I mistook him for a wild beast. Then he claimed me like one.Though I was sent to scan this planet for human life, its inhabitants seem more like beasts than men to me. But now I’ve crash landed, and one of them has decided to take me as his mate…He does not ask before he mounts me and he is far from gentle when he ruts me. But as this brute wrings one savage, screaming climax after another from … climax after another from my virgin body, I know it is not pain or fear that is compelling me to surrender myself to him so shamefully I may never stop blushing.
It is instinct.
Publisher’s Note: Instinct includes spankings and rough, intense sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

There’s a sci-fi story here and not just “aliens capture human girls for fun and babies” either. There’s a pretty simple way to determine if the story can stand on the sci-fi alone. What’s left when you remove the sexy parts? Is there still a good sci-fi story? That’s how you know that it’s a “real” sci-fi book and not “just” an erotic sci-fi romance.
Obviously, there’s nothing wrong with erotic sci-fi, and dark, sizzling sex scenes can often make the book better. But this one has an interesting back story, with Zion and his planet’s tribal societies and Tselia’s rule-driven, technocratic Earth (this is a future Eart) has more than a whiff of “Brave New World to it. It’s nicely written, and the characters aren’t cookie cutter.
Loki Renard has always been a very good story-teller, and she didn’t disappoint this time around. The premise of this book was unique and the characters were lively and engaging. I started and finished this book in one day; that’s how much I enjoyed this read.
What would happen if a woman from the distant future crash landed on a primitive form of our Earth, met others who share her similar DNA but who are still primitively tribal as compared to her life as an intergalactic traveler? Which way of life is better? Can she acclimate to this culture, fit in and become one of the tribe or should she return to the life she’s always known? These are only a few of the decisions our heroine must make through the course of this story.
This is a stand alone book with an HEA, and one I highly recommend.
It Grabbed My attention and focus so strong I could not put it down. A word of advice when you get your copy. Grab a snack, a comfy seat, kick back and relax. You wont be moving until you finish this bad boy here. Remarkable job. Thanks for sharing.

This is a sexy, hot and steamy adventure. The characters draw you in and keep you hooked. I like the ending.
Star girl seeks her lodestar
This is my first book by Loki Renard. I loved the attention to detail in the storyline and the depictions of the characters and the world building. You definitely understand the world that Tselia is coming from, cold, sterile, no PDA. And the world she crashes on is just the opposite. The new world is primal, emotional, all heat and passion. Zion and Tselia are the hero and heroine of this book. Tselia has been searching all her life. She just wants to belong. She’s tired of just being pushed away. Ok so she is a bit inquisitive and doesn’t listen to the rules of her advanced people, which is don’t involve yourself in the indigenous people’s culture but she just wants to see what makes other people tick and she wants to belong. What she doesn’t bargain for is Zion, the alpha of tribe, and his dominate, possessive nature. Tselia has met her match. She is also no push over either Zion might think he is alpha but Tselia can hold her own against him and the bullies in the tribe. There is a very prominent D/s storyline in this book. It very primal and in your face. I recommend this book.
At first I thought these books were Sci-Fi and I don’;t like Sci-Fi but I have found they are pure fantasy just like most of the romance books and I’m finding I like them. Loki Renard is a wiz at writing these books with a lot of action, a lot of steamy hot scenes and a happy ending. The ones I have read are menages but this one with the double you pleasure appendages who needs a second or third partner.

The opening scene set the tone for this book. I didn’t find that this scene was represented in the book though. So I was a bit lost trying to sync the two together. I thought his thoughts in that scene were slightly offputting though her reaction to him was spot on. Once I let that go, I found the book entertaining. I loved her feistiness. I did think that some of the punishments were a bit unjustified so I was engaged by feeling empathy towards her. It seemed as though she got the short end of the stick and he should have protected her better knowing quite well what was going to happen. A good story and I enjoyed reading it.
Can Instinct trump Technological advances?
Instinct by Loki Renard is a great story and thought provoking.
Tselia is a scientific researcher from Earth’s distant future. She is sent to observe a distant planet that may have life forms with related Earth DNA , but it is believed that they would be inferior and primitive. Tselia is very lonely and feels empty due to the customs of her advanced but sterile civilization. Despite orders to have no contact with the inhabitants of the planet, Tselia decides to get a closer look but her shuttle crashes, leaving her stranded. She is attacked by huntresses who wish to kill her to protect their civilization from outside forces, but Zion, the leader of the community is enamored by Tselia and protects her with the intention of making her his mate. As Tselia struggles to “fit into” this “primitive” society will she find what she didn’t know she was missing? When “rescuers” from her own society arrive to take her back will she want to go, would she be allowed to stay? What impact could her interference have on this culture? This story is well written with several twists and turns and surprises. The ideas presented by the author are thought provoking. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Science Fiction and Romance, you won’t want to put it down until you finish. A Great story.

There are no surprises here! As usual this author has produced an extremely enjoyable novel! Loved everything about it – the plot, the way it’s told, the characters, their dialogue, the descriptive writing, it is all perfect as always! But, as always there are some dubious consent issues and there are some trigger scenes as it’s dark! An awesome read! Tselia is on her last reprieve when her “punishment” is to monitor a planet, three light years away. She’s inquisitive, rebellious, independent, and technologically advanced with an advanced DNA. Oh, and to make matters worse, she is the illicit daughter to the Patron of her planet.
Zion is a warrior of a primitive village where males are Dominant and females are submissive. Most males of the village have already taken a mate. Zion is considered a prize of status since a female has not caught his eye for more than casual use.
Loki Renard has given us two different worlds with two different social outlooks and living standards and found a way to combine them. How you ask? You’ll need that pleasure yourself and I use the word “pleasure” intentionally. The D/s element is forefront with all the pain and pleasure you could ask for. But don’t let that be the only influence. There is a plot which runs through the storyline with all the physical and emotional turmoil needed to keep the pages turning. Her characters are so personally relatable you’ll be going through the experience with them. This is an intense read with all the extra benefits of a sexy discovery.
I enjoyed this book so much. The storyline is phenomenal and the world building is out of this world. Tselia and Zion are well developed and characters you like and care about. I could not put this book down. And the ending, wow! It was really unexpected. Read thru the KU program.
I love Sci-Fi stories more than any other stories. This also had the D/s element that is also hot. Tselia seems to get into trouble without any help. She’s just suppose to observe the Solar System but she get’s too close and ends up crash landing on the planet. There she meets Zion. The biggest Alpha male in his society. As he teaches Teslia how she is suppose to obey and do as told he has to help her remember through spankings. The characters are very engaging and I could totally relate to them. I love Loki Renard’s stories. Can’t wait for the next to come out.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Tselia is from another world literally. She crashes on a planet and is saved from hunteress by Zion. Zion knew from the stories that a star girl would come and he would have to kill them. But when he seen her he knew she had to be his.
Tselia was sent to study the planet Hades Exile by the patron which is also her father. Tselia is not the best at listening. Matter of fact if she fails this mission she will be sent to be frozen. Well her curiosity gets the best of her. Tselia ends up crash landing. Zion ends up saving Tselia from getting attack by his female hunters. As soon as Zion takes a good look at Tselia he knows that she is his. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the storyline and plot. This was a very different story in which a woman from the future, an “advanced” human woman from a futuristic time where humans have eliminated disease and have learned to keep humans living for extremely long times, so much so, that most of the species has been placed in stasis. This woman is a rebel, and in fact should not have been born except through a forbidden relation. She is sent to look for human life form on a planet where it is know that many many years prior a human expedition had landed there. She is only tasked to view and report. To only orbit the planet and observe. But being the rebel she is she manages to get herself brought down to the planet where she indeed meets these descendants of the former human expedition who live quite primitively. She is claimed by one of the groups warriors, and from there, the story shows the great differences between these seeming barbaric humans and the supposedly intelligent advanced species that humans have become, and also what they have likely lost in the process.

Solid four stars.
I liked the book and for me it was a solid four stars. That said I wish the author had gone more in depth with the culture of both societies and a little less steam. This book has an excellent sci-fi based plot it just missed the point a bit. Now like all book like this one it hit all the elements, but it could be so much more. I am not saying change this book it will meet a certain audience appeal, but perhaps rework the sci-fi part, tone down the steam to more fantasy then reality pop on a new title and pen name and a whole different group of people could enjoy this story too. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Tselia and Zion definitely came into their love in this rigid world of obedience. Such fun and interesting characters. I really enjoyed their journey.

A complicated story, sexy, hot and violent-ish. This is a great story, well told. Tselia is a curious individual who likes to push the envelope and Zion is an all-Alpha dude who takes what he wants. The story begins kind of slowly, but it builds layers over time and until the drama and tension make are palpable. Zion is the highly desired, elusive single leader who falls for the outside girl. The plot is interesting and the characters are easy to either love or hate, like the head huntress girl, man, I really did not like her. The book is easy to read, the story flows nicely and you really hope they have a happy ending when it’s over.
This is a short quick read that is well-written. Tselia decides to observe the planet Hades Exile to see if there are any human-like life forms on it, she crash lands and it attacked by a warrior woman. Tselia is saved by Zion leader and Alpha Dominant and is then shown their ways. A steamy read that I enjoyed reading. This is an extremely good & entertaining dark Sci-Fi romance, written by a talented author. The story-line & plot is well-written & excellent with a view point and/or description of two very different worlds with different outlooks on life and social manners. The unique characters have complex personalities with a variety of traits. They display realistic & believable emotional feelings.
There is: a arrogant father (Patron), an independent & rebellious woman (Trelia) who has one last chance is sent to monitor an earth-like planet (Hades Exile), a dominant warrior (Zion), adventure, action, space travel, crash landing, danger, enemies, violence, sabotage, conflict, defiance, punishment, claiming, determination, captivity, disagreement, fear, hatred, jealousy, disdain, deceit, domination/submission, confrontations, anger, a unpleasant surprise, rebellion, confusion, negotiations, bonding, love, steamy scenes and a excellent epilogue.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this Sci-Fi romance & would recommend it to people who enjoy reading this genre.
