From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan comes a new story in her Montgomery Ink series… Tattoo artist, Derek Hawkins knows the rules:One night a month. No last names. No promises.Olivia Madison has her own rules:Don’t fall in love.No commitment.Never tell Derek the truth. When their worlds crash into each other however, Derek and Olivia will have to face what they … Derek and Olivia will have to face what they fought to ignore as well as the connection they tried to forget.
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

I have to say – the premise of Inked Nights absolutely fascinated me. A man and a woman meet at the same hotel one night every month and share a hot night before going their separate ways again the next morning, all while not knowing a single thing about the other, including their names. FOR FOUR YEARS.
I don’t know if i could do that, but for Derek and Olivia, this arrangement totally works. Until it doesn’t anymore. Both of them start to want more, but when Derek blurts out his real name, Olivia realizes that she knows him from her childhood, and that terrifies her. She tries to cut all ties with the man she had come to know as ‘D’. But, as we all know, the world is a small place, and Derek and Olivia realize that they have something else in common besides a shared childhood – The Montgomery family.
I loved how Inked Nights felt like a full-length story, even though it was just a novella. I also loved how Carrie Ann Ryan found a great way to bring us back in the Montgomery Ink world again. Seeing some of my favorite characters from books earlier in the series was a balm to my soul.
As for Derek and Olivia, they have a lot of past hurts to work through before they can see their way to their much-deserved HEA. At least they know they are totally compatible in the bedroom already. They’ve been perfecting that art for four years. And now, they have the chance to move forward with both eyes open, as long as they can both get over their commitment issues.
This was a great novella with lots of heart and heat that I have come to expect from Carrie Ann Ryan.
Montgomery Ink #8.5, As with the other 1001 Dark Night novellas this can be read as a stand alone. One night a month for the last four years Derek and Olivia have been meeting at a hotel for one night of unbridled passion, no names they only know each other as D and O, no promises aside from them meeting that one night. It all changed when Derek broke the rules he told her his name. It was then Olivia realized who he was, and remembered him and now nothing will ever be the same again. As soon as Derek said his name he knew he had gotten in to deep with her, he realized he started to want more then one night, but something spooked Olivia and now he may never see her again. But it’s a small world and Olivia just happens to be his bosses neighbor.
Derek and Olivia both carry a lot of guilt with them, Olivia especially. I love all this, the whole Montgomery Universe, characters can be so broken and damaged but yet they still find their way and get the HEA they deserve. Derek and Olivia together are smokin’ hot. Right off the bat these two the chemistry is off the charts and I loved seeing Olivia and Derek hot and heavy but I also loved seeing them mend the past together and start all over, the epilogue was especially a nice touch.
Overall, it’s another great story from Carrie Ann Ryan. Passions always run hot in her books and this one is no different, she also brings out the best in angst. I always manage to make room in my schedule to read Carrie Ann Ryan’s books because I know they will be worth it.
One night a month and no names. This was the agreement that D and O have for years, until D finally tells O his real name, Derek. Olivia finally pieces together who Derek is and has to confess the truth to him. When Derek learns how they are connected, he freaks out and runs away.
Both are devastated at the turn of events, but will they ever be able to move from the past to have a future?
I loved Derek and Olivia together, they seemed to be a great match. Also loved seeing the other characters of Montgomery Ink again.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
Great story! I am such a fan of both of these series. The Montgomery’s were my first introduction to Carrie Ann and they are such a loveable family and who doesn’t love the 1001 Dark Nights.
Derek and Olivia are two of my favorite people. They jumped on the list as I got to know their story and how deeply they were tied. Family is everything both blood and chosen. Pain often makes a more lasting impression than pleasure and it’s always nice to see the pain turn to pleasure. Seeing how these two fell in love one night at a time was quite riverting for me and I hope we see more of them pop up in future books.
This is a Montgomery Ink novella and it’s Derek and Olivia’s story. What they had was a once night a month thing and worked amazing for years until the last meeting and something so simple becomes difficult.
Amazing story by the author she continues to release great new stories! This one was stunning and loved the characters the chemistry the storyline all of it really.
Overall, great story by the author it flows perfectly and a page turner!! It can be read as a stand alone without any problem. The Montgomery Ink Series is wonderful and one of my favorites.
Inked Nights is the great short story between Derek and Olivia. The two main characters have a clandestine arrangement where they meet only once a month. Fate though has other plans for these two. You learn in the very beginning they have a past but it isn’t clear how. The story then develops with how they end up coming into contact with each other again…but into a different sort. The development of their relationship is excellently written and you really feel the emotions the characters are going through. This story is also great because you get a peek back into the Montgomery clan which is also a bonus. This books is a great, quick enjoyable read.
This book definitely fit the 1001 Nights series! There is TONS of heat and chemistry between these two and you are rooting for them to figure things out and work it out. Due to the shorter nature of the story format I did find at times that I was looking for a bit more but overall a hot and entertaining read. If you enjoyed the other series by this author then this will fit right in.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Olivia Madison does the same thing once a month. Our author did a great job in creating Olivia. You can almost feel her tension, her apprehension and her anguish about something she couldn’t control. Derek Hawkins is angry about the situation. Our author does a great job in showing his frustration, his hatred over something from his past, and the realization that there comes a time where you just have to let things go.
This is one of the more emotional stories. You may not need a tissue at the beginning of this story – a fan maybe. But it may not hurt to keep them handy because at a certain point you might. Olivia has a memory that never goes away. I know how hard that is because I went through something similar – not exact but similar.
This is not one where you will get immersed into the Montgomery Ink series. Derek is one of their employees. Being a novella, you don’t mind that because the author has created plenty of heat between her main characters. If you’ve not read any of the series, this may have you curious as to what it may be about. And you just may find that Derek made an appearance in a previous book. For me, it’s a reminder that I have a lot to catch up on. You certainly don’t need the other books to enjoy this one but if you’re one that follows this author it’s one you’ll want to add to your library.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
For a man determined to not want a commitment, Derek has had an arrangement for the last four years to spending one evening a month with O. They don’t exchange any personal information, including their first name, and they have taken it no further.
Olivia has no intention of getting involved in a relationship so her arrangement with D suits her perfectly until he wants to change the rules. When she finds out who he really is and their connection she backs away as she doesn’t believe she deserves someone like him in her life, but will he be able to find her so that they can heal from the past together?
This is an emotional journey full of twists and drama that have you invested in Derek and Olivia getting their happy ever after and it was great to visit the world of Montgomery Ink once again
Inked nights is another great addition to the Montgomery Ink series. This novella revolves around Derrick, a tattoo artist with Montgomery Ink, and Olivia, the woman he has been meeting for once a month for the last four years for a night of anonymous but intimate relations. That is until they want more from each other and learn their worlds overlap more than they both realize.
These are two wonderful and likeable characters that broaden this familyevern more. Carrie Ann Ryan has done a fantastic job at writing a stand-alone novella in a world that we all love.
I fell so hard for Olivia and Derek… This is a quick, yet emotional, sexy, thrill-ride that will keep your engaged and breathless from start to finish. So fun and exciting I could not put it down… awesomely entertaining and passionate.
This was a cute novella. Derek and Olivia had chemistry and their story definitely isn’t one I’ve read before. I wish I knew a little more about how they met and made the arrangement they had, but that is just my curiosity. There was plenty of content packed into this short book and I enjoyed the latest installment to the Montgomery series.
This can be read as stand alone, the other characters from previous books make appearances but the story is completely stand alone.
Olivia and Derek have an arrangement. They meet up once a month, have an awesome night and then do it again next month. They never exchange any personal information and even refer to themselves as O and D. However, things can’t keep going on as they are. Eventually one of them will want more or become too invested, what then?
Derek makes a mistake one night with Olivia, he lets his real name slip out. In that moment, she realizes she knows him and it would be better if she broke things off. But can either of them live with that? How will they get in tough with each other if they no longer have their monthly meet ups?
Great story with fantastic characters. I loved every second of it!!!!
I almost did not read this one because honestly the one night thing is becoming popular but I knew this author might be able to keep you in this if I ventured in. Boy was I glad I did or I would of missed out on these two Derek and Olivia with one of them I had been wanting to see more about anyways. This is one where stubbornness also was the ruler but slowly will get kicked aside. Another reason I was glad I did not miss this one is the emotions that she filled and some that spilled. With the other characters this one become one that I forgot time so in this.
This book just packed it in. Derek is a quiet tattoo artist working for the Montgomeries. Olivia lives next door to Austin. These two meet once a month for hot sex and don’t tell each other any pertinent details about their lives, including their names. This has been going on for 4 years!. The story opens with one of their meetings and Olivia realizes she knows Derek from when she was a child. The rest of the story is heartbreaking. I loved it. I haven’t had a story make me cry like this in a while. The tears wouldn’t stop coming. It’s a wonderful story about two people who have had heartache and take the steps to rebuild their lives together. WONDERFUL!!
Another great Montgomery story. Loved the title origin. I enjoyed Derek and Olivia’s story. Same time.next month for 4 years. Imagine that. The shocker was the shared history they had. I read an advanced readers copy and freely leave this honest review.
Such a great premise for a book! I liked “O” and “D” from the start of this book but as they progressed in knowing more personal details about each other I fell in love with them and their story.
“O”, or Olivia, cannot help but think about what it would be like if “D” was all hers. He’s kind with her and he follows their rules. But when he tells her his full name she realizes that they have a past. She wants to progress with him but the secret she’s keeping may change his mind about her.
“D”, or Derek, wants more with Olivia from the very start. He craves their once-a-month encounters and he genuinely likes what he knows about “O”. Derek senses something is wrong though once he tells Olivia his name. though. She’s holding back and he’ll push her any way possible, or forgive anything, to make Olivia his.
This book had a little bit of a “just talk it out already” element which I always find frustrating. An uninterrupted honest conversation in the first few chapters could have done these two a world of good. That being said, Carrie Ann Ryan did an excellent job keeping the tension high and readers on edge. This book is going on my “keepers shelf” just as soon as I add the paperback to my collection. A truly excellent addition to the Montgomery Ink world.
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Carrie Ann Ryan is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.
Carrie Ann Ryan packs a whole lot in this short novella. Derek and Olivia are two secondary characters in the Montgomery Ink series and this is their story. They have been meeting once a month for some no name sex not realizing they have known each other in another time and place. They lost touch a long time ago due to a family tragedy. If you love the Montgomery’s, this is just a side story, but great for a quick read.
This is s voluntary review of an ARC.
INKED NIGHTS is book 8.5 in the Montgomery Ink series and is also part of the 1001 Dark Nights line. Although there’s recurring characters throughout, the story can standalone!
Olivia and Derek have spent the last four years meeting for a single night a month of just sex. No full names, no strings, no expectations. One night, it becomes clear that Olivia and Derek are craving more. But when they learn that they’re connected by their painful pasts, their relationship quickly falls apart. Can they look past the sorrow and embrace a future together?
Like most of the stories in the 1001 Dark Nights series, this is a short but sexy novella. And let me tell y’all, this one starts off H.O.T! But I honestly wasn’t expecting the twist that Carrie Ann Ryan threw in there. The thread that tied Derek to Olivia was both sad and strangely sweet. The angst isn’t overwhelming but there’s enough drama to keep you turning the pages.
I love the male cast of characters that Ms. Ryan writes about because they’re always so damn sexy and charming! Derek totally embodied that signature style. He was…well…dreamy! Thoughtful and caring. Olivia may not have had a lot of close friends but she was a good hearted, strong person and her character showed that. They turned out to be the perfect compliment together. I also really enjoyed seeing some of the Montgomery clan again.
If you’re looking for a steamy afternoon read with awesome characters, this one will be perfect for you. Told from dual POVs with a happy ever after. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
