Anything Lisa Genova puts out is an automatic buy for me. I think this is my favorite of the books she’s written so far. A truly heartbreaking, yet hopeful story.

Yowza. My bookclub read Still Alice years ago, and to this day we still call each other Alice. But this book, about a family affected by Huntington’s Disease, is hard to fathom. Every page you turn, you think “there but for the grace of God go I…” It’s a devastating disease and Lisa Genova knows how to draw you in to a family and feel how it …

Lisa Genova writes realistically of neurological and neuromuscular disorders, many of which have familial risk. As a nurse, I found the O’Brien family to be realistically affected by the tragedy of Huntington’s disease.

Cons:

This well-written book explores the origins and impacts of Huntington’s Disease. The life of the O’Briens is the subject—when the patriarch is diagnosed with Huntington’s. Very realistically told. The characters are believable; the story is told well and with compassion. The author’s research is sound, and her ability to tell the story in a …
