I really liked the intriguing and complex storyline of this novella. Derek and Olivia promised each other an anonymous, no commitment “relationship”, which worked for a few years. When they changed their rules and reveal their identities to each other, an old heartache resurfaces.
I always enjoy the strong sense of family in this series, even when the main characters aren’t Montgomerys. A terrific addition to the Montgomery Ink series!
This is another wonderful book by Carrie Ann Ryan. It is part of her Montgomery Ink Series. Derek and Olivia have had an arrangement for 4 years. No names. No commitments. No contact. Just get together once a month. They just called each other D and O. This plan was working until it wasn’t. After 4 years, they both had feelings for the other. But they were just so entangled in this arrangement…..that they thought it might bring it to an end if they acted upon those feelings. That all changes one night……when D wanted to hear Derek from O’s lips instead of D. And with that, Carrie Ann adds a little twist to the story which shows us that their pasts are linked. Which, they must face in the present to get to their HEA in the future. Carrie Ann does a wonderful job with this delicate situation between these two. She has their friends, the Montgomery clan come to their aid as they realize Olivia is neighbors with one of them. And that big clan does not disappoint. Giving D advice for once since he is the one who usually giving it out. Hard to say much more without giving away more of the story. Loved D & O and their story.
This story was short but oh so good! I love the Montgomery Ink series and this was a great addition. I certainly experienced a wide range of emotions with this story. I laughed and cried. It certainly packed quite the punch! The steamrolling between Derek and Olivia was off the charts. I loved catching up with old friends.
Carrie Ann’s books always have an emotional element and this one is pretty heavy but also so real life. The amazing part is that this novella traverses probably a six or seven year time frame and recalls much more. I really got a feel for Derek and Olivia is this afternoon read. Their “relationship” could seem tawdry but even though they said no commitment its there. And love could follow if only they reach for it.
I enjoyed Derek and Olivia’s story. The two start off with a very strange relationship where they meet once a month at a hotel and only know each other as D and O. This had gone on for years and one night Derek wants to hear her say his name and when she hears it she freaks out. I am not going to spoil the story for you as it is short. These two need each other and the past has a way of coming back to haunt when you least expect it.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book.
I really enjoyed this novella. I loved finally getting Derek’s story after seeing him appear in other books in the Montgomery family world. The storyline was so unique and interesting that it really kept me glued to the book. I also really liked Olivia and I really think she is a great addition to this series.
LOVE this novella set in the Montgomery Ink world! Derek isn’t a Montgomery, but since he has made their shop his home he has become part of their family. He has had a 4 year long standing “date” with a woman he only knows as “O” one night a month, no names no complications. Everything changes once night when he asks her to call him by his name, not just “D”. In that moment Olivia realizes that she and Derek have a shared past, one she thinks she needs to hide. They both want more than one night, but are too afraid to commit. I don’t want to spoil anything, but this is so good! Can they get past her fears, can he find her again, what will they do when the unexpected happens to them? Read to find out!!!
This is Olivia and Derek’s story. Derek and Olivia have an agreement, they spend one night a month together and don’t contact each other and don’t exchange names. Derek and Olivia both had a complicated past and each hold themselves back. They have to overcome a lot if they ever want a happily ever after. Will they be able to make it work?
This was a great story!! I really enjoyed it! It was a fairly quick read but not too short. Derek and Olivia have had an arrangement for one night a month without names or too many details involved. They can’t contact each other outside of that one night as they never shared those details. Both got in deeper than the original intended idea of keeping things surface level. Both believe they are damaged and don’t deserve/can’t have more. Derek makes the choice to share his name on the step to asking for more but it brings up a twist, as they knew each other when they were very young and are connected by a tragic accident. Olivia puts it together right away but not Derek. I loved how this book was developed. We really got to know the characters as they dealt with this dilemma of what to do. They didn’t really know what the other person wanted since things were changing so much and both knew that there was more involved than what had been shared. This story was really well done and I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved getting the little glimpses of the Montgomery Ink family but this book stands on it’s own for sure.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Impressive! Normally, I am not a fan of novellas because I love character and story development. However, if you’ve read the Carrie Ann’s Montgomery series, you already know many of the characters – so halfway there (smart author!). Even if you haven’t read the Montgomery series (which you should!), you will not be lost. The two main characters, Derek and Olivia, have a past. This story is filled with emotional angst! The two know each other from childhood, shared a tragedy, were separated, then met later in life without realizing who they were to each other. Talk about a sucker punch! Their past has to have closure before they can move on with their future. Their chemistry is hot, but their past really pulls at the heart strings. I really enjoyed this read and like I mentioned before, I’m using not a fan of novellas. So glad to be proved wrong here!
This is a great story. With the perfect blend of spice and emotional depth, this book kept me glued to the pages. A great story with great characters.
I received an ARC for an honest review. This book was hot from page 1. It was so steamy I had to fan myself. The amount of was perfectly matched with emotional drama. Dereck and Olivia had been through so much and deserved their happy ending. This is another great read by CAR.
This is a really good, quick, emotion filled story of two people with a deep connection and good friends surrounding them.
Inked Nights!!! This was such a good story about 2 side characters from the Montgomery Ink world. I loved getting to know about Derek and Olivia. This author is by far one of my favorite one-click authors!!
Another foray into the Montgomery’s World, and who doesn’t love that. This time, it’s honorary Montgomery’s. But they are still family, with love and issues, tears and laughter, and the super hot chemistry that Carrie Ann is known for. Very much loved it!
O…. as in Olivia, as in OMG this book was what it is all about! I have loved the Montgomerys. And while Derek is not a Montgomery by blood, he is one by family. He has all of the angst, prowess, hawt factor, and the proper amount of humility. Olivia, perfect for him. She stands up for herself, she knows her values. Once I started on their story, there was no putting it down. The house could have been on fire. The ending was blissfully perfect!
Inked Nights has to be one of the sexiest installments in the Montgomery Ink series EVER! And that’s saying a lot since Carrie Ann Ryan is over 8 books into the series. And that doesn’t count the multiple spin off series.
I’m a huge fan of the Montgomery Ink series, and Inked Nights is one of the best. No last names, heck, there’s really no first names, since they call each other O and D. No contact information. One night a month. No commitments. How is that not sexy?
They don’t miss a month for 4 years! I can’t think of anything in my life that I haven’t missed without fail for 4 consecutive years. In reality, both Olivia and Derek are lying to both themselves and each other. To not miss a single meeting in 48 months shows more commitment than some couples I’ve known, and has outlasted a couple of marriages.
Both Derek and Olivia are punishing themselves for things out of their control. Derek supports his mother, even though he’s never been enough in her eyes. But then it was is fault. Olivia doesn’t deserve to be happy after what she did as a child.
So when Derek makes the mistake of asking O to call him by his full name, he sparks something that reveals who he is to Olivia.
I don’t want to give anything away, but while this story is one of the sexiest Ryan has spun, taking the journey with Derek and Olivia is amazing. Ryan has created yet another set of beautifully flawed characters that you can’t help but to fall in love with.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.
Inked Nights is a novella from the Montgomery Ink series by Carrie Ann Ryan. This particular book focuses on Derek and his love interest Olivia. These two have had a “thing” for quite a while but it’s no names, no getting to know you, nothing but a night of sex.
Until that changed. This novella will have you learn of their pasts and their future. This particular book in the series is probably the one with the least amount of drama. I think you’ll enjoy this quick read and get to know two great characters from this series!
This novella is an absolutely wonderful read. Olivia and Derek’s story is a perfect blend hot steam, and deep, powerful emotions. A simple no strings, no names, once a month hook up arrangement between anonymous strangers is supposed to be simple and uncomplicated… until it isn’t. With an attraction deepening into genuine affection and the surprise revelation of a shared past these two have much drama and pain to come to grips with and work through. I just loved Derek and Olivia so much. If you like books that are well written, have an engaging storyline, likable characters, enough steam to make you sweat and move you emotionally; look no further. I highly recommend this read. This is my completely honest, voluntary review.
There’s something so special about the novella’s in the Montgomery Ink Series. I love that Carrie Ann gives every character a voice and a story. We really have gotten to see just about everyone that’s either friends or family with the Montgomery’s and I think that is so special!
Because my memory is atrocious, I only remember bits and pieces about Derek. That didn’t stop this story for being any less amazing though. I love how Carrie Ann put these two together in the way they did. I really do believe that live comes around full circle sometimes and mostly in the best ways. I think the pairing of these two was so special and really healing! I loved everything from their backstories, to their current day. I also love that ink was another way these two were connected. I think that’s always been a really fun way to connect the people throughout this series!
Can’t wait for more <3
