I will never get enough of Carrie Ann Ryan’s Montgomery clan. They have grown and they are still mighty. Now we are switching to Fort Collins and Inked Persuasion did not disappoint! Annabelle and Jacob were not what I would have expected. Annabelle had intertwined into his world so tightly, it was hard to not see that these two were made for each other. Yes there was a huge elephant in the room and a whole lot of guilt, but the waves were being conquered as these two figured it out.
This enemies to lovers story will have you hooked! You want to see where the chemistry will lead these two and at the end, I was left with a smile. I could not get enough and am excited for the next books coming up next <3
I loved this story. Brought a few tears to my eyes at some parts but totally worth shedding them. I was so happy that Annabelle and Jacob were able to find each other through all the hurt and everything they went through. And what’s a Montgomery love story without someone taking a trip to the hospital. Lol. These Fort Collins Montgomery’s are just as growly and strong-willed as all the cousins—whether it be the males or females.
Annabelle Montgomery married her best friend and lost him within a matter of weeks. But theirs wasn’t a marriage of love, but of hope. She was young, and after his death she was forced into a media spotlight she didn’t want. She is the architect at her family’s construction business and is working with her siblings to build a future for the company her father started.
Jacob Queen was determined he would never see Annabelle again. He was left with disgust towards what he saw as her attention seeking after his brother’s death. Now that he has returned to his hometown to help his parents, imagine his surprise to find he moved in right next door to Annabelle.
These two have a lot of listening to do. From the beginning there is a current of attraction running under the hurt between them. But before they can address the attraction, they also have to address the hurt, grief, and anger that has simmered between them since Annabelle married Jacob’s brother so soon before his death.
I loved Annabelle’s connection both to her own family and to the Queens. Despite Jacob’s judgement of her, she is a genuine person who cares for those around her. She has stayed close with the Queens, meeting for a weekly dinner that keeps her close to her second family. Her own family is dealing with tensions at work and though she agrees with her siblings, she doesn’t like the way it makes her feel to have arguments within the family.
Jacob seemed stubborn and hardheaded when he was first introduced. But he is also juggling his mom’s health, opening a new law practice while shorthanded, and settling back into Fort Collins after years avoiding it. It was great to watch as he learned the truth about what Annabelle faced after his brother died.
This branch of the Montgomery family is just as connected as the Denver or Colorado Springs branches, but has the added layer of a bit of jealousy from their father. He is also a Montgomery, but from an unrelated family. Their father feels some kind of animosity towards his brothers-in-law and that negative energy impacts the family business his kids are trying to take over. I always enjoy these Montgomery books – the family dynamics, the connection between the main characters, and the easy rolling plots keep me coming back for more. Even though I hadn’t read the entire backlist, I feel like I can pick and choose and not miss a thing if it’s been a while since I’ve been in this world.

I have to be honest, in the beginning I almost put this book down. I REALLY didn’t like Jacob. And I wasn’t connecting with the book. But I pushed past that and I feel Jacob redeemed himself. Annabelle and Jacob are both extremely hard workers. Once Jacob becomes more than an enemy they find they are both quite attracted each other. But how does this really work? You’ll have to read it to find out. Inked Persuasion comes with a little steamy, some dark suspense, and a bit of family drama. Ryan delivers on the Montgomery promise… this family is full of suprises and heaps of love. I always read her latest novel in this series. You won’t be disappointed by the new addition! 4 stars
Love me a good ole enemies to lovers romance!
It’s Montgomery time again fellow readers! This time were in Fort Collins with the cousins, but that doesn’t make the Montgomery’s any less nutty *or crazy* then we are used to. This new series is kicks off with a not so blast from the past coming back to haunt Annabelle Montgomery in the form of Jacob Queen.
When a new neighbor moves in next to her, Annabelle is shocked to see a man she never thought she would see again, her former friend; Jacob has returned to his home town.
Jacob holds a unruly amount of hate for Annabelle, thinking the worst of her. The woman who he blames for the loss of his only brother, Jacob is determined to hate her until his last breath. Annabelle, the woman who married his brother in a farce of wedding, who he thinks has ruined what little time he had left with and who his parents love just as much as their only son left.
Fate has a way of knocking one on their arse when one least expects it. When fate in the form of Jacobs parents inform him on the error of his ways; Jacob must come to terms with the fact that Annabelle is a different person than he thought. Things become clear and their relationship changes with it, just not in a way either of them were expecting.
*Takes a sip of wine*
The Montgomery books are some of my most favorites and this one will be added to that pile. These books always revolve around family and I really enjoy reading what happens next in the lives of my favorite characters. Inked Persuasion is a salty, sweet delightful treat that will leave you with a smile when you finish the book. Five out of five stars from this long time reader!
Jacob has always held a grudge towards Annabelle since she married his brother right before he died. So imagine both of their surprises when they find out how much they are in each others lives. I really wanted to hate Jacob but, I ended up loving him and rooting for them.
Inked Persuasion by Carrie Ann Ryan is the first in a new set of Montgomerys. This edition is an enemies to lovers tale that will leave you smiling. I’ll admit I wasn’t a fan of either Annabelle or Jacob at the start. He was an a$$ and she was a pushover but I trust this author and she made it right and by the end I was in love with them both. Sweet and sexy this is a marvelous addition to the Montgomery world.
Enemies to lovers Montgomery style! This book kicks off the Fort Collins Montgomery’s, and all is not well in this family. The 5 siblings, with two sets of twins, are tight, but there are some parental issues. This affects both work items and relationships with the Denver and Boulder branches, from a parental standpoint. We are focused on Annabelle in this book, the middle child, and her once good, now tumultuous, relationship with an old former friend, her dead husbands’ brother. The chemistry between them cannot be denied, and once he, Jacob, is straightened out, they make peace. But that darn chemistry has then getting all steamy, and they decide to run with that. But keep it to the steaminess only, none of those pesky feelings. Yep, they fail at that, and life’s pressures cause fissures before things can be straightened out. Throw in not one, but two, baddies, causing both ending up injured, and then they finally get their oh so well deserved HEA. Annabelle and Jacob were a joy to read about, they are so similar and well matched, I loved them!
I realllly loved this book. The dynamics of the family were interesting. The kids had taken over the business but the parents couldn’t let go, causing all kinds of hard feelings. A new neighbor that thought he hated the main girl (Annabelle), but found he really loved her. Plently of twists and heartbreak in the book and are coming in future books. Can’t wait. I got this book from the author for an honest review
This author is still fairly new to me and I’m slowly playing catch up with the Montgomery Ink Series, I’m loving everything about this family and I’m still amazed that Ms Ryan hasn’t crossed my radar before now. I was excited for the latest instalment Inked Persuasion and this book was everything I expected and so much more.
Annabelle Montgomery married her best friend not for love but for hope and after losing him a few weeks later she finds herself having to deal with her ex brother in law Jacob Queen when he moves in next door to her. Jacob can’t understand why Annabelle married his brother Jonah and it takes a while for him to understand why we sometimes do things just to make someone important to us happy, even it’s only for a short time.
This couple have a lot of baggage and at times it seems the past will keep Jacob and Annabelle as enemies rather than lovers. Outside influences seem intent on keeping this couple apart so will the baggage and the past make them stronger or tear them apart…..
This emotional roller coaster touched me on so many levels, I loved this couple and I found myself hoping and wishing they would see what was right in front of their eyes, I was kept on the edge of my seat as I watched them getting to know each other, I smiled at the witty banter and I shed a few tears along the way, I swooned and I sighed at the electrifying chemistry they shared and at times I wanted to shake some sense into Jacob. This is a beautifully written, steamy romance that I highly recommend to all romance lovers. Can’t wait for more from the Montgomery family.
Annabelle Montgomery married her childhood best friend as his last dying request and even though she never loved him in that way she has no desire to ever go through that kind of pain again. She has buried herself in her family business, Montgomery Builders, as the lead architect and keeps her life simple.
Jacob Queen has hated for Annabelle for years ever since she made herself to look like the distraught widow after his brother’s death. When he moves home to be closer to his sick mother he has no idea that he has managed to buy the house right next door to Annabelle.
As fate keeps landing them in each other’s paths they can’t deny their attraction to one another but can they keep things without emotion and when one begins to fall will they lose everything?
This is another great book in the series and I really enjoyed it!
I really liked Annabelle and understood why she really had no desire for another relationship yet I also felt bad as she did gibe up a lot to marry Jonah before he passed away. I loved her dedication to her family but lately she was extremely stressed out at work due to the pressure her father was putting on her and her siblings. I also loved that she continued to have Sunday dinner’s with Jonah’s parents and how close she was to them.
At the beginning of the book I liked that Jacob moved home to be closer to his parents but I didn’t like how much he hated Annabelle and was judging her on things that happened in the past. Yet Jacob also never knew the true story and continued to judge her based on his own regrets. Jacob was a lawyer and I liked that he moved up his practice with some of his employees yet he was also struggling with being overworked and very tense and grumpy.
Slowly Annabelle and Jacob formed a truce as they were forced to spend time together and were very attracted to each other. Yet I also knew when they decided to go with a “friends-with-benefits” thing that everything was going to go sideways at some point. As soon as Jacob and Annabelle went out for dinner with Paige and Colton I could see things turning and I wasn’t surprised with who had the doubts.
I found it weird that Jacob’s ex, Susan, all of a sudden wanted to get back together with him and I wondered how far she would go. That being said, Annabelle seemed to have her own suitor but he seemed to relax one she got together with Jacob.
I was very proud of Annabelle and her siblings for doing what they did and how they did it together.
Towards the end I was both surprised and not for what happened. I kind of knew something was going to happen but I was still surprised on how everything went down.
The end made me happy when Jacob finally saw the light and realized what he really wanted and needed in life.
The very end of the book made me so sad although I am definitely looking forward to the next book!
Carrie Ann Ryan has done a phenomenal job with Inked Persuasion. My heart ached and soared. Page after page I was consumed with Annabelle Montgomery and Jacob Queen. I loved this book.
You better be prepared for the hard emotional punch that this book is going to deliver straight to your heart. Annabelle and Jacob’s story will give you all the feels and then some, as their complicated and pain filled history is addressed and a new relationship begins to take root and must overcome its own challenges. I really liked both characters and thought they made a solid couple that was easy to cheer on. The chemistry was awesome and the drama will have you feeling anxious over the outcome of the book. I’m posting an independent, impartial review.
5 star Review Inked Persuasion (Montgomery Ink: Fort Collins #1) by Carrie Ann Ryan
I was excited to learn of the new Montgomery Ink series set in Fort Collins. This is Annabelle Montgomery and her ex brother in law Jacob Queen’s story.
Fate often works in mysterious ways and that’s what happens to Anabelle and Jacob when Jacob moves in next door they are shocked to learn that they are neighbours.
When Jacob learns the truth behind her marriage to his brother Jonah, he realizes that he may have made some hasty decisions. There is so much baggage lying between them but what will happen when they finally give into the feelings that have always sizzled between them?
Outside influences including Jacob’s ex wife Susan will do their best to keep them apart, but it was riveting to watch their relationship grow. The writing is strong as I have come to expect from a novel by Ms. Ryan and the twists and turns certainly added to my enjoyment of the story.
The relationship between them is complicated and yet when danger from Jacob’s past rears it’s head, he is determined to do what is necessary to protect Annabelle.
I am excited to see what happens next in this latest series from Carrie Ann Ryan.
I am always excited to start a new series and this book was a great start to the Montgomery Ink: Fort Collins series. I enjoyed how this story started and meeting our hero and heroine (Jacob and Annabelle) for the first time, you knew this would be a great story. A lot of dynamics going on with this Montgomery family especially with the father, Russell and I really enjoyed when Pamela, his wife and the matriarch of the family stepped in to help Russell see beyond his own issues and to take a step back and let his amazing kids run the show. It was sad to read about Jonah and his mom and her issues but seeing both Jacob and Annabelle being there for both her and Jacob’s dad, was so heartwarming. Of course, the rest of Annabelle’s siblings and friends, added to this being such a great story. But of course, there has to be some drama and it is two-fold with both Susan and Hotch. I kind of had Hotch pegged from the beginning, but I never thought Susan would go to the ‘dark side’ so to speak. My favorite line from this story is, ‘I wore their ink on my flesh, and their scars on my soul’. Definitely a great story and I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.
Like all Carrie Ann Ryan’s book this story has lots of emotions. Annabell and Jacob have lots of history, but not of a romantic nature, they shared the loss of a someone they loved. Now they have to work out their feelings for each other and how they fit into each others busy lives. The Montgomerys are always fun and this new branch of the family leaves us wanting more, I can’t wait to see them all find love.
Oh my gosh y’all, this book I’d FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!!
I love all of the Montgomery books, but this Fort Collins Crew Is off the charts. This book has it all with promises of greatness to come. All of the angst and giggles, with a touch of family drama and falling in love. What more can you ask for? Nothing…perfection!!
I’m starting to realize you really do need to have the sad moments to appreciate the happier ones. So much heartache and in the middle of all of it you don’t ever feel like they’ll be any light at the end. But sometimes you have to grab that shining soul and realize life is short. Annabelle knows this more than anybody having gone through so much already, then her new neighbor says hello… who knew a simple word could knock her on her behind.
Enemies to lovers to friends with benefits to more?
Angst encompasses this poignant tale of healing and a relationship that quickly sucks Annabelle and Jacob in over their head. Our H/h are fully fleshed characters, with dual POVs we get all of the feels as well as their deepest thoughts. But we also get to know their families and friends. The supporting cast enriches the tale, especially since we know we will get more of their story down the line. When you pick up this book, know that you’re not going to want to put it down till the end.
Talk about a complicated relationship. Annabelle and Jacob both suffered a loss that affected them greatly. When they get thrown into each others lives after so many years, Jacob has to come to terms that things aren’t always as they seem. I loved watching them both find their way to an HEA! This branch of the Montgomery’s will capture your heart just like every other Montgomery that has come before.
