A.D. Justice did it again.
Layne is definitely not having a good day. It’s safe to say she’s having an especially bad day. Ok, well then, to be honest it’s a horrific day. Visual proof that the man you’ve been with for the last 7 is sleeping with your best friend…is rough. Visual proof when you had absolutely no idea…disturbing. All this lovely confirmation when you were coming over to confirm you are ovulating…bad timing. Worse are the words out of her now ex-best friends mouth… What I can’t tell you everything!
So fast forward a bit and visit Layne in a quiet little town in Georgia. Taking a much needed vacation, Layne is learning to love life one life changing moment at a time. Things happen for a reason.
Layne’s introduction to this small town might be unusual but it seems perfect. Well it was until the jerk yelled at her. Did I say jerk?!? I meant Ace, until Ace yelled at her.
Ace is upset about the stranger, he’s upset about the horse, and worse he’s irritated by the fence. All this means nothing to you, but the perfect storm brews…He lashes out at the stranger.
Both aren’t in a great place but it seems that they will still have to deal with each other. Can two broken people fix each other? Should th st even bother?
It’s a beautiful story about finding true love regardless of your intent. It’s about opening yourself up to possibilities.
A.D. slayed me with the ending, but not in a bad way. I laughed out loud many times in this book and the ending is no exception. You will love it too.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I also purchased a copy.
This was a delightful tale. I adored all of the characters Layne Elliott, Ace Sharp and River (Ace’s young daughter) plus several more. The story is well written, witty, funny and at times heart-wrenching. I also adored the Epilogue! It was such a beautiful way to end the story for this couple!
Layne is an attorney and lives in New York City. She comes across her boyfriend of 7 years getting it on with her BFF of 15 years. Layne is going through a really hard time and her boss, Marcia, sends her away for the summer to get her emotional state in order. Marcia has a beautiful vacation home that she is letting Layne use in her recovery. It just happens to be next door to an incredibly handsome Ace and his adorable little daughter, River.
These two are attracted to each other right from the beginning. They have several hurdles to get through on the way to a HEA though. Mainly two ex’s both her’s and his’!
I loved the dual POV format that this book is written in. Getting that insight into the characters’ thoughts really helped me to identify and connect with them. I haven’t seen it but it would be nice to have a book written with Lily (Ace’s sister) and Justin (Ace’s business partner). HINT! HINT!
This is a sexy read that I would recommend to someone over the age of 18.
I stumbled upon this book on Facebook, a new author to me, but I like to read what other people recommend. I’m really glad I took the chance.
Layne is an attorney, in a seven year relationship with her boyfriend from college, they’re trying for a child for two years now, when she finds him cheating on her with her best friend. Heartbroken, she’s offered a few months getaway, in a country vacation house, from her boss. Ok so I must admit I found this strange, I’m not really knowledgeable about American law and employment, but she seems to young to have such benefits and money to blow for a few months.
There she meets Ace, her neighbor, who’s also a single parent . She’s instantly bonding with his adorable daughter, and a friendship is growing between them. The story is well written, there’re plot twists, unexpected revelation, only for me at least, they’re a little predictable. I really liked the story, it was sweet and lovely, but it’s missing that spark that makes it really unforgettable. I felt like it was more focused on the outcome of the story then the actual story and growth of their relationship. It makes sense in my mind.
All in all it’s an enjoyable read and I’m willing to read more from the author.
Layne lucked out with her boss and due to this she has the chance to meet Ace and his daughter River and slowly gets to see that her life may have gone of course but that doesn’t mean it’s the wrong way to happiness. I really liked Ace and Layne, they weren’t your usual couple that don’t care to listen to the other, they try to resolve things instead of going crazy and thinking the worst. There are plenty of feels in this book for both Ace and Laney for what they went through and do go through but allowing them to see that happiness can be achieved and it comes when you least expected it, but you need to work hard at it especially when unexpected twists and surprises occur.

Ace and Layne are so good together and their relationship is so strong not even the ex’s can cause them to lose trust in each other. Loved his sweet little daughter River and they all made the perfect little family.
A.D. Justice has once again written an amazaballs book!!!
Layne has wanted a baby for so long and finally talked her boyfriend into trying. Two years later and still no baby. He isn’t interested in getting married but, he’ll have a child with her? If that was me he’d been out on his butt a long time ago! Things do not work out the way she’d hoped and her boss gets her to take the summer off and go live in her “cabin” in Oak Grove. Reluctantly Layne goes and oh boy, what a summer she has!!
Ace Sharp is super hot, super sexy, a real smart ass, who works with horses and is a dad? BAM…there went my ovaries!!! He lives in a cabin in Oak Grove and near where Layne is spending the summer. All the women in town swoon over him and Layne is not impressed!!
We get to follow their journey together. He has things in his past and of course, so does Layne! Can a sweet little girl named River and a horse name Frankie help Ace and Layne get over their past and have a future together?
I fell in love with all the characters in this book! And that Ms. Perkins was such a hoot!! This is a must read book and a book that is worthy of more than 5 stars!!
I really enjoyed this book. Ace and Layne were both interesting characters and they had amazing chemistry. The story was well-written with a well-developed storyline that had plenty of action, suspense, emotions, wit, romance and steam. Highly recommended!
Layne Elliot’s heart has been broken and her boss insists she take time off from work to mend her broken heart. Ace Sharp doesn’t trust in love but a chance meeting with Layne shakes his world upside down. This book took me longer than I expected to read. The intent for a five star read is there but too much is missing or rather has a choppy, not smooth flow to it. I wanted a romantic suspense story and the author tried to provide that. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any with how the story was written. Events occurred that just let this reader know what was going to happen. So even though I really enjoyed Layne and Ace’s story, they didn’t hold me captive. I felt as conversations were left unfinished and yes at times the author did come back to those left unfinished conversations later in the book, it just didn’t have that easy flow. There were times I really thought part of the book was missing, that I somehow missed a chapter but that was not the case. There were a couple surprises, so that was a major plus. I really would have liked more suspense in the story and there is major potential for it with some changes. I am still looking forward to reading more from this author because I do enjoy her stories.
One thing about this author is none of her novels are predictable with whatever she puts down on a page. When I started this one it was with anticipation and wonderment like going on a trip. Front and center is Layne whom she takes you by the hand with what is going down with the surprise that meets her eyes. Thank goodness she has a boss that understands that this girl needs to go somewhere other than there for awhile. She is then on her way to her boss’s vacation home in Georgia with some well needed time. Gotta be careful though of those small towns they can be contagious with hidden surprises. She soon though finds herself rescuing a little one from getting mowed down by a vehicle that will also be the beginning of a relationship with this child. Lucky her also she gets to meet her neighbor whom almost bites her head off but Ace soon realizes that she was right and he was wrong. He also will put his foot in it and will be taken down a notch especially when he finds out what she has done for his little girl. Oh that then is just the beginning of some things that will go on between these two, with seeing their relationship grow but the writer is sneaky that she has you tangled up with them. They will have their obstacles and those who think they know better for them. Surprises will come in here and there also. There is also a bit of danger in this one also. She will also be able to squeeze some of that fluid out of your eyelid a time or two. I read this in no time at all that when I came to the end that coma is what you will be left with.
A.D Justice has given us another wonderful story of finding the right love. Many pieces needed to fall into place for the love to come true. They do you will see when you read this story. Starting out with Layne who is betrayed by the people she trusted the most. Breaking her heart in more ways the one. She is given a chance from her boss to take a few months off to find herself again. Layne is given a summer home in the mountains. She meets Ace Sharp every woman’s dream man in this town… They meet under unusually situation a horse of course. Then Aces child River lends a hand too!!! Everyone knows everyone’s business in this small town. The sparks are there for both of them a slow simmering fire. Will they take the chance opening their hearts again. Making dreams come true. Ace, Layne and Rivers love story. Many people are intertwined in this story and a few crazy ex’s who wont get the point until it is right in their face and handcuffs to. I couldn’t put down this story until all the pieces fit together to a beautiful HEA for all.
Intent was an good read. I enjoyed the main and side characters in this story. There was chemistry and some steamy scenes between Layne and Ace but I wish there was more. As much chemistry as the two had, I wanted and needed to feel that deep love and connection and I didn’t. I definitely loved the moments between Ace and his daughter River and their antics made me smile. I was completely over Bobby, his lies, deceit and was ready for him to be out of the picture. He acted as if his what he revealed to Layne would change things between them and I was so glad she didn’t try to get back with him. There was some unexpected visitors, a crazy ex, and delightful surprises in this story but there were also times where the story felt a bit slow. The story wrapped up nicely for Zoe and all of the main characters and the ending was sweet. Overall, it was an good read and I would give other books from this author a try.
Wow! What a phenomenal book! I’m kicking myself for not reading this earlier. But I am so glad that I did read it because Ms. Justice gave us some amazing characters.
Ace Sharp is a single dad to one amazing little girl. He runs a business with his best friend. Ace keeps things close to his chest and River is number one priority. Until a stranger is on his land and it’s a site to behold. From the first look Ace knows that Layne is going to be trouble…sassy and confident. We follow as the twists and turns of a new romance begins. Justice takes us on an entertaining bumpy ride to this couples happily ever after. A story so good you won’t put down.
Highly recommended.
Worth the read. I enjoyed Layne. I wanted to really enjoy Ace. He had his moments that’s for sure 🙂 I enjoyed that when issues arose they addressed them! They had moments of self doubt (don’t we all) but they also evaluated their feelings and where their relationship was. That is called ADULTING. Aces daughter River was awesome! The relationship with River and Ace was beautiful. Love the twists and surprises that were woven within and the HEA . The absolute ending made me laugh. When I read fiction I am reading a book that makes me feel and provides enjoyment. I have no issues with how it would stand against reality. If I did I would read non fiction. If you enjoy a book with feeling, strong women, a man who shows his feelings and admits when his wrong, a smart loveable little girl with some suspense and surprise – read the book! Thank you for the opportunity to receive this free book and share my honest thoughts and opinions, unsolicited.
Ace and Layne will keep you caught up in the drama surrounding this story. They both have baggage they are trying to leave behind but right when things start to clear up, the past rears its ugly head. Intent is a well written story with characters that I connected with and cheered on to find their happiness. It is an empowering story as well and one that you won’t be able to put down.

Layne has been with her boyfriend Bobby for seven years but he thinks getting married is old fashioned and not needed but Layne thinks the opposite and now they have been trying for a baby for two years but it just isn’t happening and she can’t understand why so because she is upset Layne decides to go and see Bobby only to find him in bed with her new friend and that completely destroyed her so when her boss told her to take a leave of absence and go and stay in her house in Oak Grove for a few months Layne decides to go and recover and to decide what to do next. Ace is a single dad to River and he will do anything for her as she is his life but when Ace sees a woman on his property he is not happy and they really butt heads as they are like fire and ice but when Ace is told that Layne saved River’s life he decides to thank her with dinner to show Layne that he can be nice. Right from the first time that Layne meets River she falls in love with the beautiful and funny girl and the more time that she spends with River the deeper there connection grows. Ace and Layne have both been hurt in the past and they have walls built around there hearts but will there friendship turn into anything more as time goes on. Omg I absolutely love the banter between Ace and Layne and there connection and chemistry between them is so strong but will it be enough to heal them and give them a chance of being together and getting there own happy ending. This book was amazing and I can’t wait to read more books by A.D Justice in the future as this book was so well written and definitely worth reading.

This book grabs you from the first chapter and keeps pulling you in. Layne wanted to be married and have a child with her boyfriend (Bobby) whom didn’t seem to want to ever get married but agreed to a child. The problem neither was happening for them. One day she walks in on Bobby and her so called best friend having sex. She also is told her friend is pregnant with Bobby’s child. Heartbroken her co-worker tells her to take time off and regroup. She lets her stay a her vacation home. Refusing at first she decides to go after all. She meets a young girl who is in danger and saves her. Little that she knows this will soon change her world as she knows it. She arrives to her destination and wanders onto a horse rehabilitation facility and meets Ace Sharp a worker there. At first it isn’t a great meeting but he soon realizes that Layne is is different and saved his daughters life. Soon we realize Ace is a single father who’s life is similar to Layne’s. This is a story of healing, love, emotion, revenge and most of all family. This is a beautifully must read with plenty of heat and passion
