From a USA Today Bestseller comes a new series about single parents! Single-DadFirefighterSince my divorce five years ago, these are the two labels I’ve identified with. Now, I’m ready for more. Ready to give dating a shot, even with an eight-year-old daughter and twenty-four hour shifts needing my attention. When Sydney has a snow-day and we have an epic malfunction in the kitchen, we decide to … in the kitchen, we decide to head to the breakfast joint we’ve frequented for years.
Except today something is different.
Our normal waitress, Emma, isn’t all baggy clothes and ducking her head to keep me from seeing her face. Today? Today I feel like I see her for the first time, and damned if our gazes don’t ignite a heat I’ve only felt while on the job.

Inflame is book one in the Midnight Cove series written by the amazing and talented Laramie Briscoe. Don’t miss out and go one click this book!!!This is a captivating sweet story, full of great characters, emotion and romance. I absolutely loved this book and every moment of Emma and Ash story.
This is a great start to a new series and I can’t wait for the next book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Looking for a hot, steamy, single parent, quick read? Then look no further. This had steam and sexiness pouring out of this from the get go…
Ms. Briscoe is a instant ONE CLICK for me… A must read. You won’t be disappointed!
This story has great beginning. Happy cheesy ending (which I love). Just the middle was a bit rushed for my taste. I love books where you watch the, grow together. Experience it all together. And this book had great potential. Just didn’t get there for me.
Acquaintances to friends to lovers worked well in this sweet, almost gentle romance. Ash was a single dad who focused on his job, and the daughter he loved. Sydney was older so he felt okay with throwing his hat into the dating game again. Especially when he saw Emma in a new light. Em is surprised to find that not only does Ash seem to be flirting with her, she is pretty good at flirting right back. This was a slow burn romance which I appreciate given that Ash is a single dad and his daughter comes first, but I also think it was more than that. They enjoyed each other’s company outside of the bedroom, they were both feeling like what they had was important, and they were willing not to rush things just for the sake of sex.
I cannot wait for more from this series. I do love reading a single dad romance and this one was hot!!! Single dad firefighter who puts his daughter first in all things. Loved Sydney she was just adorable. Emma and Ash are perfect together now that he finally sees her. This was a Single Dad, Hot Firefighter and second chance romance all in one. Highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to see what Laramie Briscoe brings me next in this series.
Amazing new story by Laramie!!! A single dad getting a second chance at love. Yeah, nothing hotter or better. The connection all these characters have is amazing and can’t wait to read more!!!
What another amazing book by Laramie Briscoe. It is full of laughter, life situations and love.
You can’t help but love all the characters. Even the ones who not main character.
I loved Ash, he is hardworking, great father and has a great head on his shoulders. He loves his daughter Syd with all his heart.
I loved Emma, she is shy, self conscious and a hard working. But she comes out of her shell.
I really enjoyed this book, and highly recommend it.
A beautifully written, single dad romance. Ash and Emma had amazing chemistry, they cultivated a friendship that took my breath away. Ash was so sweet, and Emma adorable. This story was fast paced, but wonderful. I enjoyed every moment of this story.
I swear I devour everything Laramie Briscoe writes! She is one of my go-to authors and has been for a while now! Ash and Emma had me from the very beginning and did not let me go! Single dad stories have always been one of my favorite troupes, and Inflame is the best of the best! Five Stars will never be enough for this one!
Inflame is a great way to break into Midnight Cove Novellas. Emma and Ash have a quiet yet insanely intense relationship that is built on trust, compromise, understanding and balance. As a single parent Ash has had to learn to juggle many things in life. Leaning on his family for help, Ash is able to continue being a firefighter and the primary caregiver for his daughter. Emma is returning home and helping out at the cafe while making some pretty heavy life decisions.
Boldly moving out of her comfort zone Emma finds herself exactly where shes wanted to be for so long, on a date with Ash. Already half in love with Ashs’ daughter, Sydney, the couple quickly becomes a trio. Sydney really grabs the readers heart right from the start, Ash already has readers pulling for him and hoping he finds the right girl. And Emma is as sweet as they come, the quiet, shy girl who finally reached out to take hold of what she wanted. The characters are well developed characters who have blue collar backgrounds, making them more realistic, more relatable. I love how Laramie’s characters all found a way to be a team in the end, I disliked a few characters in the start of the novella, by the end I felt like they all matured and were really pulling it together for the sake of Sydney and the sake of being adults.
I could strong recommend Inflame to any romance reader looking for a quick, intense happily-ever-after.
A new series by one of my favorite authors?! Yes please! Especially a single dad romance! Bring it on!
It’s not instalove but amazingly easy love.
My favorite part is how Emma always puts Ash’s daughter Syd first. She even thinks about her first.
I can’t wait until we seem more from these characters!
Let me start by saying I absolutely love Laramie Briscoe and usually adore all her books. This one however fell a little short for me. I loved the concept, always a fan of a single parent finding a HEA, but the characters themselves felt a little lacking. IT was a very slow burn kind of story and while thats not something that usually bothers me, it didn’t feel necessary in this store, or at least i felt it could have gone a little faster pace.
Ash is a single dad to adorable Sydney. He puts his kid first and works hard to be both parents. He has a very demanding job as a firefighter that takes a lot out of him and still manages to get wake up after almost no sleep and be the best dad he can.
Emma is a waitress with a side business doing cupcake designs. She is really … lackluster I guess. she remembers Ash from high school and he was the typical jock that she had/has a crush on.
The story wasn’t bad it just didn’t hit it out of the park for me but I feel like thats just a personal hang up on the pace of the story. Would still recommend reading it.
Ash and Emma went to high school together but were in different circles, Ash was you typical jock and Em was the shy quiet girl that nobody saw! Fast forward years down the road and Ash is a single dad to the cutest and funniest 5 year old and his ex-wife isn’t in their lives while Em is working st the local diner trying to figure out what she wants to do in life . Em has had a crush on Ash since high school and one morning he leaves his number on the table as he and Sydney are leaving… let’s jist say the rest is a sweet little journey that you don’t want to miss!!!!
Ash spent the last 5 years focused on his career and raising his daughter. He went at the local diner with his daughter Sydney for dinner, he saw his waitress Emma in a different light and decided to leave his phone number.
It turned out that Emma has a crush on Ash since high school, but Ash had a girlfriend at the time (and then his 1st wife).
After a few dates, they worked their way to a happy ever after.
Another great start to another great series by Laramie
What an awesome new series!! Single Firefighter dad making on his owm with help just his patents & few friends until he finds Emma local waitress/libarian crushing on her high school crush.. i loved the story. Cant wait to see whos next in the series. Laramies writing has grown over the last year. She pulls you into the story & you find your self rooting for the Hero in the story.
Inflame is the first book in the Midnight Cove Series. It was a quick, easy to follow, sweet, abit of angst, single dad story. Ash is a firefighter, single dad to Sydney, he always puts her needs first, but lately he’s wishing he had someone to spend his life with. Emma went to school with Ash, and secretly had a crush on him. Will they take a chance? Good start to the series looking forward to the next story.
I was hooked on Inflame pretty much from the get go. This was a great start to the Midnight Cove series and I’m looking forward to future books.
I loved Ash and his relationship with Sydney, she was a sweetheart and it wasn’t hard to find her adorable! Everything he did was with his daughter in mind, even when it pained him when he had to deal with his cheating ex when she decided to pop back into their lives.
Emma was lovely and the perfect girl for the single dad. Never once did she resent his daughter or expect to be put first, she was as invested in Sydney as Ash was! Watching them get to know each other and how their relationship developed was sweet.
Low on angst, this was a really easy, engaging read that I powered through in less than a day ‘cos I couldn’t put my kindle down – I just wanted to see how things went for this couple.
A solid 4* read and I’m sure this is gonna be another favourite series from Laramie Briscoe
This was the first of the Midnight Cove Novella series, and Laramie Briscoe did not disappoint. It might have been a shorter story in length, but it was not missing a thing, and definitely did not feel rushed at any point. This is a story about single dad Ash, his daughter Sydney, and Emma. Ash and Emma knew each other in high school, but Ash was dating his high school sweetheart, Sydney’s mom and only had eyes for her… unfortunately he realized no long after Sydney came that her mom was NOT the woman he would be spending the rest of his life with. He raises Sydney pretty much on his own, with some help from family while working at the local fire department. It realistically shows you how hard it can be for a single parent to raise a child, work a demanding job, and have time for dating. Due to circumstances that changed plans for the day, Ash and Sydney end up at the diner where Emma works and Emma and Ash begin to see something different in each other that day. It was a sweet love story, with a HEA for everyone. I am looking forward to the next novellas in the series!
Laramie Briscoe presents us again with a fascinating story and series!
Ash is a single father of a 6-year-old girl, Sydney, as well as a firefighter. His life comes down to work and take care of his daughter.
When on a snowy day they end up in the restaurant where Emma works, things are different, since Emma decides to act in the crush she has in Ash since high school.
They allow themselves to know each other better and the chemistry between them is fantastic!
When Ash’s ex-wife returned to town, I thought it would be a problem for his relationship with Emma, but her reaction surprised me.
This is an interesting and quick to read story, with moments of fun, drama, hot sex and lots of love.
I loved the story and the characters. I recommend the reading.
I’m going to start off by saying that I love this authors books. They are enjoyable and I loved the sound of this book. The whole single dad aspect is one of my favorite themes and Ash was an amazing dad to Syd. Add in Emma being a sweetheart, and the addition to very low drama, it was great pieces to an awesome story.
My issue is that the whole thing felt super rushed. I don’t want to go into too many detail because it could be spoilers, but I just feel like things progressed really fast. I loved the overall story, don’t get me wrong, I just…… felt that the pace of the story was way too fast. That’s the only way to describe it.
So while I loved the characters and the story was good, I am giving it three stars. That doesn’t mean that it’s a bad book, it just means that I felt it could use some improvement. I will still read all this authors books because like I said, I am a huge fan of her work, this one just didn’t work for me as much as I hoped. 3 stars #2OCCJD
