Kaylee knows art, friendship, and love. And because she’s known love, she wants nothing to do with it ever again. She likes her life just the way it is. Her art and her Brushes with Lushes classes keep her sane and happy.Landon spends his days with numbers and financial spreadsheets. At night, he just wants to relax, but the only way he can do that is with a woman. But these days, not just any … just any woman will do.
Kaylee and Landon do an excellent job of dancing around each other, but no matter how much desire burns between them or their own personal hang-ups, they’ll need to make a choice: life as they know it, or a life that could be so much more.

I am so excited that our author finally gave us the answer so many have wondered about what… What was going on with Kaylee and Landon. For books and books they have been fluttering around each other and we the readers and of course the Montgomerys and their adopted family have all wondered if they are a couple or not. Do you need to have read any of the other books in this series to “get” this book? No but let me say that if you want a wonderful read I HIGHLY suggest all of the Montgomery Ink series. Note this is a shorter book, a novella so you can enjoy it in an evening with a glass of wine or hot chocolate. Snuggle up in bed and say hello to some of our favorite Montgomery friends in Colorado while we watch the dance of Landon and Kaylee to true love. I can not want to travel to the next city to visit more of Montgomery clan…
Ink By Numbers is a short sweet story featuring some secondary characters that we have grown to love. We have been curious about the relationship between Kaylee and Landon and this story fills us in. A sweet and sexy tale told with wit and humor.
Ryan keeps hitting it out of the park these days! Another worthy romance in her Montgomery Ink series!
A montgomery Ink enemies to lovers romance that you can pick up and read all in one sitting (trust me you’ll want to)
A friends-to-lovers bonus Montgomery Ink romance. Perfect for a one-sitting afternoon read!
A very quick friends to lovers/ second chance romance that can give you all the feels. Great book with great narration.
This is a relatively short story that can be listened to on the go. The characters and the story is great. I get to listen to Joe Arden in all his wonderful talent…Bonus!
I want to be a part of this family. I just love this series and the spin-offs and can’t wait until the next one comes out. Keep up the great writing, thank you!!
I’ve ready many of Carrie Ann Ryan’s works. I’ve even read a few of the other Montgomery Ink series. I will eventually read all of them. The people are so real and the story lines are believable!
Kaylee and Landon are friends of the Montgomery clan and have appeared in other story lines. Their always dancing around one another but never taking the plunge. That changes in this novella. Kaylee comes from a wealthy family where she is expected to do what her parents, especially her mother, wants her to do. Disagreeing with this sentiment, Kaylee moves to Colorado and finds new happiness. Landon comes from a family that lives paycheck to paycheck and believes that he should be their financial benefactor. Landon is also the only one of his siblings that has made something of himself. This causes resentment within the family. Although Kaylee and Landon are not technically together, they are always around each other and notice the little things that only couples notice. In this novella, Kaylee and Landon finally stop dancing around one another and take the plunge. I enjoyed the story and look forward to the next in the series.
Each and every Montgomery Ink book by Carrie Ann Ryan is a page turner. Kaylee and Landon are another couple who prove sometimes to find love that lasts, you recognize your love at last.
Such a sweet story, I wish it was longer. That is the hardest thing with novellas for me is I always want more! If you have read the three Colorado Springs books you already know Landon and Kaylee, they have been dancing around each other for a while. If you haven’t read them you don’t need to, this is a great story on its own.
Landon is a hunky often broody financial planner. Landon’s upbringing probably had a hand in his career choice as his parents and family members always seemed to live paycheck to paycheck or well above their means which landed them in financial trouble. That being said he is also the only one of his siblings to make something of himself which had caused a little resentment in his family.
Kaylee is an artist she owns a studio in Colorado Springs and once a month has a Brushes with Lushes evening where people can come paint, drink some wine and have a good time. Kaylee’s life has been the opposite of Landon’s her family is well off and she has never wanted for anything in her life expect maybe a mother that wants her to be happy. Kaylee’s parents put big expectations on her, not only was she to marry well as to further the family in their social standing they didn’t think her art was something she should pursue.
Landon and Kaylee have kept their relationship private and on a friendship basis for over a year now and something has to give. They have become accustomed to each other always being there but never taking that last step to propel them into relationship status. That’s about to change.
This is a fantastic bite-sized treat from Carrier Ann Ryan! I love the Lushes with Brushes scenes from the Colorado Springs spin off of Montgomery Ink.
Kaylee and Landon have been dancing around each other for what seems like forever. I loved this peek into their pasts and why they’ve been avoiding what’s obvious to everyone else.
I read this one sitting and it was the perfect bite-sized reality break for anyone who has read any of the Colorado Springs Montgomery books.
3.5 stars
Short and sweet novella where we finally get to see what’s happening with Kaylee and Landon’s relationship. They both were fighting their feelings and wanting more than a friendship. We get a small glimpse at Kaylee’s family but not a lot of backstory.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book
Ok my friends, for those of you who don’t know Kaylee and Landon have been circling around each other for a year. They’re friends and have helped the Colorado Springs gang get their head together when need be and this little story gives us the why on the circling. It is a sweet and lovely story of two friends realizing the relationship they thought they didn’t want, they truly did and didn’t consciously know it.
You also get to see a bit of their family life and learn what makes them ticked. The artist and the money man, you wouldn’t think that they’d fit together but they truly do and it’s beautiful to see. It’s a beautiful thing when two friends find love, its even more beautiful when they find it with each other.
I loved this book! My only complaint is that I finished too quickly! I’d long been interested in Kaylee and Landon, Kaylee from Brushes with Lushes, and Landon from hanging out with the guys, buts especially from Carter and Roxy’s book. Their relationship, or non-relationship, was curious.
They were the two lone single members left of their little group, and the others thought they were together. And they were, kinda. They were friends, had tried being lovers once, but went back to being friends when it didn’t work. But did they really? There was something there, everyone except the two of them saw it. The chemistry, the caring, they did have it and it was getting harder for them to keep pretending that what they were was only friends.
It was only a matter of time. And when they did decide that enough was enough, they got back together and it was wonderful. Like I said, I just wish the story were longer. I felt cheated in that we came in after the relationship had already started. I mean, we did see it in previous Colorado Springs books, but I wanted more. I’m just spoiled though. I love the authors character development and since these were secondary characters, and we know them already, I didn’t get it in this novel. I do know them, though, so it’s all good.
I’m just ready for more full length Montgomery novels, and can’t wait ….
Ink by Numbers is book 3.5 in the Colorado Springs Montgomery spin off. It gives us the story of Kaylee and Landon. These two have been circling each other for a while and everyone in the Montgomery clan has been wondering what’s going on.
I loved this story. It was so cute and a quick read. As always, it was well written into this great world. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love a book that I can read start to finish while I wait for my kids, but I’m picky about the quality & CAR always delivers. Fast and sweet story where we get some history and a hea for Landon and Kaylee. Great slow burn feel but just at the point of ignition.
Thank you for your review.
