“It hurts, doesn’t it?” he whispered, letting me strain to the limit of my bonds, maintaining the distance between us with a smirk. “Being so close to what you need, yet unable to take it. Five years I went without, Mila. But don’t worry,” he whispered, flicking a lock of sopping wet hair over my shoulder. “I won’t make you wait that long. No, you can have everything you want, right now…”It’s … now…”
It’s been five years since I watched the Goddess burn, since I rejected my sacred-bloody-calling and turned instead to the limitless potential contained in the forest. It alone sustains me, feeding those dark, forbidden urges with ancient power.
Not even he can touch me here, where my influence is absolute.
Stalemate or no, Captain Asher Rawlings is a resourceful man, and though it’s been years since he’s so much as set eyes on my face, he hasn’t given up the hunt.
He’ll never stop.
Not until my knees are sullied and my skin is marked.
But he has the one thing capable of luring me from my fortress of ancient power…
… the one thing I can’t resist…

I liked this book. The writing style was different. There was a quirkiness to it that leant to the disjointed feeling of the creature Mila has become. She is a dark shadow of the girl we first met in book one. She has tapped into a more animalistic side of her nature, and it informs her reactions to other people. There is a darkness in her, now, that she has fully embraced. She revels in the darkness, in fact, and it has turned her into a feral, unique creature. I look forward to seeing where this story goes next.
This is another cliffhanger ending. However, I don’t think there are any potential triggers to worry about as far as content goes.
Hang on to your hats folks and strap in for a great ride! The first story started slow but not this one. It goes gang busters all the way through. Some of the questions that you have from the first book are answered and some pieces click together. I couldn’t put it down! You never know what Mila or Captain Asher Rawlings is going to do next. I personally hope a few of the males from the story get what they have coming to them.
I cannot get enough of this series. I kept trying to find a good place to pause so I could pick it back up the next day, but then I accidentally finished it.
I’m loving the deeper development of the characters and the world building that has gone into these books. It was something I didn’t even know I needed after reading this story in its original form. I feel like it’s only made me love and appreciate Myra’s writing more.
If you’re expecting a typical heroic main character or a typical romance then this may be a shocker to you. Everyone in this book is a beautiful wild mess and I love it so much. It makes for such an entertaining read and always has me wondering what the heck Mila will do next.
Myra Danvers continues to delight us with characters we love, hate and love to hate all within the realms of an enchanting world so well described I feel as if I’m right there along side all of them. This second book in the series dazzles, entices, angers and thrills – tickling all of our senses and stirring our emotions – exactly what good writing and story telling should do. Well done and bring on book three!!
Insatiable Corruption is the next instalment in the Last Tritan series from Myra Danvers. Similarly to the first book I couldn’t put this one down! The character progression for Myra is fascinating and easily demonstrates the dark, twisted soul that Myra has become due to her unparalleled access to ki, a kind of life force that Priestesses can tap into and manipulate. Her relationship with Captain Rawlings is as exciting as ever, with both playing a cat and mouse game in which each unwaveringly believes they will be the victor.
Myra’s writing style draws you in and immediately gets you emotionally invested in the characters and their relationships, not releasing you until you reluctantly reach the end of the book. Tried to pace myself with this one but again I read the majority in one sitting! Can’t wait for the next one Myra!
I went with Five Burning Ki – because I really could not put this down once I started!
You know those rare stories that grab you from the opening scene – That hold you bound and breathless right to the end- Only to suddenly abandon you gasping and needing?
This is one of those!
STOP- This is the second book in this series. This series needs to be read in order for the context to make sense.
“Sorry, I cannot paint the walls with your blood and feast on your ki. Sorry I cannot wear your innards as a string of bike soaked pearls, and winter inside your bloated corpse.” – Wildcat
This picks up pretty much where we left off in book one. Mila has matured to a degree but sadly the consequences of her choices in book one have left her with a much deeper and more ‘survivalist’ attitude than a rational one. I was quite sad to see what the years had done to her, but also understood. When the war began she had just begun to see the truth, she truly was still an innocent. IMO driven by loss and the deep fear of what would happen if the Captain captured her connecting with ‘mother’ was the easier choice for her psyche. She still tends to act before thinking.
I was on edge throughout this episode. My heart broke for Mila. The loneliness and later the utter hopelessness she endured. Even when she was no longer sure of who she could call enemy and who she could call an ally. Even I am unsure of who is working for whom and even who is what.
I worry for Kas
The General needs his head separated from his governing body.
As for our fine captain I still utterly and completely loathe that man!!
I wish this had been longer. The intensity of each new twist and unknown kept me on edge through the entire story.
Seriously, I read this in one sitting, white knuckling my kindle the whole time.
This ends on a cliffhanger – a -What just happened? What are the consequences? Why the heck did that happen?
Sorry I don’t want to give spoilers as I firmly believe in the little things can ruin a really good ‘OMG No” moment
If perchance you haven’t started this series it truly is a must read for those who enjoy fantasy/sci-fi. It does begin a bit complex with regards to the characters and universe but once you are in you will want to stay.
Mila slips ever further into the darkness and closer to the Void as her Goddess-given gifts have become twisted by her pain and sorrows from the Fall. She is lost in her twisted pain so much that 5 years have past in no time for her, but much has changed for others. Her spirit still fights and is defiant against the of Asher and his tainted ki but her pride leads to her capture. I felt her righteous anger all the whole reading this story as she fight to not be used by others, as she fought against those who wronged her, and in the end I just felt for her. I just hope that isn’t the end of her story.
SPOILERS AHEAD, TREAD LIGHTLY!!
If I didn’t belong to the Myra Danvers’ ARC Team, I’d totally wait until all 8 or 9 books are released before I delve into the Tritan world. Waiting for the next releases is just too much for me especially when I get invested into the main characters deeply.
Mila the protagonist is still as wild and tempestuous as ever. You sort of want to put her over the bed and whip her b*tt for being so impatient and willful, exposing herself in Chapter 5 so she was captured by the slavers working for Capt. Rawlings.
But the story must move on and the capture is necessary in order for the Asher-Mila romance to move forward. Her introduction to slave life is pretty ugly, I just wish she learns to curb her tongue and follow Asher’s missives regarding how to behave around the greedy Caledonian elite General Tilcot.
As I remember it in the Lit series, Mila could never really shut up or behave, but I’m ready for some surprises by the author. Myra is a master at writing interesting characters that really pull you in so you feel the characters’ pain too.
Highly recommended if you like out-of-this-world stories with unforgettable characters!
My oh my Myra you got me again! This was an excellent sequel. My only complaint is having to wait for the next one because let me tell you, it’s always difficult. You have masterfully created a story and a character that has evolved considerably since the first book. The story and the universe that you have created is wonderful and unique. Highly recommend this series.
Insatiable Corruption was a super-fast read with action from the beginning to the end and I loved it!! This story is book 2 of The Last Tritan Book Series. It continues the battles of wills between Mila, a Priestess, and Asher, an Elite Caledonian captain. Insatiable Corruption begins a few years after the events of the last book. In that time, Mila has been working against the Caledonians in the forest in the own way. Trying to stay one step ahead of Asher. Her own arrogance will lead to Asher and herself having a meeting that will change the course of her life.
As is usual for Miss Danvers, the story is humorous and engaging and just a bit sexy. And it ends with the hated cliffhanger. I truly recommend jumping into this series.
Mila has embraced the darker side of her powers. Where others shuns it, she rivals in it. Her goal is still to have her revenge on those who have destroyed her world and is just bidding her time. However, there still that one thing that haunts her: Captain Asher Rawlings. He makes himself know through their link and it takes all her focus to not succumb to the sexual pull. To Mila, it’s just a ruse to trick her into giving up her freedom. What will happen when they finally come face to face?
It’s been a while since the first book so when I started reading this second book, I felt kind of lost. However, once I got going, I remembered why I enjoyed the first book and couldn’t wait to read the next book. Myra Danvers doesn’t disappoint at all. There’s still so much mystery to uncover and I can’t wait to find out more, especially in regards to Captain Asher Rawlings.
Another awesome book from Myra Danvers that I could not put down
Myra has a way with words that just sucks you in and puts you right there with her characters. She makes you feel and see what they feel and see. Insatiable Corruption is no exception. I couldn’t put it down.
I really liked this installment of the Last Triton but I felt it was a little too short and left me feeling a little frustrated. But in a good way. I was pulled into the story. savage Mila was awesome and it was frustrating to see her cowed. Wish this didn’t end in a cliffhanger
Absolutely incredible. Another win for Myra Danvers! Savagery at its best. I thought the first book was good but this second book rocked my world. Wow!
Insatiable Corruption is an action packed squeal to Ravenous Innocence. Myra brings you deeper into the mind of Mila who is facing her own demons as the war between what is left of Tritan people and the Empire continues. What Myra brings you is a raw look into a woman who has little self control over her own power who is struggling. Mila is a relatable character who you just can’t help but think of a time and place where you have went head first into a situation. Or maybe you have thought ahead, but never had a plan B? This is a very exciting story, I can’t wait for book 3.
No one writes slightly deranged characters like Myra Danvers! And I mean that as a huge compliment. Mila, with her chaotic ferocity, and Asher, with his calm, psychotic bent have this beautiful ying/yang thing that had me both giggling with pleasure and growling with pent up frustration. It brings to mind the Batman/Joker dynamic taken to the next level.
This is only the third Myra Danvers book I have had the pleasure of reading, and I am desperate to get my hands on more. Her way with words tickles my funny-bone. I feel like I forget how entertaining it is in between books, and I’m tickled pink with excitement after the few first sentences. I will warn that the ending of this one smacked me in the face. I wasn’t paying attention to how much book I had left, and it took me a few to figure out the page was no longer turning. If you haven’t indulged in one the joy that can be found between the pages of a Myra Danvers story, I feel truly sorry for you. This isn’t the one to start with, however, because it is a true sequel and you will be lost. I do recommend picking up Ravenous Innocence and this delicious read at the same time. You won’t be disappointed.
Great 2nd book in the series! I highly recommend!
First off let me tell u this is the 2nd book in this series and u should defiantly read the first book or u will be confused. Also u should know there is a cliff but it’s worth it Myra Danvers has a way with character building and making the story flow. I can’t wait to see what she come out with next
Myra’s The Last Tritan series has sucked me in and has blown me away with the world building and character development. So much is going on in the story, and I suspect even more is going on that will be revealed later! With a gripping story about Mila’s kickass self, her super sharp wit, and inability to maintain self control, she is the character you are going to root for if only to see the craziness that follows. Very anxiously awaiting the next book in this series!
