New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken proves that everyone scores to win. But off the field, a fumble can change the entire game.Pro footballer Miller Quinton would do anything for his best friend and teammate—including “fake dating” his friend’s sister. What no one knows is that seven months ago in Vegas, Miller and Kinsey did a whole lot more than just kiss. Miller knows that this … Miller knows that this cheerleader is off-limits to him and any guy on the team. Still, he can’t stop himself.
Kinsey’s whole world is on the verge of crumbling. Her dad has cancer. Her overprotective brother is falling apart. Dating Miller may be a fake-out, but he’s the one guy who can make her forget about everything—including all the reasons she stayed away from football players. With each heated moment, Miller feels more like a safe place…even though he’s not safe at all.
Now temptation is testing every rule in the game of love. But how long can they go on playing when winning is a harder goal than either of them imagined?

Wonderfully entertaining characters in Van Dyken’s second novel in the Player’s Game series! Goodness, these two have every reason to stay apart, yet the steam between them sizzles off the pages!
4 Stars
Infraction is the second title in the Players Game series, a second chance romance, that also fits a brother’s best friend and sports romance tropes. This title is as heartfelt as it is humorous, taking you through a gamut of emotions.
What starts as a simple arrangement to keep Kinsey’s ex at arms length, gets complicated very quickly with the intense chemistry, attraction and connection Miller and Kinsey share.
The banter between Kinsey and Miller is fun, flirtatious, witty, and full of humor. The constant push and pull of their relationship and the way in which they challenge yet support each other creates an engaging and entertaining plot.
All the characters are quite endearing and quirky, but Jax, Kinsey’s older brother takes it all a tad too far, he’s way over the top protective, and at some points its borderline crazy. I hope we get his story next as he’s quite intriguing as loony as he appears.
I look forward to future titles in this series.
*5 Stars*
Holy moly. This book. I was sooooo keen for it after reading the first one not too long ago, and I sure as hell was not disappointed. I wanted to get to know more about Miller and for him to get his HEA, so I wanted this book to be awesome. I sped through it in one day.
Miller and Kinsey are so similar but it takes them a while to realise it. There’s also a whole lot of secret stuff going on in this book that I was desperate to find out the answers to. I was emotional during this read, a hell of a lot, but I also laughed and swooned too.
I really love both main characters, they’re both so strong yet so afraid of being hurt. They’re also both more open to it than they realise, and they have a friendship to build on. I loved their banter, and they fit so well together.
Jax, Kinsey’s brother, also has a big part in this book, even having a few chapters with his own POV. He’s Kinsey’s hero, her big brother, and we see him being very OTT protective of her. I really want to learn more about him.
There’s emotion in this book, but not its not in an angsty way. I cried, I will admit that, because oh man, there are feels in this book. And over a few things too.
This book is really about accepting who you are, accepting your past and learning that you can’t control everything. Life happens. And you should Rawr like a Lion.
I really can’t wait for more in this series, and I’m hoping the next book is about Jax.
Well done Rachel, can’t wait for book 3!
If I had to describe Infraction in one word it would be PERFECT. This book was such a fantastic read giving us more of the characters we have come to love from reading the first book in the series. Even if you haven’t read the first book in this series, you will still fall in love with these characters and their story, making you want to grab and read the first book as soon as possible. This book gives us Miller and Kinsey’s story and what a story it is. The attraction and chemistry between these two was undeniable and irresistible. Their story truly gives readers all the FEELS, we want when reading a book. My heart raced, I laughed, I had tears and I ended this story with the biggest smile on my face possible. I enjoyed every character in this book and truly enjoyed the moments with Kinsey’s driving and Harley’s grandmother. However, the moment that truly touched my heart happened in the hospital and once readers read this book they will know the two moments I’m talking about. This is a story of love, loss, brotherhood, friendships, forgiveness, strength and most importantly family. I highly recommend this book to all readers. THIS BOOK DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!!! I definitely can’t wait to see what story this author comes out with next because it will definitely be on my to read list.
Infraction is the second book in the Players Game series by the very talented Rachel Van Dyken. You can read it as a standalone novel but the characters were introduced in Fraternize. You don’t have to read it first but I do recommend it. Now…if you did read it then you will know Miller and Kinsey. You will also know that they slept together seven months ago in Vegas…
Seven months. It’s been seven months since that night in Vegas. It was amazing. Then, they woke up and they went back to being strangers. It’s been seven months of avoidance. Seven months of silence. Seven months of secrets. Miller knew if his best friend and teammate, Jax found out about that night he would be a dead man. He was very protective of his little sister, Kinsey. So, just imagine the shock on their faces when Jax tells them that he needs them to fake date. To protect Kinsey from hurt. To keep him calm the chaos going on in his head so he can concentrate on the game. Miller and Kinsey know it’s not a good idea but they would do anything for Jax because he would do anything for them. Except let them date…for real.
Miller and Kinsey’s relationship is something else. They were friends before they were one-time lovers. They want to be friends again. They have to if this is going to work. The problem? They want each other. Badly. But it’s complicated. Miller has had his heartbroken before and is now scared that it will happen again. Kinsey has been hurt in the past. She has a past that not many know about. She was hurt once by Miller already. Can she trust him enough to risk her heart again? Plus, there is Jax. What will he do if he found out about Vegas? What if he figures out the kisses are not just for show but for real?
I know that once I open an RVD book that I will laugh, feel flush, and tear up. With Infraction I did more of it all. I have never cried so much in one of her books. Ever. I loved it. I love giving authors my tears. The writing was addicting. The characters were real. The story is heartbreaking, sexy, heartwarming, and so much fun. Miller made me giggle and swoon. Kinsey made me laugh and cry. Together, they made me do all of those things. And well, Jax he surprised me. He really did. The overbearing ass. He is quite the guy. It was also great seeing Grant and Em again. Grant just cracks me the fuck up.
Overall…it’s an emotional, sexy, and fun journey!
P.S. I Ben!
Quotes:
“Waffles, was that a moment? Are we possibly . . .” He paused. “Bro lifting right now?”
“Just”—I jerked away from him—“play your part, and I’ll play mine, we’ll shake hands when this is all over, and if you kiss me again, ever, without my permission I’ll tell Jax all the other places you kissed without his permission and we’ll see where that leaves you . . . and the team.”
“You say things like that, and I may just get attached to you, Quinton Miller.”
This one was so full of good stuff. Miller lost his love and best friend when he moved away in high school and when he was traded to the Bucks found out she was a cheerleader for the team. That was the first book and they resolved their issues but she ended up with his teammate (good call there) and they resumed their friendship. After the playoff win they all ended up in Vegas and Kinsey was sharing his room and sleeping on the couch but ended up in his bed…oh-la-la…don’t let Jax know! Returning home Jax wants to send her away for the summer and Miller agrees (stupid man!). When she comes home she learns her old boyfriend in on the team and Jax pushes Miller on her as her fake boyfriend. Oh, this was fun. Add in their father dying and all the stress but this was all done with the author’s humor. I found myself laughing through this even with all the emotional issues. Definitely read these in order but make sure to read them. Highly recommend!
HOLY SMOKES!!! This is Rachel’s sexiest, steamiest — Holy Batman. Full of emotions, laughter, and heart. And not only do we get Miller’s Story but we also get Jax – so it’s a two for one.
Everyone fell hard for Miller in book one but I knew he was made for Kinsey. These two together are fun and explosive. But behind this story is Jax and he totally won my heart.
I loved every minute of this book and dare to say it’s even my favorite over Fraternize. Although I’m a big Team Sanchez player… I think Jax may be my overall winner.
You can’t go wrong with an RVD book and just like every genre she tries her hand at… Sports Romance is a touchdown for her too. Pick up the series. You won’t be disappointed.
I listened to the audiobook for this one, which is why it took so long. People need to stop interrupting my listening time! Honestly I love this story. I love when there are multiple stories going on, and multiple couples.
There was a lot going on between everyone, and it made for great drama. I love that things kept unfolding throughout the story. My only issue is that there were a couple of things I feel were unnecessary, but may actually make the story for someone else.
Gahhhhh! Ok. So then end of Fraternize left me feeling so bad for Miller! BUT….. you had an idea that he was going to get together with Kinsey! I love these 2 together! And you still had a whole lot of Sanchez in the mix with his sarcastic remarks (I kind of love him). Then there is Jax and Harley! Man if those 2 were the most perfect for each other than I don’t know who would be. She had his number from jump and knew just how to keep him interested. Miller had some very serious issues! Even though he knows that Emerson was better with Sanchez and was totally ok with their relationship, it was still a hard hit taken to the heart. So before he can give himself to someone else, he has to let go of the past. Kinsey is the the woman to help him do it. And the fact that they have to “fake date” at the request of Jax it gives them the opportunity to see what is there without him getting all “big brother” on Miller. The unfolding of these relationships was very interesting to follow. With the love triangle in the first one I thought I was going to be mad and not like how it all turns out…. I was quite content for all of these characters loved the HEA that they each got!
Infraction by Rachel Van Dyken was another unputdownable read!
In true Rachel fashion, Infraction was absolutely spectacular. Miller and Kinsey are two characters who will make you believe in true love. These two characters have been through so much both together and apart, that you can’t help but root for them. Their desires, suddenly become your desires. Their hopes and dreams, become everything that you could ever want.
I loved that the entire relationship was rather “forbidden,” and that they learned so much about one another, before anything could truly be shared with others. I think that this allowed for Miller and Kinsey to get a full understanding of what a relationship between the two of them would be like.
I highly urge everyone to go and and grab Infraction today. It will quickly become your guilty pleasure.
5/5 Stars!
Feels… All the feels came with this book. Where Fraternize was funny and sweet, Infraction was sweet and emotional. The characters were completely lovable and funny and all shared strong bonds (teammates, friends, lovers, family) that molded them as individuals and as a group. Their interconnected ties created some of the strongest and sometimes tested relationships that had them coming out the other side only stronger that before.
In this story Rachel Van Dyken gives us more character perspectives with a much bigger story and love is in the air on that football field. The brotherhood these players have and the friendships they’ve formed…it was all just magic to feel and then the love relationships that grew was absolute icing on the cake.
Where Fraternize had me laughing and swooning, Infraction had me laughing, swooning and crying. I was put through every emotional gamut possible and would willfully go through that roller coaster all over again. This was such a fantastic read!
Can’t get enough!
This book was just one of those stories you just can’t seem to get enough of. I didn’t want it to end! After I read Fraternize (and Sanchez *fans self) I couldn’t wait to get my greedy little hands on the best tight end with the best tight end in the league, aka Quinton Miller.
This book made me laugh and broke my heart and made me cry. The characters were perfectly layered and real. I would love to read more of Jax and Harley. The were so sweet together.
I absolutely loved this book and HIGHLY recommend you get to reading this series!
I loved the first book in this series, but I loved this one even more. I just loved Miller and Kinsey together. Their interactions would have me smiling, scowling, or feeling sad depending on the occasion.
I even loved Kinsey’s brother and was very happy to see a little bit of his relationship.
When I picked this book up one night before bed, it was so good that I had to force myself to put it down and get sleep for work the next day. I took it on my vacation to Branson the following week, and often stayed up later reading it there as well. This definitely works as a standalone, because I hadn’t read the first book in the series, and didn’t need to have read it in order to enjoy this story. However, I now want to go back and read the first one, because of getting to meet those characters in this story. I also am going to be ready to read the next book, as I assume it will be Kinsey’s brother who takes center stage in that one. This was a sweet, quick read, with a few steamy parts. I look forward to getting to meet this author next weekend at Book Bonanza.
Kinsey is such a saucy little thing, “don’t worry, I won’t steal your cookie, Miller, not even if you force it down my throat.” I groaned. She slapped my ***. And I nearly broke the countertop with my fingers as she skipped off with a backward wave.” Kinsey and Jax’s dad was something else when giving Miller the third degree, “so, she’s the prettiest thing you’ve ever seen and yet . . . you’ve kept it in your pants?” When Kins is in the mood girl don’t care where she’s at, “…her red lacy bra was the most distracting thing I’d ever seen in my entire life. “Kins.” My voice came out like a curse. “We’re literally parked in front of your parents’ house.” I loved this book, I loved the humor, the characters were entertaining and each had their own personalities
A great read! Really enjoyed the storyline and the main characters. Miller and Kinsey have chemistry they are trying to deny. It makes for a hot, and a little bit of angst kind of read. It’s sweet and funny with an emotional element. I highly recommend this book.
So, I couldn’t leave this world that Rachel Van Dyken created. I wasn’t ready. When I finished Fraternize I thought I would just go back to the other books I have on my tbr.
Well, I thought wrong. I couldn’t even concentrate on those other books–trust me, I tried. I have commitments and obligations and none of those were fulfilled.
I caved.
I downloaded Infraction.
I got sucked in.
Let’s be honest, I’m a sucker for a best friend’s little sister romance. I’m a sucker for football. And after the way RVD blew me away with Emerson’s story, I just had to see what she had in store for Kinsey.
Had. To.
And that leads us to now. To the fact that I sat down on my couch after a day with my sister, and picked up this book. This Infraction. This book by Rachel Van Dyken. This world of football and cheerleaders and characters that wouldn’t let me go.
I sat down on my couch.
And never got back up.
Not to eat or take a bathroom break. I didn’t grab a drink or let the dogs out or look at my children (I’m pretty sure they destroyed the house). I sat on my couch, kindle held firmly in my hand, and my eyes glued to the screen.
And now, a few hours later, I am frozen. I am shocked. I don’t have the words (you know, except all the crap I’m spewing here). I wanted light and fun and rom-com. I wanted best friend’s little sister and football and, did I mention, fun?!
And what do I have?
This weird wet stuff dripping from my eyeballs. I don’t cry. I had zero desire to cry. But here I am, blubbering like a hot mess because RVD just ripped my content little heart out and fed it to me.
I told myself with the Fraternize that RVD had the power to flip the script on me. She had the power to do the unexpected and catch me off-guard. I should have prepared for this. I should have expected her to do something crazy this time around, too. But my silly, silly brain ignored the warning signs. It ignored the fact that she had pulled the rug out from under me once before and that she was more than capable of doing so again.
And who was I to think I was safe in getting some fun football action? Who was I to assume that best friend’s little sister wouldn’t leave me with tears? Who was I to believe in something like the unwritten rules of romance and love and tropes.
She fooled me once, shame on her. But damn, she fooled me twice. Totally shame on me.
But it was worth it. Every single laugh–because I laughed out loud on numerous occasions–every single tear, every single gasp and pause and bit of heartache was worth it. Because in the end, it was perfect.
I would say it’s a surprise but it’s not. RVD made me cry…again. It’s as if she tries to hit you in the feels every time.
Infraction is the much anticipated sequel to Fraternize. I was chomping at the bit and throwing a tantrum waiting for this beauty. No spoilers but you definitely need to read Fraternize to know the characters. Could you read it without? Possibly but why lose all the yummy details, stories, and naughty bits!
Infraction is heart warming, heart breaking, healing, hurting, and aggravating. Okay well the book isn’t, the characters are! You will want to slap, shake, smack, and dump a bucket of cold water on some. Others will need hugs, holding, and a genuine smile. As a reader, you will need patience (dumb jocks acting the fool- you know who you are), a big heart (some are in denial and need extra love), and waterproof mascara (if you wear it).
Sometimes the biggest challenges require the smallest answers. Or in this case the sweetest, most adorable messenger!
The title will peak your interest.
The blurb will have you one clicking in curiosity.
But the words, the words will have you racing through to see what happens next.
It may even have you wanting the t-shirt. I totally have both Sanchez and Miller shirts….Looks like I need another one.
Infraction is NOT just a sports romance. It is a book where love is fought for and won. It will bring you to tears yet also make your cheeks hurt from smiling. And to make it even better you get TWO love stories for the price of one 😉 Yup — aside from Miller & Kinsey’s story, you also get Jax’s story! Really can it get any better than this?
Gosh, I’m so glad I read this book and the book that came before it! Fraternize and Infraction honestly read like one 500-ish page book instead of two smaller ones.
Miller, the hero, had a huge portion of book one (Fraternize) told from his POV, so I already knew him VERY well. This made my desire to read about his happy ending very strong! When I started reading Fraternize, I really thought that Miller would end up with Emerson and Sanchez would end up with Kinsey. Spoiler alert, it’s the opposite!
Kinsey was a fairly prominent character in book one, despite not having her own POV in that book, and I loved her from the moment that I met her, so I was also so delighted that she was getting a happy ending with Miller.
Real life problems were dealt with in this book. Emotional abuse, cancer and other deathly illness, family communication issues, adoption. So much in a 287 page romance novel, and yet it all totally worked!
I loved that Jax, Kinsey’s brother, had a few chapters told from his own POV and that he also got his own happy ending with Harley. I was expecting there to be a third book with Jax and Harley being the focus, but Ms. Van Dyken wrapped it all up nicely in a big red bow! It all just WORKED.
So if you’re thinking about reading this and you haven’t read book one yet, go read Fraternize first!!! You really need too to understand Miller. And then immediately read Infraction. They’re wonderful, don’t miss out!
There’s two and a half sex scenes between Miller and Kinsey, somewhat detailed but not overly so. There’s a couple fade-out sex scenes with Jax and Harely (meaning the scenes end before any explicit sex is written about). A little bit of language, F bombs used the most frequently, but not enough to be super distracting in my opinion.
