Where winning means survivalAccording to legend, I’m supposed to be some kind of all-powerful DragonGod—gifted with the magic of gods. Instead, I’m a dud. In fact, I’m currently failing out of the Undercover Protectorate’s magical institute. It’s the supernatural version of Scotland Yard, and I’ve got one chance left to earn my place here. And I’ll need the help of a sexy and powerful shifter mage named Lachlan Munroe.
When we figure out that the race is rigged, Lachlan and I must rely on each other to make it through. But will I be able to learn enough magic to save my life?

I just finally read the first book in Linsey Hall’s newest series and I absolutely cannot recommend it enough! Fantastic story-telling!
I’ve been steadily falling in love with Ms. Hall’s books. I love how everyone’s lives and stories have a way of intertwining.
This is the beginning to Ana’s story, and one I’ve been looking forward to. Unlike her sister Bree, she’s not as confident in her magic, and although she’s no slouch in a fight, she doesn’t have either of her sisters’ ease with battle. She’s always looking for option 2 or 3, assuming the direct option isn’t going to work.
Throw in a studly, powerful super mage like Lachlan and you’ve got a girl who literally falls out of bed, needs alternate options, and is paired up with her sexiest dream/nightmare. She’s got to find her powers, learn how to use them, and control her hormones all while on a super dangerous quest!
Really. What’s not to love?
She’s gotten by with her shield as her only magic and compensated when she needed to. It’s worked for her up to now but is it enough. Now she has to show them what she’s made of and it wont be easy. She’s fighting desperately to show she deserves, no needs this to work. He has come asking for help and is instantly drawn to the woman who ask so many questions. Who and what she is, he doesn’t know. What he does find out is she has spunk, determination and wonky magic. What ever the pull is this woman is powerful and enchanting and he is going to help her no matter the costs.
I love this author and her characters. As I catch up on the series I love even more the way she empowers her characters, building them up and letting them soar. It’s always a wild ride full of friends and action and growth. Each book in the series dives more into the inner character and the evolution and it’s awesome.
I loved this book and the adventures that you will follow. You can’t help but fall in love with Ana Blackwood. The chemistry with Ana and Lachlan is incredible, and really hope that something happens for them. Unfortunately that was put on the back burner for now. I read this book in one sitting. I could not put the book down. Once you start reading, you have to finish to see how it ends. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series.
Kindle unlimited read of Institute of Magic is an interesting story of a young lady with a still appearing unique magical gift driven to join a protective order that would allow her to help others and protect her in return. A high magic user has developed something that has huge consequences if it is used for ill means. The story is fun and fast paced. The writing style though needs more depth of characters, more emotional connection with readers.
The saga of Ana starts off with a bang. I loved every minute of it. I really enjoyed how characters from other books are intertwined into this book. I look forward to the next book. I highly recommend this book.
I volunteered to read this book, I wanted to thank the author by leaving a honest review on my thoughts on the book.
The beginning of another mystical legend: Ana Blackwood. And the ice cold Lachlan who warms just a bit before plunging back toward absolute zero. Along with delightful cameos of the gang from Magic Bend.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.
