Lieutenant Eve Dallas hunts for the killer of a seemingly ordinary history teacher—and uncovers some extraordinary surprises—in this thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling In Death series.Eve Dallas doesn’t like to see innocent people murdered. And the death of history teacher Craig Foster is clearly a murder case. The lunch that his wife lovingly packed was tainted with deadly ricin. And … tainted with deadly ricin. And Mr. Foster’s colleagues, shocked as they may be, have some shocking secrets of their own. It’s Eve’s job to get a feel for all the potential suspects—and find out why someone would have done this to a man who seemed so inoffensive, so pleasant…so innocent.
Someone Eve could easily picture dead is an old flame of her billionaire husband Roarke, who has turned up in New York and manipulated herself back into his life. Consumed by her jealousy—and Roarke’s indifference to it—Eve finds it hard to focus on the Foster case. But when another man turns up dead, she’ll have to keep in mind that both innocence and guilt can be facades…

I enjoy all the books in this series. I was able to guess the culprit but not the why . great read
The books featuring Eve and Rourke are delightful fast paced reading. Can’t wait for the new one.
I always enjoy the JD Robb books. While not always realistic, they do make me laugh!
Love the “in death” series
I love all of Nora Roberts’ books written as JD Robb in her Death series. I like that the story and characters continue to evolve and the relationships broaden. A great series of books.
Part of a long series, and while I’m not claiming that it is addictive, there is a certain amount of anxiety experienced until you start the next book. JD Robb is Nora Unchained.
This series never disappoints.
I love reading books by JD Robb.
They are all different but with the same main characters.
They are exciting enough so you don’t want to put them down. This one was no exception.
Although the formula is getting tired still a good read.
I’ve read all the In Death series, many multiple times. I enjoy revisiting the characters.
As usual Robb knocks another out of the park ! I have been reading Nora Roberts since her first Harlequin western came out. As I grew older and more demanding of writers she improved and graduated to more grown up stories. I’m not saying I liked all of her work but the vast majority is sitting on my shelves (including that first western). But the Dallas-Rourke stories are unique and it is amazing that there are so many! Yet she keeps cranking them out and entertaining us and her characters actually evolve and suffer and seem so real that you think you might see one on the street. I kinda sorta thought Peabody was at the craft store the other day but alas no pink boots and hey she hasn’t been born yet! INNOCENT IN DEATH has a rather different twist and I was a little upset with Robb because the victim was an innocent. But Robb is nothing if not realistic with her peoples’ emotions and motives. I am going to stop and save some for the next title they ask for a review of.
Ongoing series with engaging characters that you get really invested with.
Love this series set in the future.
Great story!
Great book with a murderer so unexpected you will never see it coming! Intriguing and really scary. I loved this book!
I thought it was great. I love how Eve goes about solving her cases. Roarke is always so dreamy.
