“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Hannah Duncan ignored the old adage, and now there’s a would-be killer in town. Hannah considers fishing a peaceful, relaxing sport… until she hosts the 23rd annual Trifishlon at The Spirits of Texas Inn. On the first day of the three-phase fishing tournament, she discovers nothing can be further from the truth!
It was her bright idea to up the ante: this … bright idea to up the ante: this year’s grand champion would take home $10,000 and become the official spokesperson for Luckenbach Poles. It was a huge improvement to the customary prize of one thousand dollars and a cooler full of beer and gear. How was she to know the lengths some people would go to in order to win? She had no idea someone would be willing to kill for the prize.
When a series of bizarre accidents plague the competition, Hannah and her team suspect sabotage. Now they have four days to determine who is capable of murder and how to stop him or her from striking again, this time successfully.
It’s a topsy-turvy, fun, fast-paced adventure you don’t want to miss. With help from Team Hannah (handsome attorney Walker Jacoby, the lively gray-haired sisters Sadie and Fred Tanner, and the faithful ghosts who reside at the inn), Hannah races against the clock to keep the tournament and all its contestants afloat. With so much at stake, she discovers exactly what some people do Inn the Spirit of Competition!

It is time for the 23rd Annual Trifishlon fishing tournament, hosted by the Spirits of Texas Inn. The tournament is spread over a 3-day period with each phase part of an elimination process to determine the final winner. Rather than the standard $1000 prize money, Hannah has convinced the sponsors to up the grand prize to $10,000 and a spot as the official spokesperson for one of the sponsors.
After a couple of bizarre accidents during the first phase of the tournament, Hannah starts to wonder if raising the ante was such a great idea. There is no actual proof of foul play. On the other hand, there is no history of accidents during previous tournaments.
Are the incidents really accidents or intentional? Is somebody willing to cheat or risk killing a competitor to win? Can Hannah and her team figure out who is causing the trouble and salvage the tournament?
Becki Willis has created another wonderful mystery with plenty of suspects. There are also plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing clear to the end. The characters and situations are very realistic. The area descriptions sound very comforting and inviting.
A fishing competition brings out murderous actions . Accidents, mishaps and injuries galore keep Hannah, Sadie, Fred , Walker and the resident ghosts hopping. Twists and turns make for a page Turner. Cannot wait for more of this series
A fishing competition, an important prize, and people ready to cheat to win. Hannah and her friends will have to find the culprit before the winner is announced. Great cozy mystery.
This is the 3rd book in the series and it’s great. Wonderful characters, great setting and interesting plot. Murder and spirits make for a great read.
this is a wonderful story if you like suspense and romance you will want to read the book Hannah is helping put on a fishing contest but some strange things are going on can Walker help figure it out in time ? i was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review. looking forward to the next story
Welcome to the 23rd Hannah Trifishlon! It may be the 23rd fishing tournament but it’s Hannah Duncans first. Barely 4 months after taking ownership of the tiny Stagecoach town of Hannah TX, and the Spirits of Texas Inn she is still trying to prove herself. She hopes an expanded event and bigger prizes will bring the anglers in and recognition to the Inn. But someone isn’t fishing fair and the finalists are dropping faster than (fishing)flys. this is a strong third book in the “Spirits of Texas” cozy mysteries series, most enjoyable read in order but not absolutely necessary.
A competition that brings out the worst
This third book is a stand alone story as Hannah learns to go from city girl to country girl. The author did a great job bringing new readers up to speed as to how Hannah acquired the Inn and town. You do not have to read the prior two books to throughly enjoy this entertaining read. There is a sweet budding romance building, a nightmare of fishing tournaments, and plenty of active ghost participation. A very likable heroine with a no nonsense personality and the rest of the main characters are fun and witty.
There are several ghosts connected to the Inn and my heart breaks for the ghost Caroline, she has been looking for her husband for many years and is trapped around the Inn along with several other ghosts.
As Hannah wants to keep to tradition with the annual fishing tournament, she thinks that more is better. The chain reaction that begins is an enjoyable twisting story that will keep you guessing until the end with the long list of suspects. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.
Enjoyable book with a Murder, a little romance, and a couple of ghosts.
When Hannah receives a town as a birthday gift she fugues it can’t be too hard to run an inn. She’s not counting on the ghosts that live there, the sexy lawyer in town, or the annual fishing contest that someone is willing to do anything to win, including murdering the competition.
I received an arc or the book and voluntarily provided a review.
Book 3 of Spirits of Texas doesn’t disappoint. Hannah and the gang are hosting a fishing competition and its the contestants who are a bit fishy themselves. One disaster after another befalls the competition with injuries and crazy mishaps. The story keeps you guessing until the very end and the culprit will surprise you.
