From a USA Today Bestseller comes a new series about single parents! Single-DadFirefighterSince my divorce five years ago, these are the two labels I’ve identified with. Now, I’m ready for more. Ready to give dating a shot, even with an eight-year-old daughter and twenty-four hour shifts needing my attention. When Sydney has a snow-day and we have an epic malfunction in the kitchen, we decide to … in the kitchen, we decide to head to the breakfast joint we’ve frequented for years.
Except today something is different.
Our normal waitress, Emma, isn’t all baggy clothes and ducking her head to keep me from seeing her face. Today? Today I feel like I see her for the first time, and damned if our gazes don’t ignite a heat I’ve only felt while on the job.

This was a sweet romance without a lot of drama. Em had a crush on Ash when they were in high school but he didn’t have eyes for her. Fast forward and Ash is a single dad with with an adorable daughter Sydney. Em is their waitress when they go to breakfast and he finally notices her. He leaves Em his phone number. Will she work up the nerve to use it?
I adored Em and Ash’s relationship but I must say that Sydney stole the show. I hope we get to see their characters again in future books.
If you are looking for a sweet single dad read than Inflame is perfect for you.
Ash is a single parent to his very adorable daughter Sydney. He is not only a single parent, but a firefighter. Lately he feels like something is missing. He is a very active parent, and it made me go week in the knees just how involved he is. Every little girl needs a daddy like that in their lives.
Emma is someone who works at the diner Ash and Syd frequent. She has had a crush on Ash since they were in high school. Ash shows Emma the support she needs to do what she really wants to in her life. What starts out as friendship slow burns into something that both Ash and Emma need.
Great book!! Ash and Emma knew each other in high school, but ran in different circles. Emma always crushed on him, and years later after his divorce they still run into each other in their small town. As fate intervienes on a snow day, Ash takes his daughter to the diner Emma works at. Their flirty banter leads to a date. The characters are great, and the story was fun to read. Another great book by Laramie Briscoe!!
Lighthearted, quick and simple but written in a manner that keeps you interested and engaged in the outcome. Ash and his daughter Syd are a very sweet team, when he adds Emma to their duo, they quickly become a perfect trio.

Inflame is delivered with the signature steamy swooning of Laramie Briscoe’s writing. Sexy and sweet, this firefighting single dad was exactly what I was wanting to read, exactly when I needed it most.
While I wouldn’t say it’s a book that will stay with me forever, I was instantly hooked and I love the message of second chances, of true kindness and good people getting what they deserve and worked hard for.
And there’s the added bonus that it’s guaranteed to heat up both you and your kindle with this explosive duo. Perfect for a Sunday of reading under a fluffy blanket to battle the spring chill!
Inflame is a slow burn romance that will have the fire take hold as the passion ignites between Ash and Emma. This is a quick read that is action packed, full of heart and leaves you wanting more from the characters in this town. Bring on the next book in this series because I am hooked.
Inflame is book one in the Midnight Cove series and a great way to kick off a new series by this author. Who doesn’t love reading about single dad’s or firefighters? Ash is both and boy does he have a full plate on his shoulders, but this just goes to show you that there are some real great single dad’s out there. Sydney is such a sweet girl and smart for her age. You feel for her when it comes to the mother though and can only hope that what occurs is true to her word after all this time. Emma is always trying to hide who she truly is, but she steps outside of her comfort zone on a snowy day and this leads to some unexpected circumstances that she never imagined would come true. What I would like to say is fate is all about timing! It was not time back then for Emma and Ash who knew each other since high school. They were from two separate worlds, well okay they still are, but they are older now and look at life differently. A certain little girl was meant to be in the picture before it came to the now.
This book is a quick read, great way to start a new series and you can connect easily with these characters in this town. I cannot wait for the next book in this series and to see who it is. You get sweet, funny, some sad moments and great chemistry between Emma and Ash. Let’s not forget that the things that come out of Sydney’s mouth are just to cute or the firehouse moments that are hilarious. Once again Laramie has put out another awesome book that you don’t enjoy reading and falling in love with these characters.
This is a quick, steamy & sweet single dad story. Ash & Emma knew each other in school, but were in very different circles, so didn’t really hang out. As adults, there is an attraction on both sides, and finally the time is right for them to take a leap & see what those sparks mean.
Very well done story interwoven into the romance of these two of making a blended family work, forgiveness when things go awry, and raising a six-going-on-13-year old. Syd’s adorable!! Very enjoyable & quick read!! : )
What would you do if the guy you crushed on in high school left you his number on the table at the diner where you work? Would you take a chance to get the guy of your dreams? Emma has liked Ash for years but was too shy to notice that he was interested in her. So when the stars align, she goes for it. That moment could change three lives and maybe create a family?
Laramie Briscoe is a goddess! Her books are so well written, so emotional and character driven that you can see it all in your head like a movie. Ash is a seriously hot single dad firefighter who has done everything for his daughter. Now she is getting older and he can finally breath a little, take some time to be an adult. When Emma finally looks at him, talks to him, he cannot pass up this chance. It is like one long dream come true, like Sixteen Candles but without the teenage boy humor. This is the best start to a series about single parents and I can’t wait to meet more of these awesome characters! 6 stars for Inflame!

I love a good Laramie Briscoe book. Ash & Emma’s story might be short and sweet but it has all the elements of a good love story with a beautiful little Syd thrown in the mix.
Emma has had a crush on Ashford since high school. Too bad he was the quarterback of the high school team and dating the head cheerleader. Not to mention that Emma was just the smart kid behind the scenes with little friends and never could go outside of her comfort zone. Flash Forward to almost a decade later and you find Emma working as a waitress at Bridget’s and waiting on Ash and his daughter. However today is a different day because all those times that she is wanted to see if there was something there between them she could never embrace it. This day though it was up to Ash and he wasn’t about to let this opportunity go.
Ash needed to reach out and it was perfect timing for them both. As long as Syd was okay with the situation, that’s all that matters. These two will light a fire to the match in this slow burning love story.
4 STARS
This is the first book by Laramie Briscoe that I have read. I will be reading the other books in this series as they are released. I’m hooked.
This is the first book in the Midnight Cove series.
Who doesn’t like a great single dad/firefighter read? You get both with this one!
Ash has been divorced for five years. He also has custody of his six year old daughter, Syd.
He is an amazing dad to Syd. He’s put his life on hold for her.
Emma has always crushed on Ash. Since high school. She’s great. And with Ash’s help, she starts to make her dreams happen. She gets the confidence to do so.
This is a cute read.
No Drama.
Fast paced.
I didn’t like Courtney at first, but even she redeemed herself.
The beginning of a new series by Laramie Briscoe. A sweet story of Ash a single dad of a sassy 6 year old and Emma the girl from high school he overlooked. Ash’s daughter Sydney is adorable and wise beyond her years. Ash a hard working firefighter who is devoted to Sydney. Emma works at the diner that Ash and Sydney frequent. She is trying to discover her path career wise and as well as learning take a step out of her comfort zone.
I enjoyed the lightness of the book. Not a lot of angst. No bad guy. Just two realistic characters that find love. This seems to be a little of a softer side of Laramie’s work and I like it! I am looking forward to more from Midnight Cove.
I’m a huge fan of Laramie’s but this was story was good, not great.
I went in knowing that there wouldn’t be a lot of angst in this book but after reading it, I felt like maybe even a little bit of drama would have added dimension to the characters.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Ash and Em. And this sort of wasn’t insta-love because they knew each other in high school. But I would have like to read their connection fleshed out a little more.
Ash’s relationship with his daughter, Syd, was well done and I think Em is a nice fit in their family dynamic. I just wish we got a bigger sense of that.
3.5 Stars which rounds to 4 Stars.
This was cute and drama free story. I really liked everything about this story. Sometimes it’s nice to read a book without drama and angst. This was also a bit slow burn romance and it was nice to get to know these characters. Ash and Emma were so great for each other and Sydney were so cute.

Inflame (Midnight Cove Book 1) – What a great addition to the Laramie Briscoe library! This is such a sweet story of a single parent finding love! Ash and Sydney have such great chemistry from the first interaction to the end of the book. Great book with just enough heat. Highly recommend!
4.5 stars
Laramie Briscoe has quickly become one of my must reads when I want a romance that’s not filled with drama and Inflame was exactly what I was hoping it would be. This book gets this new series off to a great start.
Single dad Ash has spent the last six years putting his life on hold so he could concentrate on his daughter and his job as a fire fighter. Waitress Emma has had a crush on Ash since high school but they ran in different circles and so her crush went unrequited. Until a storm hits town and Ash finds himself at the diner, before he knows what he’s doing he’s already left his number for Emma.
This book was exactly what I was hoping for. The characters are really easy to like. The slow burn, the chemistry, the relationships between all the characters, not just the two main ones, they’re all done perfectly. I’m a huge fan of Laramie Briscoe and like with all her books I found this one really hard to put down. It’s the perfect book if you’re looking for an easy read romance and will have you hooked without you knowing it.
OMG this is the beginning of a kick arse series by Laramie. I loved every moment of this story and it was slow and burning and when they got together they were AMAZING!
Ash is a single dad and a fire fighter. He lives his life for his daughter and his job but he is getting lonely and wants to share his life with someone. He knows that someone he wants to spend his time with but whenever he flirts with her she doesn’t flirt back.
Then one snowy day changes everything because Ash and his daughter have a disaster in the kitchen and end up at the diner where he flirts with Emma the waitress and she actually flirts back. He is so shocked it takes him a few minutes to get his bearings but once he does he asks Emma on a date and she agrees to go out with him and he is totally blown away by this.
As one date turns into many they will have to decide if they are going to go the long haul or they are just going to remain friends.
Inflame is a very good introduction to Laramie Briscoe’s new Midnight Cove Series. The novella was a really engaging and sweet story that has the feels and the heat that will keep you hooked from the start.
The first book is about Ash and Emma. Ash is a super sexy firefighter and single dad to a adorable little girl. He went thru a really rough divorce and doesn’t think he’s ready to date but that all changes with Emma. Emma had a crush on Ash in school and even now, presently, still has feelings for him that are pretty strong. The chemistry and connection between these two is intense and beautiful. I liked how there really wasn’t any ow/om issues. It was a great introduction to a new series. Ash and Emma had their own issues and starting a new romance is what made this book so deliciously great. There were a few minor wrinkles that had me wishing that it was more ironed out or explained better which involved Ash’s ex wife. But overall, great read.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
Another great read from Laraime Briscoe! My only complaint was that it was too short! I wished the story had been longer as to develop the characters backstories and situations within the storyline. Ash and Emma know of each other from high school, and over the years Ash has become a single father with his child Sydney having a convenient mother. Emma has had a crush on Ash since high school, and on an off and unexpected day, she takes her chance. Ironically, Ash does the same and this becomes the start of their relationship. I really liked that Laramie showcased how a single parent navigates a convenient parent, especially from the male perspective. I also really enjoy the character of Emma, who at 26 doesn’t have her life figured out yet and it be acceptable, which is becoming more common than not with people that age. Overall great read and I can’t wait for the next installment!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Ash is the hot firefighter single dad to Emma that just about every single mom wants. Ash had decided though long ago that’s not what he wanted for his daughter. He’s an awesome dad and everyone thinks that and will tell him that if he would listen.
Emma had a crush on Ash in school and not much has changed. She still thinks he’s hot and the way that he is with Emma just melts her heart. She’s in love with little Emma who is an old soul. I love little Emma!!
When Ash takes a chance and Emma takes a chance too they’re super cute together. I did think that they fell in love pretty (ok, REALLY) quick. I loved the camaraderie and family feeling that the firefighters have and can’t wait to see their stories.
