Omg this book! The delicious back and forth between yearning for the past and being blown away in the present is everything. Thank you, Lisa Suzanne, for killing me in the best way.
Delaney is such an amazing “every woman” character. She is torn between Chase, her high school boyfriend, now an NFL player, who dumped her moments before her world fell apart and Gavin, her high school best friend, now a hot rock star, who she cut out of her life when she needed him the most.
Flash forward ten years and suddenly, both men are back in her life and ardently pursuing her romantically.
It’s not just about who does she want to choose. It’s about who does she want to be in the present and in the future, “Dee” or “Laney”?
I cannot wait for the next book…and yes, I have a favorite!
Delaney is attending her 10 year high school reunion with a lot of reluctance, but also with a need for closure. She attended a privileged school where everyone went on to find success so her classmates are all big names in whatever industry they pursued. Delaney hasn’t quite reached those heights because she had to start over from scratch, so she feels a bit awkward and out of place with everyone. Her former flame, Chase, now plays for the Denver Broncos and her best friend, Gavin, is a rock star topping the charts with his band Beyond Gold. Although it’s been a decade, they both want Delaney back in their lives and she’s torn between the two of them.
This is kind of like a fairy tale or Cinderella story, because Delaney currently has a pretty humble existence and had to modify her aspirations because of her circumstances. These 2 guys with fame and fortune re-enter her life and are willing to offer her the world. It’s rather heady and overwhelming feeling for her and she wants to explore both options, not that I can blame the girl for wanting to see who her heart belongs to. Before I got to the final chapter, I was definitely partial to one guy over the other. I didn’t expect that at the end, but now I want to know what happens next with Delaney and how she’ll trust herself to choose with her heart because these guys now in the present are not the exact same as they were in the past.
Interception (Love Triangle Duet #1) by Lisa Suzanne is a contemporary, friends to lovers, rockstar romance and a second chance, sports romance told in first person POV. The story is told entirely from the heroine’s perspective, except for a single chapter from each potential hero. As is common with the first part of a duet, it ends with a cliffhanger.
Delaney’s ten-year high school reunion is coming up and she’s not looking forward to it. If her best friend, Rose, hadn’t talked her into going, she would skip it. She doesn’t want to see her former classmates. They’re all rich, successful, and although she used to share the same privileged upbringing, Delaney doesn’t belong in that world anymore. A family scandal was exposed right after graduation that changed everything. And if that wasn’t bad enough, it happened right after her boyfriend, Chase, dumped her and broke her heart so badly that she never got over it. After the scandal broke, Delaney severed ties with everyone except for Rose – even her high school best friend and neighbor, Gavin. She hasn’t been in contact with any of them in ten years.
Delaney unexpectedly has a good time at the reunion. She reconnects with Gavin who is now a hot rockstar, and sparks fly. Their chemistry is undeniable, and she sees him in a whole new light. Delaney is surprised and excited by these new feelings. She’s also very confused because Chase was at the reunion too. Over the years, Delaney followed his pro-football career from afar. She never understood why he broke things off and why he never tried to reconnect. She quickly finds herself torn between these two men as they both pursue her.
Who will Delaney choose? The sexy rockstar? Or the pro-football player? Her former best friend? Or the one that got away? Will she make the right choice?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I had my favorite hero right from the start (team Gavin) and can’t wait to see how it all turns out. As expected, it ended with a huge cliffhanger that has me dying to get my hands on book two to see how all the drama unfolds. Full of sexy, entertaining, angsty fun! I can’t wait to read what comes next.
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
Interception is book one in the Love Triangle Duet and my thoughts were this. What the fumble! Oh, heck no! That ending may require you squeeze your device real tight, but why did I get the feeling that I did with how that ended. My suspicion may just be right, but we shall see. This is the best way to state this, without spoilers. The question is does Dee or Delaney come out in the next book? You will see what I mean as you read the story and who you will associate her with for each man.
Delaney, Gavin and Chase will have you rockin one moment like the band Beyond Gold and then the next have you fumbling the football. Oh, your heart can love two people alright, but how do you know that the choice made was the right one? Well see that is the thing about duets, we must wait to find out. Is it time for Intermission yet? Your anticipation of this book is going to have you squirming counting down the days to release.
You will feel the emotions of the characters and the few chapters that gave us the male POV is like scoring a hit record. I really hope the man I think is best for Delaney is chosen. Team Gavin or Team Chase is the question? I know which team I selected so let’s see if I can win this one. Lisa all I can say is you yet again touched our heart with this story and just when we think we may know your MO, BAM you shock us and turn our insides out. There is not a story that you don’t love by this author. Now if only we can end the Intermission and get our hands on the next play that would be awesome. Haha
Delaney has a choice to make and we will not find out what that it in this book. It is their high school ten year reunion that bring these three characters back into each other’s lives. Chase is high school football star that Delaney dated back then and he broke things off and left for college and to hopefully make it pro. Gavin was her best friend that she gave up for his own good when her dad dragged their family through the mud and they lost everything. Delaney has done well for herself in that she is now an elementary school teacher, she lives paycheck to paycheck but all things considered she is good. Both men want Delaney back in their lives as more than friends, what is she to do? Both men are incredible in their own way and each of their makes her feel so much, how can she decide? Read this awesome story to get the basics and the history, stay tuned for book two to get the HEA ending…….maybe? Enjoy!
I have to say that I’m not a big fan of love triangles. In fact, I usually avoid books like these, but since Lisa Suzanne is one my favorite authors, of course I was going to read it. Everything she writes is pure gold to me, and this one most certainly did not disappoint. Interception is the beginning to the Love Triangle Duet, and Lisa Suzanne, the evil genius that she is, left readers off with one hell of a cliffhanger.
Delaney has a tough decision to make after attending her ten year high school reunion. Her high school sweetheart, who is now a pro football player, wants to make amends and give their relationship another go. The only problem? Her high school best friend, who is now a famous rock star, proclaims that he has always loved her and wants his chance with her. What is a girl to do? Well, she goes back and forth between the two, but it’s clear to us readers that only one of them is true to his words. And in the end, we are no closer to finding out who she will ultimately choose. GAH!
Interception is only the beginning of this love story, and it left me reeling with my heart beating wildly and my mind racing with possibilities. To say that I’m anxious for the sequel in this duet is the understatement of the year. This wonderfully written story was sexy, entertaining and completely captivating. I can’t wait to read the conclusion to see who she will choose and how everything plays out! Well done Lisa! 5 stars from me!
I really enjoy a good love triangle book and Lisa didn’t disappoint. I can’t wait for book 2.
Dee’s Life Fell Apart At Eighteen. Ten Years Later, Her Past Is Back And She Must Choose Between Her Rock Star Former Best Friend Or Her High School Sweetheart In This Angsty Read!
Ten years after life as she knew it ended, Delaney Lockwood, twenty-eight, still cannot move on. She had given up her dreams and settled for stability, abandoning a shot at a career in medicine to become an elementary school teacher. Dee’s attempts at dating fail because every time she looks at a man, she compares him to her high school sweetheart, Chase Camden, now wide receiver for the Denver Broncos. He had broken up with her out of the blue immediately before he left for college. Her best friend and neighbor, Gavin Brooks, comforted her that night as she cried. But two days later her father was brought down in a notorious scandal. Her family lost everything, and it was impossible to effectively process all the changes and what they meant. Delaney’s shame was so severe that she pushed Gavin and everyone else from her past away, save her other and oldest best friend, Rose Kincaid. Rose is her anchor. Always supportive and never judgmental.
When an invitation to Prestbury Academy of Beverly Hills’ ten year reunion arrives, Delaney doesn’t want to attend, doesn’t want to face the questions. She is no longer part of the elite, unlike most of her former classmates. But Rose insists she attend. Beyond Gold is playing a short set; Liam Ward and Gavin Brooks of the band were their classmates, and Rose always had a crush on Liam.
Delaney sees both Chase and Gavin at the reunion, and her life suddenly becomes complicated when both men express their interest in her.
This is the first book in a duo. Warning: wait to binge read the entire series if you don’t like cliffhangers! This has an angst-filled love triangle storyline that is written almost entirely from Delaney’s POV. Toward the end, there is one chapter each written in Gavin and Chase’s POVs.
While it is easy to get behind Delaney, who was a victim of her father’s mistakes at a pivotal time in her life, there are a few issues that may bother some readers. It takes a while until who is the better match for Dee becomes fairly clear, but once the better choice is known, it is difficult to listen to her indecisiveness. She keeps hinting that she knows who is right, then her determination lapses the next minute. Similarly, Gavin claims he will give her time and later gets advice from Rose that he should be more proactive, then procedes to walk away, ignore her, and give up. The contradictions and indecisiveness are necessary to an extent, but it eventually makes Delaney look a little dense. It would have been more comfortable if it were tightened and didn’t drag out as long. Additionally, Gavin, who has all the patience in world and gets what he wants, behaved out of character. Perhaps that will be clarified in the sequel, to be fair.
That said, I cannot wait to read the conclusion to this duo! It is nicely written, with interesting characters whose feelings (though not necessarily their elite status) feel realistic. The chemistry between Delaney and Gavin is off the charts ! I rate this story 4 stars.
I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Delaney lost everything ten years ago; her home, her privileged life, her boyfriend and her best friend. At her High School reunion, she reconnects with the boyfriend she never stopped loving and her best friend, a man that never stopped loving her. Who will win her heart? Chase, the pro football player who left her at her lowest time or Gavin, a rockstar who she pushed away but never gave up on her? I was back and forth with Delaney until that final cliffhanger chapter that sent ice down my spine. Guess I’ll have to wait until Intermissions, book two, comes out!
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
Lisa Suzanne has written an amazing story with a great cliff hanger that leaves you itching for Intermission. The story captivates you from the beginning and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I couldn’t put this book down! So excited for the next one!
Okay, to be real and honest, I hate reading Love Triangles. So why am I giving this book a 5 star review? Because only Lisa Suzanne can get me so wrapped in her stories that I will set my preferences aside. She adds so much emotion and heart that you feel just as conflicted as her characters do. It’s frustrating and yet thrilling. My heart beats so fast and the adrenaline of who the heroine will pick has me on pins and needles. I have been sucked into the Love Triangle world before with Lisa Suzanne’s previous books.
I will not be giving away any spoilers. I have my guy in mind who Delaney should choose. I just don’t trust the other one. No matter the history. And the end proved my intuition right! See what I mean? My intuition is playing a huge part with this story and that is what I thrive on! I seriously cannot wait for book two. My guy has to be the ONE! Otherwise, I will be there to pick up the pieces and keep him as mine <3
In this story, Delaney Lockwood goes to her ten-year reunion. She is reunited with her ex-boyfriend NFL quarterback, Chase Camden and her former best friend/Rockstar, Gavin Brooks. Both men are interested in her. She needs to sort out her feelings for the man she loved that broke her heart and the man she never noticed. This love triangle romance is suitable for adult audiences.
Lisa Suzanne has done a fantastic job with this story. I appreciate how she gets you into her characters’ heads and understanding their feelings. Delaney is a likable heroine. She was struggling with going to her reunion because of her family’s scandal. She is still in love with her ex-boyfriend Chase. She is hoping for either a second chance or closure. Meanwhile, she runs into Gavin, whom she never realized was in love with her since they were fourteen. Neither men make her decision easy.
INTERCEPTION is skillfully written. It is full of conflict, drama, and romance. The ending left me eager to read book two, INTERMISSION. This is the first book that I have read by Lisa Suzanne. I enjoy her writing style. I recommend this book to people who enjoy Rockstar, sports, second chance, and/or love triangle romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Poor Delaney, she’s stuck between two men who profess to love her. Gavin was her high school best friend and Chase, the boyfriend who broke up with her in senior year.
Chase is star of the NFL but Gavin is a rock star. Both want her. So how does she choose? Well, that’s the rub of the whole story, and while I have my choice, not everyone will agree with me. I’m not a huge fan of love triangles, but this is a trope that Lisa does so well. She drags you under and you just have to try and keep your head above the proverbial water. The story will drive you nuts if you let it, lol. It’s frustrating at times, especially when you know who you want her to pick. But, beware, if you haven’t read Lisa Suzanne before, there is one other thing she does extremely well and that’s cliffhangers. Hold onto your hats ‘cause this one will blow you away!
“I wanted to kiss you every second of every day ten years ago. But I had to pretend I didn’t. For you.”
Oh, I was so looking forward to this duet! This first book captured my heart in a beat…. and now I’m anxious to get my hand on the second part.
Interception has the perfect amount of angst level, that’s healthy for my little heart. The love triangle seems natural and I totally felt the chord that binds Delaney to Gavin and Chase. Even though I had my favorite between them quite early, it’s totally understandable to me that after 10 years she has to explore her feelings for both men deeper. I also like that she’s open with both and doesn’t hide things.
“But this rock star who used to be my best friend took me to his hotel room and challenged everything I believed for nearly half my life.”
Interception starts the story of a love triangle that gently pushes and pulls on all your heart strings.
INTERCEPTION by Lisa Suzanne is the first book in her new Love Triangle Duet. I have loved every one of her books and INTERCEPTION absolutely blew me away! It really grabbed my attention and I didn’t want to stop reading from the beginning to the incredible end. Now, though, is the wait for the September 12th second book, INTERMISSION.
This story is about a truly difficult and intense love triangle. At a ten year high school reunion, the lovely Delaney sees both her former sweetheart, Chase Camden, who broke up with her and broke her heart ten years ago to become an NFL star but who now wants her back, and Delaney’s best friend in high school, Gavin, who has been in love with her all these years and who has since become a popular rock star. Delaney’s heart is torn between both men, but she can only choose one. Who will she choose?
This is a truly excellent read and I would absolutely recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
Rate: 4 / 5 stars
Lisa is one of the very few authors that has me reading love triangles. I don’t particularly like them but I’ll read hers because I know they are good, they aren’t that hard to read and I am always happy with how they end.
Delaney has to make a choice between her high school sweetheart, now a professional football player and her bestfriend from high school, now a sexy rockstar. She is very undecisive and she goes back between the two a lot and trust me that is frustrating. But she just wants to make the right decision, she loves them both. One she has loved for over a decade, even from a distance and now that he’s back in her life and wants to try again, she has to see if they are as perfect as before. The other has just stolen her attention, sweet as ever and so so sexy she just can’t resist him. And there’s also the fact that he just confessed that he loved her all along too.
Right from the beginning, it’s pretty easy to pick who’s team you are on. It was #TeamGavin for me even before I really started the book. Let’s just say I like a rock star much more than I like an athlete and Gavin proved to me with each chapter that I was on the right team. Chase never really felt right to me, the way he and Delaney ended things back in high school and how he never got in touch with her for 10 years knowing what happened to her after he left. It just felt wrong to me and then at the reunion… sorry Chase, Gavin is just so much better and more considerate.
As always the book ends in an epic cliffhanger that will have you so pissed and wishing you could grab certain characters and shake them, scream at them and open their eyes to what’s right in from of them. I gotta admit I’m scared for Delaney. I have no idea who she’s gonna pick because every day she goes back and forth between the two and there is a chance she might pick the wrong guy, the one who isn’t it for the right reasons.
I’m on pins and needles waiting for book 2, to find out what Delaney will do, who she’ll choose and how things will play out. Once again Lisa has completely captivated me and I’m so invested in this story and Delaney’s choice. My heart is set on Gavin and I truly hope he finally gets the girl.
Ughhhh, this love triangle. Delaney has loved her high school boyfriend Chase over the past decade, even though he broke up with her at the end of senior year. When she attends their 10 year high school reunion hoping to recommend, she also reconnects with her high school best friend, Gavin. She is shocked to learn Gavin has always loved her, and most of the songs his famous band plays are written about her. But then, her NFL ex Chase tells her he wants her back again. Delaney isn’t sure who to choose (obviously Gavin is the right choice, because hello) and tries to get to know both of them all over again. This book ends on a mini cliff hanger, and I need to find out what happens next!
Oh my goodness, what an amazing twisted tale of past and present. I know who I’d choose but you will need to read Interception and choose your favorite. Lisa Suzanne is an amazing author who knows how to pull you into the pages so you feel as if you are right there and hold you tight until the last page. Once you start you won’t want to stop so get comfortable you are in for a page turning, breath holding, love triangle.
Two men wanting her after ten years, why now?
Delaney, Chase and Gavin meet up at their ten year high school reunion and things are not the same for her. Chase was her high school sweetheart until he left for college and then to become a famous NFL Star. Gavin was her best friend and neighbor and is now a famous rock star. She had things happen after high school and she pulled away from Gavin and Chase was at college. Now they are both wanting her back. Gavin is telling after ten years that he loves her, and Chase has left her thinking no one is as perfect than him. Why are they both wanting her now after ten years and who will she pick? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Lisa Suzanne does not disappoint with Interception, the first of a Love Triangle Duet. Delaney is challenged in deciding who she wants to be with, Chase, her high school sweetheart who broke her heart or a new love interest, Gavin. Whom shall she choose, a pro football star or a rock star. One of them is not being totally truthful and one is pulling out all the stops. The book is well written and so enjoyable to think about what she will do. I highly recommend this book. And, I can not wait till book two comes out!
