Montgomery Ink: Fort Collins Book 1The Montgomery Ink saga from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan continues with a steamy new series. Jacob Queen vowed he’d never set eyes on Annabelle again. When they’re forced into each other’s lives once more, they realize that no matter how far they run, no distance can keep them apart forever. NEW SERIES ALERT! An Enemies to Lovers, emotional, and steamy read. HOT NEIGHBORS!!! If you love my Men of Inked family saga, you’re going to fall for Carrie’s Montgomery family. One click this baby!
I absolutely adored this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and had me by my emotions. These characters have had some hard things happen to them and they have tried to move on but when forced in close proximity again, they can no longer ignore the connection. I loved the way that these characters interacted with each other. There is plenty to hold your attention from start to finish. These characters will have you feeling emotions along with them throughout the story. They grab on and just don’t let go. I can’t wait for the next one!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Their story started off with me feeling a little lost. But you quickly realize that Annabelle married Jacob’s brother when they were both 18, he was on his deathbed and that made him happy for his final days.
So following that their story is amazing they try to do the friends with benefits thing. But they soon develop feelings for each other. This book was super hot and there was some suspense added in also. Loved the book can’t wait for rest in the series.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Annabelle is at a family gathering. She helps give us some inside information about family members. Jacob seems both hurt and angry about something that happened a long time ago. You’ll find out early on that the author has a very devious mind. She also makes it very easy to laugh at someone else’s expense.
It was very easy to get immersed into the world of the Montgomery family. The author seems to include her readers in what is going on. Although at certain moments you might feel like an intruder.
The story has so many things going for it. We have enemies to lovers. We have a second chance at love. But we also have the sad side of life so keeping a tissue handy might become useful if a scene brings a tear. The flip side is that there’s plenty of heat.
You don’t necessarily have to read the other Montgomery books but I hope that as you get to know some of them here, they will give you the incentive to check out their stories. Here, it was interesting to get to know Annabelle and Jacob separately and then watch our author weave their lives together. You may wonder if she has a science degree since she’s very good at chemistry. I’m glad that I’ve already read some of this author’s work and certainly look forward to reading more.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
This book begins the series on the Fort Collins branch of the Montgomery family. Annabelle Montgomery has led a pretty normal life. She works with her family and rarely dates. Having married her best friend years ago and losing him within weeks, she has not made the time to put herself out on the dating scene. Jacob Queen knows about loss, his brother passed at a young age. Now he moves back to his home town to help with his ailing mother. The one person that he has no desire to see again is his brothers widow, Annabelle. He blames her for not being able to spend enough time with his brother before he passed. As luck would have it, he moves in to the house right next to hers. Being faced with her every day is a constant reminder of what he lost, but also he begins to realize that he blamed her for something that she had no control over. As they begin to get to know each other they discover an electric attraction. Deciding to start a no-strings relationship is easy as long as no one gets attached. I really enjoyed reading about these two getting to know each other. There is also the introduction of Annabelle’s siblings and you get to see how they work as a family. Throw in a little suspense and this has everything readers enjoy about a great romantic story. Looking forward to more from this family!
Annabelle Montgomery, of the Fort Collins Montgomerys not to be mistaken with the Denver Montgomerys, has everything she needs and wants. She works with her siblings in their family company and has her own home. Life was good until the day she met her next door neighbor. Jacob Queen. The man who loathed her with all his being. The man who didn’t understand why she married his brother when they were 18. It wasn’t for love; it was for a wish, hope, friendship.
I don’t think I’ve ever read a story with someone who loathed another as much as Jacob did Annabelle. He didn’t know the back story. He couldn’t hate Jonah for having Cystic Fibrosis and dying so he put all of it on Annabelle. Thank goodness his parents finally set him straight! The friendship they forged became a turning point for moving forward. And then…That plot twist! It came out of nowhere! That’s one of my favorite things about this author, she keeps things interesting and keeps me wanting more of her talented storytelling.
I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
This is the first book in the new Fort Collins Montgomery Ink series. First couple is Annabelle and Jacob. Annabelle was married to Jacob’s brother as a teenager before he died. Jacob resented the relationship at the end of his brothers life and hated Annabelle. His parents set the record straight, which lead to a reconciliation but it seemed rushed as their relationship went from hate to dating within a day. There were complications with his ex, her family, and a creepy neighbor. I hope the author goes into details on Annabelle’s fractured relationship with the rest of the Montgomery’s. I still enjoyed the start of the new branch of the family.
The Montgomerys are back! This Montgomery Ink centers around the side of the family that lives in Front Collins. We meet the two sets of twins, Beckett, Benjamin, Annabelle, and Archer along with their little sister Paige. There is in interesting twist about how these Montgomerys are related to the others that I didn’t see coming. This book was about Annabelle. She was married young to her best friend who was dying. Now her neighbor is his brother who hate her for his brother’s death. Jacob was a total jerk for the first part of this book, but I came to the end loving him and Annabelle together. The final pages of this book broke my heart and I can’t wait to see what comes next. I also recommend reading the bonus epilogue because I have one big question from it.
This is the first book in the Montgomery Ink: Fort Collins Series. This is a great start to this new Series, and a great addition to the Montgomery World. I loved it! Jacob and Annabelle’s story is sweet, and beautifully written. Jacob is handsome, and protective. Annabelle is beautiful, sweet, and strong. Their relationship is complicated, filled with miscommunication, and a little suspense. I love the happy ending. The supporting characters are great, and I loved Annabelle’s siblings protectiveness. I like the family bonds in this story. I am looking forward to read Inked Obsession, Beckett’s story.
MAN, this story grabbed a hold of me from pretty much the beginning and did not let go, not even when I finished! Love and hate; hate and love; two sides of one coin. They both live inside of us; both easily flipped. People always say there’s a fine line between the two; I say there is no line, just two emotions in constant motion inside of all of us. We make choices every day that define which one will shine brighter but they are both always lurking.
I’m not the reviewer that gives away plot points, but there are a few things I want to mention about this book because they were so spectacularly done.
Annabelle and Jacob. You’re going to love them. You’re going to root for them. You’re going to get mad at them. You’re going to celebrate them. You’re going to do all the things! Because they deserve it. Carrie Ann Ryan wrote two relatable and realistic flawed people I pictured myself being friends with. As I was reading, I felt their pull. This is always a hard concept for me to review about because it’s one of those things about a book that is almost impossible to convey without examples and examples lead to plot retelling and we all know how I feel about that so … You’ll just have to trust me when I tell you, I just want to be in their circle!
When you read the blurb of this book, you’re not even going to get a tenth of what is actually going to happen within these pages. I was surprised, not with the depth of emotion the story had because I know this author fairly well and know she is damn good at her craft, but the angles, or rather branches, the story took on. Not surprised in a bad way but surprised in an awed kinda way. Annabelle and Jacob already come with built-in baggage to overcome and adding to that outside influences and or problems could have gone sideways fast, but it never did. It could have read overly dramatic, but it did not. Everything fit exactly as it should have.
I really love that my experience with this story was so great because the Montgomery Ink stories have taken a back seat in my reading life for a few years now because, reasons, but now I am ready to move full steam ahead and back! 🙂
Great start to a new series!!!
Another wonderful new Montgomery romance and a promising start to a new series. A slightly different setup and a bit more family tension than in most of the other Montgomery stories, which I thought made for an intriguing change.
Annabelle is a great heroine, a capable and resourceful young woman with a loving heart. Her close relationship with Jacob’s parents was genuinely heartwarming, especially in view of their shared loss. Jacob is intense and quite direct, definitely struggling with his grief and some misconceptions about Annabelle. I really liked them together, the sparks, the banter, the raw emotions… They have an intense frenemies to lovers vibe going on! I liked the unexpected threat to the HEA, which was very well-written and added a nice adrenaline kick.
Amazing! I loved this book. The storyline and the characters, it is very well written. So many emotions in one book. I can’t wait for book 2 in this series!
New from Carrie Ann Ryan! A friends/neighbors to lovers! <3
Loved it. It is very well written. Annabelle has a new neighbor and actually falls down when she finds out it’s her dead husband’s brother, who has hated her for years. Can Jacob and Annabelle become friends or lovers with their over work schedules. I love how characters from the other books come into play. It’s a must read.
I really enjoyed Annabelle and Jacob’s story. There was grief and healing throughout the book, and it had a theme of enjoying the time we have. The story was a very good one. There was an evil thing the author did at the end, but it was necessary to set up the next story in this series. My heart broke for all the things the main characters had to deal with, but I love how the story mimics real life.
Inked Persuasion
I love the Montgomery’s!!
Inked Persuasion is the first book in a new Montgomery spin-off series. The Montgomery’s in Fort Collins are now getting their own HEA’s. First in line is Annabelle Montgomery. Annabelle is her own person despite being in an over protective family. Her new neighbor moves in and happens to be the one man on the planet that truly hates her. Jacob is dealing with his own drama. His mother is ill and he has moved back to Fr. Collins to help care for her. The last thing he needs is to see Montgomery family members everywhere he looks.
Carrie Ann Ryan is wonderful at writing real, relatable characters. Her women are complex, strong, cheese-loving best friends. Her men are layered with tattoos and growls. Another excellent read!
This book will take you on a ride of all emotions! Loss, hate, sadness, second chances and ultimately love. Jacob and Annabelle become neighbors when Jacob moves back to take care of his parents. One problem, he hates Annabelle but is also attracted to her. When the truth comes out about the past his hatred seems to disappear and they embark on a no-strings-attached relationship. There are a lot of ups and downs with this arrangement but when real feelings take hold, can they both let go of the past to find their HEA?
Another great Montgomery story.
Omg what a amazing read. I so didn’t want it to end. I loved reading about Annabelle and Jacob and the way their story unfolded. Carrie Ann never disappoints a reader with her writing.
It’s emotional. It’s steamy. It’s a standalone and it’s supposed to be read by romance lovers – so GO PICK IT UP AND READ IT!
