He’s haunted, flawed, and the sole survivor of a homicide that wiped out his immediate family.Allie Baker, the most recent hire at the bar, … bar, can see through Jordan’s façade. She knows he’s everything she doesn’t need, but she’s beginning to crave his cocky attitude and the way he looks at her. The more she tries to stay away from him, the more she wants to get to know him.
Jordan knows falling for an employee is a bad idea, but Allie pushes buttons he never realized he had. Even though Allie desperately needs her job, she soon decides being with Jordan is more important. Will they be able to compromise, or will she let her chance at love pass her by for the sake of a paycheck?
Interlude is the first spin-off novel of the Illusion Series. Interlude can be read as a stand-alone novel, or as part of the Illusion Series.

Ohh the anticipation on Jordan’s story has been high! Just a few years ago, D. Kelly rocked our world and then knocked it off its axis with the Illusion series. We met Jordan then and knew he had one heck of story to tell. Now that it’s here all I can say is wow. It was no question I would love his story. D. Kelly writes these stories that dig and bury themselves inside you. It also fights its way into your heart and gives you the feels like nothing in this world. Interlude takes you on Jordan’s journey as he discovers what it feels like when you truly open your heart to the love you deserve and to fight for that love. Interlude was sinful and beautifully sweet, evocative, and left you wanting nothing but more Jordan and Allie. I received a copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
If you haven’t read the Illusion series yet, I highly recommend reading it first. Especially if you don’t want any spoilers.
With Jordan’s story, we are taken on another emotional journey. This book takes place along the same timeline as the Illusion series. I loved getting Jordan’s full story. He and Allie have great chemistry. They both have a lot of obstacles to overcome and I loved seeing the evolution of not only their relationship, but them as well.
I started reading D. Kelly’s books when her first book came out, as she continues writing her stories grow even better than her first.
This book is about finding yourself as you begin your next step in life and finding love along the way. The emotional and physical chemistry are awe inspiring makes you think about what they been through. I know I feel their pain! Jodan and Allie all the way!!
I just can’t get enough of this series and the characters!
I was so excited to finally get Jordan’s story. If you’ve read the previous books in the series then you know some of his heartbreaking back story. I absolutely love Allie and her tough, feisty attitude. Both of these characters are broken from events in their past.
Even though this is an interconnected standalone and it covers the time-frame of the previous books, I don’t feel like “Oh boy, let me skip this because I’ve read it in the previous books”. D. Kelly does an amazing job with each book of letting THAT character tell his view of the events that occur. Yes, I cried through some of the events again, but these characters and their love continued to bring a smile to my face. Their story is one of heartbreak, healing, sex and love.
I cannot wait to read Darren’s story next and then hopefully we will get Sasha’s and Tyler’s and…. yeah, I just can’t get enough of all the characters!
I devoured this book in one sitting. I just could not put it down. It was so easy to get completely lost in these characters and this story line. Interlude focuses on Jordan’s story, and his relationships with both Tyler and Allie, but it also shows snippets of the characters we have read about in the other books. There was laughter and friendship and sadness and angst and love all rolled into one engaging package.
This series has been one of my all time favorites since I read the first book, and with each book that follows and with more character’s stories being told, it is reinforced that this will remain of my favorite series. D. Kelly has an amazing gift of story telling that just sucks you in. I found this book to be highly engaging and would definitely recommend it.
I love Jordan! I love seeing the other stories from his viewpoint. Watching him figure out who truly has his heart and the real heart-to-heart talks with the people he cares for most are amazing. This really is more of a slow-burn romance, but everything is resolved in the end for this great group of characters
Jordan is the owner of a bar named Illusions. He’s good looking and quite a ladie’s man. He has a painful past with the loss of his immediate family. Allie is the new hire at the bar. She can see through Jordan’s facade. These two sizzle when they come into contact with each other. Will Allie decide to sacrifice her job to be with Jordan? Will Jordan finally settle down with one woman?
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
Loved it! My love for rockstar books started with this series. And Dee Kelly makes me coming back for more. When a new book comes out for the series I start from the beginning because it is great. You don’t have to start in the beginning to know what is going on but I do because I love the series!! Whatca going do next Dee Kelly? Looking forward to finding out!!!
Jordan is doing the best that he can being the owner of his own bar. He doesn’t want help from his “family” to keep it. Jordan’s childhood trauma breaks my heart and changes him. He loves his boyfriend or maybe he just loves the idea of him.
When Allie comes to work for him he’s instantly attracted. Jordan is bi-sexual and has no problems with it. If no one likes, that’s on them not him. Jordan and Allie have a lot to get through before they can even see if they have what it takes to become a couple and to make it work. They both have to grow into the person that they need to be and help each other along the way if that’s what they want.
I will say Jordan did make angry with having his on again/off again boyfriend waiting on the sidelines. I thought that was the wrong thing to do. Make a decision and stand by it. Not fair to other person at all. Even with saying that I’d definitely read the next book in this series.
One of my favorite trilogies ever has been the Just an Illusion books. Those books have gutted me in the best way. Interlude gives us a look at Jordan who is Sawyer and Noah’s cousin and has been through a tragic past. Allie comes into his life and he doesn’t know what hits him. She turns his life inside out and makes him really have to make some life decisions. I loved these two together. The story was hot and yet so real as they both struggle through relationship issues and finding their path together. I love the characters in this world and I was so back to go back to it, even if it was only for a little while. Great read!
This one was a plus to the series as it gives you another side and aspect to make for a well rounded story line. It also does its share of twisting the handles on your emotions but you also get peaks of heat that go with it. Jordan the one that has had his place in the others now has his spotlight with us getting to see his soul barred. Allie is the one we see get in and nestle in just right with the rest of them. She also has the magic touch and the relationship grows with us reaping the benefits. Devoured from start to finish.
Interlude is a great addition to the Illusion Series. I was glued to my kindle from the moment I started this book till the end, I couldn’t put it down! The story is well written and so full of emotions, that you can’t but fall in love with the characters in this book. Jordan made me cry, my heart broke for him. This man knew the moment his eyes met Allie’s that she was a game changer for him. The chemistry these two have is combustible at times. The family/friends dynamics only add more to it with their funny banter, but they can be serious when they need to be too. I loved seeing them. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
As usual this book exceeded all my expectations!! I love everything I’ve ever read by this author and this book really got me.
I have been anticipating Jordan’s story for months and I loved it!! Jordan is a complicated man that hides his emotions but if he loves you you’ll feel it with your entire being. I loved that we got the Illusion men and women in this story too. I can’t seem to get enough of this series of the spin offs.
I wasn’t sure how D. Kelly was going to be able to give me Jordan without ripping my heart out and tearing it to bits- again, but she did it. That’s not to say that Interlude wasn’t heavy at times because it was. And (mini spoiler alert if you haven’t read the Illusion Series) having to lose Noah again gutted me, but there was a lightness here that I wasn’t expecting.
A lot if it came from Allie’s smarts and sass and strength. I loved how open and honest she was about her past and her plans for her future. Especially when it came to Jordan. The attraction was obvious from the first time they laid eyes on each other. Gah- Jordan! How could I not love him. All his broken pieces from his painful past. All this kindness. His generosity. His tender yet guarded heart. He had always struggled to let someone in. But one look, one conversation and he knew Allie was his game changer.
Cue the slow burn. There was a lot of back and forth. With every glance the anticipation built and built and built. And when Jordan and Allie finally gave into what both of their hearts was screaming out for, everything clicked into place.
Allie and Jordan’s journey was full of emotion- but not so much that you’re drowning in sorrow- and heat and heart. D. Kelly gave me everything I wanted and few things I wasn’t expecting with Interlude. And that ending…I’m holding onto hope to see more of this family soon!
I’m not sure what I write will do Jordan’s story justice.
What a heartwrenching but also beautiful book this is.
So much love……
So much turmoil……
Family that really matters and Jordan has such a huge heart.
I absolutely loved Jordan, his family, his friends and just the way he was with them all.
He loves wholeheartedly, intensely and his emotions are sometimes a bit up there…but that man has such a wonderful caring soul.
I especially love how Allie came into his life. Having left her home to escape….she couldn’t have landed in a better place.
I’m not sure if I can describe in words how wonderful this book was. You can tell the author wrote it with her heart and soul and the whole storyline blew me away.
This was such an amazing addition to a brilliant series. I literally am so excited for more.
I feel like I have been waiting for Jordan Weston’s story for such a long time! And we finally get it in Interlude by D. Kelly. We first met Jordan in the Illusion series, as he is Noah and Sawyer’s troubled cousin. This can be read as a standalone, however, the Illusion series is amazing and is a must-read! I loved every minute of it!
Jordan history weighs on him. He was the only survivor when his entire family was murdered when he was young. This has left a mark on his life and how he lives it, but how could it not. He has his bar and his family and that is enough for now. Allie Baker is new to the bar and loves her job, but there is something about Jordan, even as he tries to keep at arm’s length. So begins their push and pull with some sexy chemistry.
I may be a bit bias, but I am a huge fan of D. Kelly and her Illusion series. I love the characters and their stories so much. I cannot recommend them high enough and Jordan’s story continues that love. I wanted his HEA from the very first time I met him. Interlude delivers that and so much more. It was not always an easy journey, but it was one I devoured from start to finish! And now I sit here and so not patiently wait for Darren’s story. I know that one will be a kicker! So, if you are new to the series or an old friend, Interlude was an amazing addition to the series!

Interlude does not disappoint!! It was an absolutely wonderful read with characters you will love and moments that will make you smile one minute and have you crying the next. I cried right along with characters in this story. There were parts that had me very emotional in both the best and most devastating ways. I believe that being able to pull so many emotions from reading words just goes to show the talent that this author possess. I loved Jordan and Allie together and enjoyed their back and forth banter even more. They were perfect for each other. Their chemistry was undeniable and their journey was one that had them questioning themselves and their choices. This story is one of family and friendships, loss, survival, strength, fate, happiness, laughs and love. Readers are left with a HEA that is deserving for these characters and leaves you wanting to read more books from this author. I’m honestly looking forward to reading Darren’s story. I will definitely be recommending this book to family and friends looking for a read that is not only heartwarming but heartfelt.

5*** Loving Jordan
Jordan had grown up feeling that the famous rock band BAD band members Sawyer and Noah were his brothers and not just cousins since his own family was maliciously taken from him at age seven by his own biological father. The Weston’s were every bit of his family as any biological family could be. They knew the scars that Jordan harbored from that fateful night. Since Sawyer was the first to walk into that scene afterwards it was a night that affected Sawyer and Jordan beyond belief.
Jordan owns a famous bar and has done a great job with it plus it doesn’t hurt that this is where BAD started out and still plays at occasionally. He still struggles immensely with his past and it definitely has made him into the man he is today. He has come out as bi and Tyler is his friend and off again on again bed partner that he has had for years. It’s when Allie comes into the picture that things shift in Jordan’s life. She is a woman on the run from a fiancé that cheated and a father that thinks he can control everything about her.
There is so much that Jordan teaches Allie about herself and feelings blossom. Allie’s friend as well as Jordan’s friend Sasha is a bright spot in this story. The things that come out of her mouth are sometimes hilarious. Another highlight for me is bringing in the characters from the previous books. I’m so glad that we finally got Jordan’s story and I’m always excited for the next book in Just an Illusion series to come out. Every book has been awesome because you are always taken on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
In order to enjoy this book at its best, please read the An Illusion series first. It will save you from huge spoilers, in case you haven’t read the other books in the series, of course!
This is Jordan’s story. A story of heartbreak, emotion and pain.
From the other books in the series, you knew that whatever happened to Jordan in his childhood was huge, but only now you are given the whole truth. It’s heartbreaking! However, Jordan is a very caring and extraordinaire man. He has a lot of demons surrounding him, making him the way he is today in his relationships, but after another tragedy, Jordan realizes that he’s more than capable of love and be loved.
I read this book in one siting, couldn’t wait to know what would happen next and that’s why I love D. Kelly stories!
Now I can’t wait to read Darren’s story!
