It’s everything but business as usual.Emmie Elliot hadn’t expected to come back to Metlin, California. She definitely didn’t expect to stay. She returned to her childhood home with a mission: Sell the building that housed her grandmother’s book store and move on with her life. But life doesn’t always go according to plan.To reopen her grandmother’s book shop, Emmie will need a hook. She’ll need a … need a hook. She’ll need a strategy. She’ll need an… Ox?
Miles Oxford doesn’t have much interest in quiet bookstore owners. He’s a tattoo artist without a space to work, and the last thing he wants is to get involved with anyone after his last disaster of a relationship. Work and pleasure don’t mix for Ox, but since he doesn’t have any interest in the cute girl with the bold business proposal, he should be safe from any awkward complications, right?
She sells ink. He tattoos it. Unusual? Yes. But a book shop/tattoo studio might be the ticket for both Emmie and Ox to find success on their own terms. As long as they keep their attention focused on business.
Just on business.

Since I’m not a big reader of fantasy or PNR, I have yet to read a book by Elizabeth Hunter. I’ve wanted to and even been tempted to just forge ahead into those genres in order to experience what reader friends have been sharing with me about this author. Imagine my excitement when I saw the release of INK. When I finally had the chance to read it, I was thankful I couldn’t unfairly compare this book to her PNR releases.
I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end. It was refreshing, original, and compelling. Every character brought life to the pages and the undefinable town of Metlin. Although the opposites-attract romance between Ox and Emmie was a fabulous tête-à-tête, it was the town, occupants, and overall writing that bolstered the story. And the romance was fabulous. It wasn’t necessarily a slow-burn, but paced perfectly to create some wonderful tension. What stuck out the most was the delicious dialogue. I could read the conversations between these characters forever. It was witty, natural, realistic, and straight-forward. It felt like I was just hanging out with all of them. I didn’t want this story to end and I’m anxiously awaiting the next book that involves more of these characters and this town. Overall, a low angst and beautiful love story that isn’t solely about the main characters but the town itself.
A VERY enjoyable story featuring realistic, relatable people doing real world things. Which is NOT as real a thing as you’d think in the world of contemporary romance.
I absolutely loved Ink!!! The premise, the plot, just everything about it!
Emmie Elliot…I want to be like her when I grow up!! To have the guts to make so many changes in ones life and do something you love….such an inspiration!!!!! She returns to her hometown and meets Miles Oxford aka Ox.
Their first meeting was unforgettable….and funny. They develop a bond that morphs into more….the supporting characters were such a breath of fresh air as well.
As this was my first read by Ms. Hunter, I plan on checking out her prior works.

I really enjoyed this book. I really liked the originality of it. I’d never heard of the idea of a book store and a tattoo shop together before. Now that I have, I totally want to shop in one. That aside, I really loved the characters in this book. Emmie and Ox have this slow burn chemistry going on that is really hot. When they finally get together it lives up to the promise of it. I also really liked all of the side characters. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. This book is definitely going on my recommend list.
