This book has an interesting premise built on Egyptian myth as opposed to Greek. So many other books use Latin as its language of power. I am no historian, but to me using Egyptian lends this magical world co-existing with our own a greater weight of age compared to Greek-based stories. Just because It is older, doesn’t mean thery have worked everything out. They are still prey to our basic human problems and the need to overcome them plus the complications and bagage resulting from long life and magical gifts. Interesting read with ingageing characters.
Loved the characters, the story, the plot twists, all of it set in a modern day world with supernaturals living among us in secret. Very cool.
I really loved this book.
The characters were well written and the magical elements were astounding. Full of action and interesting twists and turns I couldn’t put it down.
Great Job Lindsey! Lindsey Sparks
” Ink Witch – An Egyptian Mythology Urban Fantasy ( Kat Dubois Chronicles, #1) By Lindsey Sparks Is A Tale Of One Katrina Dubois …once an assassin …Now a tattoo parlor …Ninth Life Ink owner…But when Nik tells her …her brother Dominic l’Aragne is missing …along With Mari her old partner and several Nejerets then Kat & Nik go hunting …and when an evil corporation stands in the way ..Ouroboros … that just ups the ante!! Read and see. Much enjoyed and Highly Recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book.
I do not usually read ‘paranormal’. But this story grabbed my interest. It seemed more realistic in ‘magic’ abilities. The long lived characters added a deeper dimension that I have not found in other paranormal reads. It wasn’t too magical or fantastical. Problems seemed more realistic. Good plotting and character depth.
It was OK,
Loved it and the following books
It is a page turner, Dam I have to get the second book- have to see what happen next!!!
interesting and fast paced
It was a fun read.
3.5 stars
Tattoos. Egyptian gods. Kick ass heroine. All things that I enjoy. I liked this book and the characters. I hope the next one is just as good.
What an interesting storyline! I’ve not read anything like this before. I believe this book was a suggestion from Amazon. My first book by Fairleigh. Glad I took a chance! Interesting premise, characters are well developed, great world building. In an over saturated genre (don’t get me wrong, I love UF and PNR) this story sets itself apart. I got this on KU and snagged up #2 as soon as I was done. I recommend this series. Two thumbs up!
This engaging paranormal adventure is the first book in the Kat Dubois Chronicles and is an excellent start to what promises to be an action packed series. The heroine is feisty, gritty and driven, she is no meek kitty. I thought the characters were well crafted with interesting pasts, strengths and weaknesses. The world building was good and the paranormal characters were unique. The storyline flowed smoothly and was filled with action and danger. The story was told from the main character’s point of view, allowing insight into her past, emotions, self doubts, motivations and actions. The dialogue was well done. I look forward to reading more stories from this series.
A thoroughly enjoyable story with a fully realized world, interesting and unique paranormal angle that I have not seen elsewhere, and a kick ass heroine. What more do you need?
Intricate, detailed world building and an action-packed story.
Ink Witch is an interesting and entertaining story with characters having unique attributes. I like the concept.of Ink Witch but at times more action and less internal dialogue was needed. Several unanswered questions remain. A few scenes seemed thrown in without a real purpose when one stops to consider the entire story. Undecided if I’ll read book 2.
