It all starts with a one-night stand…AMANDAMen like Nick should come with a warning label… “don’t touch.” He walked into the shop, smelling like heaven, wanting his first tattoo, and I should have refused his business. Because I knew the moment I set eyes on him, I didn’t stand a chance. Still, I fell down the rabbit-hole with him. Now, he’s gone, moved on, and the result of our one-night … and the result of our one-night stand is left growing inside me. I’ll probably never see this man again.
NICK
It was only supposed to be a little ink. A parting gift to myself from myself. Because when your girlfriend dumps you for a famous rockstar, you leave. You move on. You get the hell out of town and forget all about her. But I never counted on meeting Amanda right before I left. Or the night we shared. Or the mark she left when she put her ink on my skin.
I have to go back.
For her.
INKED is a full-length standalone set in Sarah Darlington’s Kill Devil Hills world.

This is a fast paced story about two people trying to find their places in their little part of coastal North Carolina.
Nick has spent his life dealing with anxiety but one night he walked into a tattoo parlor, met a girl with soft pink hair and a soft voice that makes him feel something besides his anxiety.
Take this journey with these two, you will not regret it.
Amanda and Nick cut deep enough to leave a mark on your soul. Darlington aims for the heart and claims it as her own personal trophy. Inked is a love ballad that will tie your ever emotion in knots. From tempting to heartbreaking there is no escaping the bruises left behind.
All the feels in this new series from Sarah Darlington! From beginning to end I was hooked on Nick and Amanda story… what started out as a one night stand quickly turns in so so much more! I LOVED this book & this new cast of characters! I am so excited for what’s next in this new series!
Wow! I honestly loved this book! Sarah what are you doing to me? I read all your books (or as many as I can). This one was probably my favorite so far. I romance based on a chance encounter mixed with a baby and I’m hooked….no need to feel me in further. They both have things they deal with on their own, but he issues seem more intense. The whole idea of his soul mate having the same tattoo, in the same place too was wild.
Honestly this story touches on things everyone must feel, like they are good enough, pretty or rich and it shows you there is someone out there for you…just be patient.
PSA: there is sex, romance, insecurities, a baby, and a HEA!
Amazing! I’ve volunteered to review this for United Indie Book Blog. I love to read stories from this author. This Nick and Amanda’s story. Amanda is the tattoo artist at Kill Devil Ink. Nick is heartbroken and going back home to Maine. But before he goes decided to get his first tattoo. Oh Boy, does the chemistry ignites between them. Nick still plans to leave in the morning even after a hot night with Amanda. But soon Amanda finds out some unexpecting news from her hot night with Nick. They are so perfect for each other. They come to realized that they can leaned on each other for comfort and support. I loved watching their relationship grow into love, respect, and understanding. I couldn’t get enough of them. Can’t wait to read more from this series. Keep up the amazing work!
What can I say that’s not already been said? Inked by Sarah Darlington was an incredible and addictive read.
It had everything I could ask for and more, and my heart was with them through their journey.
I loved this book and hope to see more of the author in the future.
It’s a thumbs up for me!
4.5 Cranky Stars
I think this has been my favorite of the series so far. Nick was relatable and a real person to me. He suffered from a mental illness many of us have. His character was written from a very real place it seemed. Amanda had real issues too and I liked that about her.
Amanda is a tattoo artist who lives a quiet life in her childhood home. She doesn’t have many friends outside the tattoo parlor and she’s ok with that. When a handsome man comes into her shop for a basic turtle tattoo on his butt she doesn’t like him much. He seems uptight and too good for her but she sways him to trust her to improve on his basic turtle tattoo. She figures this will be their last encounter and bids him farewell. Nick has mental health issues. He thinks he is too boring and not the type of guy anyone would want so he dedicates his life to his marine biology degree specifically sea turtles. When he finds himself in a tattoo parlor he isn’t expecting to meet Amanda. Something about the quiet pink haired woman calls to him. He figures this is their last encounter and doesn’t pursue anything beyond that. Fate has other plans for them and it’s up to them to see where this will go.
Like I said I loved Nick. His beanie has his comfort item reminds me of my many cardigans and sweaters. My husband calls them my security blankets. I loved that his panic attacks are just one of many ways they can happen. For some its full scale meltdown while some panic in silence like me. I loved that Amanda was a take charge girl but still very quiet and reserved. They are both introverts. I have liked this series since the originals in which this is a spin off from. I can’t wait for the next story.
Nick goes into a shop for his first tattoo. He meets Amanda and she inks him. The two end up having a one night stand before Nick leaves town. He was in love with a girl that left him to be with a rock star. Now he can’t get Amanda out of his mind after their night together. He ends up going back to town looking for her. Amanda is pregnant but she tells him it is someone else’s baby. She is afraid he will leave again. A messed up, good steamy story with the misunderstanding straightened out.
I confess that I didn’t remember Nick very well, but I loved him in this book.
After being dumped for his ex-girlfriend, Nick decides to return to Maine to be with his family, but on his last night in the city, he goes to the shop where Amanda works to get a tattoo.
The chemistry between Amanda and Nick is instantaneous and they end up giving in to the attraction, but when Nick leaves, he didn’t know he would leave a piece of him behind.
When Nick decides to return with his friend Lou, Amanda awaits him with a surprise, but the two decide to give their feelings a chance and open up to each other.
I loved the story, the characters and everything they had to face along the way. I highly recommend the reading.
Sarah brings you along for the ride with real life situations. ANXIETY is a true life issue and Sarah addresses the raw emotions with Nick. Loved the inked scenes. I felt like I was there watching.
Inked is the first book in a new series but with a familiar background. Being that I was to be on vacation in Kill Devil Hills this week, reading this story took a little of the disappoint off of not being able to travel.
Anyway, I love the way the author weaves a story. You get encapsulated within the character development, potential and eventual execution of their actions. This story, while I enjoyed it, was a little meh for me. I’m not a fan of the whole “you’re not the father, sike” storylines. I think I’ve seen too much of that in real life maybe haha. And the character, while starting strong, flattened out a little for me as we went along in the book. I’m hoping this is just a blip and the next releases will have me back on the happy thoughts train. Like I said, I enjoy the authors other release very much so I’m sure this is not a common occurrence. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy without expectation. All opinions expressed are my own. 3 3/4 stars is my rating for this latest release.
A new series set in Kill Devil Hills. Sarah’s books take me on a vacation to the North Carolina shore and I love every minute of it. In the books you may get glimpses of some of the other characters, but each book can be read standalone.
We’ve met Nick before in Crazy Sexy Notion as Mick’s half brother and again in Never Trust a Rockstar as Emma’s boyfriend. Inked is his story and boy do we get to know him. On his last night in Kill Devil Hills before moving back home he decides to get his first tattoo, a sea turtle. Not only does his artist give him her design she also gives him hope and a night he can’t forget. Amanda believes she will never see Nick again until he surprises her and walks back into the shop a couple of months later. She also has a surprise of your own. I loved watching their relationship grow into love, respect, and understanding. It was fast paced and messy at times but I couldn’t get enough!
interesting and intriguing story with great characters and interactions kept me up all night turning those pages. Written in a way that I felt their emotions and feeling right along with them. Great ending to an awesome story. Definitely recommending this one and looking forward to reading more stories from this author.

This is the latest release from the author and it gives readers Nick’s story with the introduction of Amanda. Nick is trying to get over his breakup when he strides into the tattoo parlor where Amanda works. He is looking to get some ink but winds up with a new design and a lot more than he expected. Thinking that Amanda would never see Nick again after their one-night affair, she goes about her life and receives some news that shakes her to her core. Adding to Amanda’s surprise, is the return of Nick along with another woman. Will Amanda tell Nick the truth about her secret? Can Nick and Amanda open up and build a relationship based on honesty? This is another poignant storyline that shows the depth and growth of two people who learn to overcome the obstacles that they face in life. It also brings back some beloved characters from previous books. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
I absolutely loved the hero of this story Nick, everything about him was perfect including his tattoo of choice lol and that’s how he meets Amanda. These two have a instant connection and since Nick is moving they have a one night stand that leaves more then just lingering feelings but when Nicks back Amanda does some things I don’t personally like in books but overall I still really enjoyed the book and how it deals with real life issues.
This is a feel good easy read! Loved both main characters and supporting ones. A strong heroine with sass. A hero who thinks he’s broken but he’s really strong and has overcome a lot!! Great se$ytimes. You catch up with some previous characters from other books! Surprise pregnancy is one of my favs.
Sometimes, the person you always believed to be your match was not the perfect person for you.
Hello, fate! By carelessly going to a tattoo shop and meeting that person who would turn his world upside down not only because she was the one who would understand him, but because she gave him a child.
Discover Nick & Amanda’s love story.
before leaving town for good.. nick decides he needs a tattoo… he picks one of a average Sea Turtle.. but when he meets Amanda.. and she talks him into letting her give that average turtle a update.. how can he say no.. the attraction between Nick & Amanda is instant and hot!! With one night left in town.. they spend it together… little did they know that one night will be one they won’t forget..
this is my first book by this author… def not my last… I need FINN & LOU’s Book!!!
What a fantastic story Inked was! I fell inlove with both Nick & Amanda and felt so much for them! These two are absolutely right and perfect for each other! Both are sweet, swoonworthy and sexy together! Loved the ending! Excited for Marked!
I met Nick in Never Trust a Rockstar but didn’t really get the chance to know his character, so it was great to meet him again in this new and so enjoyable story from Sarah.
Who knew that Nick was hurting so bad when Emma leaves him for rockstar Caleb? As he is getting ready to leave town he decides to get some ink, meets super sexy tattoo artist Amanda and fireworks explode around them. What starts off as an appointment becomes a one night stand that neither of them will ever forget. When his friend Lou persuades him return to Kill Devil Hills Nick meets Amanda again and starts a passionate romance with her.
What a surprise to find out that Nick is not the shallow entitled rich boy that I thought he might be, but instead he is loving, passionate, easy going but has a big secret. Although he is trying to hide his mental illness from Amanda she witnesses it first hand and rather than run from him she loves him and supports him even more.
This is a beautiful love story about two people who have never really fit in with those around them but fit perfectly together. I was totally engrossed and never wanted it to end. Everyone wishes they could find a love like this though not everyone does.
Although I am a big fan of the Rock Star Books I think that this my favourite of Sarah’s so far. Her writing seems to have matured and I think that she has put more feelings and depth into this book as she explores the issues of mental illness and unplanned pregnancy and I was definitely moved by her writing. I was left intrigued by what happened between Lou and Finn so hopefully that will be a future story to enjoy.
