Really moves right along. The plot is excellent and keeps you guessing. A real page turner. One can’t say too much without giving too much away. Is the memory loss real? What happened on the ferry? Was she pushed or did she jump? She can’t remember.
This was certainly an interesting and intriguing novel. I liked the suspense element of it and as you go deeper into the book there are even more questions. Good reading.
A cute romance between the woman convicted of killing her husband – she’s innocent, of course, just ask her (how many actually admit what they’ve done?) and the FBI agent pursuing her to return her to prison.
Then there are her husband’s cronies – he wasn’t the best apple in the bunch, and they’re no better – who are after her, too.
And let’s not overlook the agent’s cousins and friend, who make a formidable team.
Something different is bound to happen, and sure enough, it does. It’s hard to put down while the action goes back and forth. Some people are just too stubborn for words. When they butt heads, sparks fly.
Another book in the series I have enjoyed to read by the talented author Toni Bolton.
Innocence and Deception is a fast paced, who done it mystery with a touch of romance building thrown in. You are pulled in and you have to keep turning the pages. I enjoyed the characters and storyline. I felt for Charlotte, and what she had been through because of her family – heart breaking. And Agent Collins, I just wanted to wrap myself around him – another book boyfriend coming up.
This is the 3rd book in the series and I cannot wait to grab the 4th.
Recommend – five stars.
Another great read.
Overall, this was a good, enjoyable crime story that set a fast pace, had intriguing characters and a plot that made for a page-turner.
Charlotte has lost her memory and is embroiled in murder amongst other things. Collins is an FBI agent who is on her tail. Other characters – some good, others decidedly not – make for an interesting read; not least the terrible things humans will do.
There are many themes such as power, wealth, corruption, loyalty and romance. The writing style is mainly very good, although, I think some parts could have been cut and there were grammatical issues.
However, I did enjoy the story and would recommend it to those who like a mystery suspense with romantic overtones.
When Agent Collins pulls a woman out of the water, he doesn’t know what to think. How did she end up there? Who killed the officer who was found with her? Is she dangerous, or is she in danger? The only one who could answer is Charlotte, and she has no memory of what happened.
I really enjoyed the character development throughout this story. Charlotte and Collins’ relationship really blossomed the more they depended on one another. One Charlotte went in search of her daughter, the story really picked up, and the suspense was great near the end of the book. This is a wonderful read that can be picked up as a standalone or enjoyed in its series.
