Except today something is different.

Loved this book a re read. I am going to like this series.
This was a quick read that had me hooked from the beginning. Ash and Syd had a great father daughter relationship and you could feel Ash’s struggle with being a single parent with his uncertainties about being good enough and doing enough for his daughter. Enter Emma, a girl who has known him since high school but was not confident enough to pursue her dreams and Ash until given a little push from her friends. When together, the pair have off the charts chemistry that is palpable. Ash and Emma’s story was a quick read but I could not get enough of their story. It was heart breaking at times but such a great read that I would recommend to others.
I am a huge fan of Laramie. This one is on my top favorite of her’s. A single father just trying to survive having a little girl that he is raising for the most part alone. Until one day he realizes someone that has been there for a long time. Emma has always been there just in the shadows until she realizes that maybe just maybe throwing herself out there is exactly what her life needs. I absolutely loved this story line. Amazing characters with great chemistry. I love how well Emma and Syd get along with each other. I loved Syd and how her character handles being around her mom again. Just a great book from beginning to end. Laramie did an amazing job with this one. Can’t wait for more from this series.
An amazing start to what is sure to be a fantastic new series. Inflame is a fun, quick read that kept me glued to my Kindle. I was swooning hard for Ash from the start. I mean who couldn’t love a hot firefighter who is also a sweet single dad.
I fell in love with Ash immediately. His love and devotion to his little girl is as swoony as it gets. He works hard to make sure his daughter is taken care of and if that doesn’t have you melting into a puddle I don’t know what will. Sydney is the cutest and my heart melted for this sweet adorable girl.
Emma has crushed on Ash since high school. She was always too shy to do anything about it, and Ash always had a girlfriend. When a snow day brings Ash and Emma together they both finally admit how they feel. I loved Emma for making sure that Sydney was included in their plans.
If you are looking for a sweet, quick read that is light on the angst but heavy on the swoon, then this is the one for you! I highly recommend you pick this one up!
I am a Laramie Briscoe virgin, there I said it I have quite a few of her books on my Kindle waiting to be read. This is a fantastic introduction to the series. I connected to everyone of her characters and devoured this book. This book was an acquaintance has to lovers, they went to high school together but were in different social circles. I just love Ash and his cute but sassy daughter Sydney. My heart broke for Sydney and Ash, to a degree, when Sydney‘s mother wasn’t in the picture. Emma is a sweet and kind soul who has had a crush on Ash since their high school days. Finally he makes the first move and Emma runs with it. Emma is stuck in a rut working at the diner and the library because she’s comfortable in those jobs. She isn’t fulfilled and Ash helps her with that. I love them as a couple with Sydney. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!
Holy Moly! Laramie sure knows how to write an awesome love story!
How is she not more popular then she already is??? I mean, seriously…?!?! She’s amazing!
Ash and Emma have always known each other due to growing up in the same small town. Emma has always had a crush on him. Ash never noticed her since he was in love with the woman he was with who later became the mother of his child and his wife.
Now is the right time and these two start to date. And his little girl, Sydney!!! She was too stinking sweet!
This book made me feel good. I loved all these characters. I felt connected to them. Plus, I always love a single parent romance story. 🙂
I highly recommend this one. It is the first book in this new series. Can definitely be read on its own.
P.S. That man on the cover!!! *fans myself*
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

I love Laramie Briscoe’s books. They are always amazing a draw me in and keep me reading as fast as I can. I love her characters and Ash and Emma are no exception. Who doesn’t love a hottie fireman. Ash and Emma have known each other since high school. Or I should say they new of each other in high school. Emma had a hugh crush on Ash but he would never go for her. However though the years Ash became a now single father to his daughter Sydney with an ex wife and Emma still hasn’t made her move. However when he walks in to the place she works she decides its time and makes her move, and so does Ash. These two had a connection and I loved every second I got to spend with them. This is a really sweet romance that packs the heat. Do not miss it.
*Recieved and ARC for an honest review*
Super sweet, and fast paced insta-love novella. Honestly I guess I completely spaced out and forgot about this book being a novella. I really wish it hadn’t been, I feel like the book had more potential and would have been better if it was longer.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the book. It was short and sweet and a great start to a new series, but that was it. I felt like it was missing something and the ending felt rushed to me. Overall I enjoyed it for what it was, a short story, and I look forward to reading the other books that come along in the series.
5 “Single Dad” stars!!
Ash is amazing. He kills it being a single dad and hustles when it comes to his job. There were some heart wrenching moments when he is on call and I just wanted to give him a hug. His sweet baby girl held my heart hostage. Inflame has a whole lot of emotion. You will feel the uncertainty, the sarcasm, the growing pains with raising a child. Then the need for companionship comes in full force.
Emma was a great heroine. She understood Ash and was there for his low. I love how she easily fitted in Ash’s life. I kind of wished for a bit more angst, but I loved this story either way.It still deserves the 5 stars I am rating my review. I am excited for Laramie’s Midnight Cove Series.
I love this book!!!!
If I say nothing else I will say that.
We have a hot as F**k single father who is also a firefighter, and then we have a waitress who has had a crush on him forever but he never noticed her or so she thought.
Ash loves his daughter she is his world and when he notices Emma these two hit it off , being a single dad is hard on a good day and not having the emotional support of a partner makes it harder,
Emma is trying to figure out what she ew ants yo fo with her life and getting to have Ash and Sydney in it makes it better.
You have got to read this book because the story is one that pulls you in and makes you love the characters like you would people you really know.
What woman in their right mind can’t appreciate at smexy single dad story? I can absolutely get behind Ash and Em. Ash is
… honest to God he’s probably the HOTTEST male character Laramie has written in a while; that says a lot because I can’t name a single male lead thst isn’t already HOT.
Every box is ticked off in Inflame, we get the small town, fabulous female lead who is strong without a man but she won’t say no.to the right man having her back. We’ve also got the smart and sexy single dad Ash who is a firefighter. He’s lonely and would love the right woman for life and he’s absolutely devoted to his daughter and not in a “ugh really that’s a bit OTT.
I am so excited to see where the rest of this series takes us and who gets a story next!
This story is sweet and steamy all mixed in one. It roped me in from word one and I kept turning page after page. This author writes an amazing story of single dad and second chance romance. The characters are written very realistic and very much like your own family. She includes the sweetest part, the child, who makes this story so much sweeter. I felt so sappy by the time the story was over. This was an AMAZING book and I will read more by this author.
Read this blurb for the summary of the story:
Single-Dad / Firefighter
Since my divorce five years ago, these are the two labels I’ve identified with. Now, I’m ready for more. Ready to give dating a shot, even with an eight-year-old daughter and twenty-four hour shifts needing my attention.
When Sydney has a snow-day and we have an epic malfunction in the kitchen, we decide to head to the breakfast joint we’ve frequented for years.
Except today something is different.

Buy this book. You won’t regret it!!
What a wonderful heartfelt story. It’s a storyline that makes you smile from the beginning to the end. For me this book is like a breath of fresh air in spring, with smiles and happiness throughout. Very well written with character you’ll fall in love with. Especially Syd, who will steal your heart with her grown up attitude to the world.
Ash is a firefighter and a single Dad raising a precocious 5 year old daughter named Syd. Syd is his whole world and he goes out of his way to be both Mom and Dad to her. Yet after five years of divorce, Ash wishes for a partner in life. Emma is a shy woman who works 2 jobs to make ends meet. She knew Ash in high school but he was way out of her league and only had eyes for Courtney, his ex-wife. Now she just daydreams about him when he brings Syd in for breakfast at the diner where she works. But what happens when one day, Ash leaves his number on the ticket for her? Will shy Emma get the nerve to call him?
This is a Wonderful small town romance that I highly recommend. 2 Thumbs up and 5 stars for an amazingly sweet story that you won’t soon forget.
This is the first book in a new series from this talented author, and what a fantastic introduction this is. Ash is a single dad of a cute little girl, and Emma is a waitress, who has had a crush on him since high school. This is a beautifully written story about taking chances in life, and is filled with drama, fun, and is an all round entertaining read. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and cannot wait to read more from this author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
A•R•C – I was given Inflame: Midnight Cove Book #1 by Laramie Briscoe as an Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) from Give Me Book Promotions. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Thank you Laramie Briscoe, Inflame: Midnight Cove Book #1 I loved it!
Ash AKA Ashford McKinley, single Dad and Firefighter extraordinaire is lonely in his personal life, he has his daughter Sydney, his parents, friends and guys he works with but no one special. Then when he was taking Syd to breakfast on a snow day from school he sees Emma, I mean really sees her, she’s known Ash since high school and has had a huge crush on him since, but Emma never felt right in her own skin, she’s a shy girl wearing oversized clothes to hide behind. Emma works two jobs a couple days a week she works at the Midnight Cove Library and as a morning waitress at Bridget’s café where the tips from the morning rush help her doing her secret passion making artistic cupcakes and cookies, she has an Instagram page for them but still scared to pursue making her dream job her reality.
Ash leaves her his number to text or call leaving the ball in her court and she takes it and texts him she’s not like he thought she would be she has more confidence then he thought, and he likes it, a lot!
Their chemistry is scorching hot! Love the characters, the story line, love 6-year-old Sydney’s character, her need for female role model and how her Mom is trying to step back into her Mom role.
Ash is a single dad, firefighter. He’s devoted his life and time to his daughter and job. Maybe, just maybe he is ready for more. Seeing Emma in a new light as she serves Dad and daughter breakfast at the town restaurant, the thought matures and their future begins.
The author is one of my favorites and I’ve fallen in love with every one of her heroes. Each of her ladies makes me want them for friends to count on and share secrets with. You’re going to feel the same for Emma and Ash. You’ll want to adopt his daughter or at least have visiting rights.
This isn’t a long read, however, you’ll get to know the characters and watch them fall in love and share their lives as they try to overcome all the problems of life and love.
I love reading Laramie Briscoe books! It’s especially fun to be introduced to a new series and fall in love. This book features the trademark alpha law enforcement officer Ms. Briscoe writes so very well, as well as a female lead who we all want to be for so very many reasons.
I enjoyed this tale of a firefighter doing the single dad thing…meeting the right person at the right time. There was an overwhelming sense of second chances, living life in the moment, and open communication. It was a well written feel good book, without being sickly sweet or over the top.
Single Dad Ashford is doing his best to be the only parent for his daughter Sydney. He has a great village to help, and does his best to keep his attitude towards his ex neutral for his daughter. In addition to parenting, he’s a firefighter for the town of Midnight Cove. Emma is a waitress at the diner Ash visits as well as working at the local library. The two knew each other in high school…and Emma’s been nursing a crush on Ash ever since. Ash takes a chance leaving his number for her at the diner, and Emma takes a chance and texts him. That first text conversation is one of my favorite parts of the book. These two took the time to get reacquainted, be honest, be brave, and take chances. These characters reminded me of some of Ms. Briscoe’s other books (“Trick” and “Menace”).
Emma had a crush on Ash for a while, so we know how she feels. Meanwhile Ash comes to a previously unknown revelation about Emma…coming out of a post divorce/kid raising fog to step into a new phase where he has feelings for a woman. Despite never being in any of those situations, the emotions were so well written and laid out that it was exhilarating to read their attraction! From that first text conversation to their dates, to the interactions with Sydney, and of course the smoking hot sex; these two made it all work seamlessly.
This book ended much too quickly, but in the best of ways. It seemed so short and now I have to wait impatiently for the next book in the series. This book came to me at just the right time to give me faith in people-it was refreshing to read about divorced parents who could be civil and kind; to read about people who built others up instead of tearing them down; to read about people taking a risk to be better. I also felt that Ms. Briscoe did a good job of writing about the struggles a firefighter may deal with in life-not too over the top, and not downplayed. I hope it was true to life, and my utmost respect and thanks goes out to those protecting our nation.
While much too short for my greedy reader heart, I loved this happily ever after tale of a sexy firefighter and his lovely lady who finds her new place in life (can’t give that away!). May we all strive to be diplomatic, kind, honest, open, and willing to communicate with those we love. Can’t wait to see who gets to star in book two in the series!

What a great way to spend my evening. This story was short, light, fun and steamy.
I loved Ash and his dedication to his little girl. If that wasn’t enough he’s a big, strong, sexy firefighter and I’ve developed a huge crush on the man. And now let’s talk about Emma; I really enjoyed her introvert personality. It suited her quite well. I loved how Ash was able to pull her out of her shell. It made their romance that much more endearing and heartwarming.
I’ve once said and I’ll say it again Laramie Briscoe sure knows hot to write great stories with blue-collared man and the women that steal their hearts.

Inflame is a great start to a new series by Laramie starring Ash, single father with a cute little girl Syd, and Emma the waitress with a heart of gold. Ash is doing his best juggling fatherhood, fighting fires and being single. His ex-wife kind of left him to take care of their daughter by himself but she comes back into their lives wanting to finally get to know their daughter. Ash is in the process of hoping everything will work out for his daughter while trying to pursue something with Emma. Emma is working just to pay the bills without truly exploring what she really wants out of life. Until one day her wish finally comes true when Ash finally takes notice. When they embark on this new relationship, they start learning things about themselves they didn’t know they needed. Emma has been holding herself back from following her passion until Ash makes her see that she can do anything. They are both taking on different things in their lives but are completely onto the fact they could be falling hard for one another. I think they are so cute together and I like how their story is a romance without the angst and drama. Their chemistry can go from a slow build to an all-out intense fire burning up the pages. This story is a quick read and I would have liked to have more character background to go along with it. I like the relationship they were building up to and the scenes with Ash and Syd were my favorite to read. This is a sweet small-town romance with a feel-good quality in the story line and characters. They will all make your heart melt just a little when you read about their tale.
Ash and Syd as a family of two because of a divorce. Learning to forgive and move on with life . Glad they do take a chance because everyone deserves a happy life with out . Great story line.
