless dieting craze, intermittent fasting is based on centuries of research and harnesses the mechanics of your own physiology so you can burn fat like never … burn fat like never before!
Fasting naturally causes our body to switch gears and burn fat deposits rather than the standard sugar and carbs that it normally consumes. And there’s no need to starve yourself: the “intermittent” nature of the fast comes into play on the following day when you end your fast and switch back to your normal eating routine. No reason to quit carbs or count calories. The normal, non-fast day provides a cushion that keeps the body’s metabolism from slowing down.
The problem with so-called starvation diets, is that they will invariably slow down the body’s metabolism as the person’s physiology struggles to cope with the perceived lack of nutrients. And as anyone trying to lose weight knows—this can leave you feeling hungry and exhausted. But intermittent fasting keeps your body’s metabolic engines running on all cylinders.
During an intermittent fasting routine, your body is specifically prepped and primed to burn fat stores one day and then switch back to burning normal food the next, so that your metabolism remains at full steam. If you need to lose weight, boost your metabolism, and get healthy fast—then this guide (written specifically for women) will teach you the basics so you can get started with your own intermittent fast!
In this book you will learn how to:
- Implement tested strategies of intermittent fasting
- Stock up on healthy foods for your fast and non-fast days
- Create unique meal plans for your weekly fasting routine

If you’re looking at intermittent fasting this is a book for you. Great information on getting started, your metabolism and how to do this in a healthy way. It’s well written and all the information has been thoroughly researched. There’s photos, recommendations for food and recipes that are easy to follow.

A very informative book. A well-written, comprehensive account on Intermittent fasting. This isn’t easy to achieve because IF is a popular topic and many books have been written on the subjects along with newsletters, blogs, you name it. The book has been thoroughly researched with nice photos, food recommendations, even many recipe suggestions along with exercise advice and directions. I was intrigued by how IF for women might be different from the effects in the general population but the author had found claims that for women with Polycystic Ovaries, IF may help regulate hormone production and hence aid fertility. This, if proven true, will be important for many women with POC. I recommend this well-ordered, well-described account of the rationale and method to help weight loss and improve health using Intermittent Fasting.

I loved the recipes which are also easy to make. If you are on your way to following intermittent fasting, this is an excellent book to have to fall back on.

Intermittent Fasting for Women: How to Lose Weight, Boost Metabolism and Get Healthy by Silvia Pala
Not a fan of fasting but I may have read some bad information that you can’t drink anything for over 24 hours and to me, we need water.
Starts with table of contents where chapters are broken up into important information about fasting. Recipes are broken up into meals. There is so much more information about this diet so be sure to read it all and talk to your doctor as well.
What I like about this book is that it can also help with inflammatory disease. We eat all the foods on this diet that we should be – it would just be the matter of our other medical problems that would hold me back from trying. As it is if we finish dinner by 7pm we don’t eat again til 12 hours later, unless it’s water or a cup of tea.
Like that there are many options for how you fast and why.
So many parts of your body this diet would effect, in a good way and each are discussed.
Like the idea of a journal (app on your tablet/phone) so you can track what it is you are eating and when.
Start of each chapter contains a medium size color photo.
A few chapters use a lot of medical terms that I did not fully understand or follow along.
Love the section on what to eat and not to eat and the tips and tricks to succeed.
Shopping list and foods to buy was very helpful.
Meal plans are also included for the different methods of fasting.
Each recipe starts with a title and brief description of the dish. Prep, cook and total time to make
Nutritional information contains calories, protein, carbs and fat-NOT broken up into good or bad, per serving.
Not sure why sodium could not be listed as that’s an important one for us.
List of ingredients are given and watch abbreviations for some of the measurements as they are not always the same in other recipes.
I would also substitute for our healthier dietary needs: low sodium, low fat and low sugar products and fresh vs. canned.
Directions are given. There are NO pictures for recipes.
Like also that all meals are for only 2, but sometimes 4.
Recipes do NOT always start at the top of a new page.
Helpful information also about sleep and exercising on this diet are discussed.
Love FAQ section because of the questions and answers to ones I had myself.
Conclusion ends with links to the author’s other works and social media links along with living life in the fast lane.
Glad to find out that you can still drink water and tea while fasting.
I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
