Let the End…Try the Man.
Battle lines have been drawn, and forces have been gathered. But are Cas, Evie and the rest of the crew of the USCS Tempest ready to engage the deadliest enemy they’ve ever had to face? The Athru came into Coalition space, wiped out humanity and disassembled the once-great galactic empire piece by piece. But why? What lies behind this obsessive need to destroy humanity? why? What lies behind this obsessive need to destroy humanity?
While Evie fights to find out, Cas is done playing games. Now that he has the power of the Sil behind him, he’s ready to take the fight to the enemy. But Commander Sesster is getting worse by the day, and if they don’t do something soon, he won’t survive. And as Evie takes it upon herself to obtain what could be a crucial piece of intel about the Athru, she discovers secrets she never could have imagined.
The crew has faced many obstacles together, but this will be their greatest challenge yet. Cas made a promise to protect all those under his command, and that’s exactly what he’s going to do, even if it ends up killing him.

I wanted a finale that would blow my mind. Did I get that? You bet, I did. With bells on!
This was such an emotional book for me. Not only because it was the last in the series, but also because I didn’t want it to end. Ever. These characters were my friends. I know them well. I have grown older alongside them, and I want the best for them. The amount of hankies I went through, I should have shares in Kleenex. The reader finds out the why’s and wherefores of the Athru’s hatred for humankind. The parts with Sesster just had my heart in my mouth.
It’s a cracker of a book. Great series, excellent storyline, riveting characterisations, fantastic ending. Enjoy!
I chose this book from a selection, which I then voluntarily read and honestly reviewed. All opinions are my own.
“Our history is not our Destiny.”
– Alan Cohen.
“A species who will go out into the universe full of arrogance and superiority will eventually lead to destruction.”
A fabulous and fascinating series!!
Is it unconscionable to respond and retaliate the same way as the enemy, with genocide? Wouldn’t that make us as evil as them? The moral and ethical debates are highlighted throughout this series, an inner conflict between right and wrong, justice and revenge/vengeance. The intensity of these novels ramps up almost immediately and barely leaves you time to catch your breath as the story hurtles forward. A twisted journey that forces the protagonists to reassess their own ideologies and their relationships with one another. They are forced to confront their fears, their failings and the rapidly growing consequences of their mental vulnerabilities, shame, guilt..Written with gemlike precision and marked by a sly sense of humor, this premise brings an end to a fantastic trip. The pacing is excellent, as are the action sequences. Eric Warren’s descriptive writing style paints a vivid canvas of colourful and creative images for the reader, with dramatic contrasts of light and shadows throughout the series. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions, a load of anxiety provoked by numerous twists at every page turn, it’s been a long time I have been through such myriads of feelings, loss, desolation, despair..and, as my dear friend Mandy accurately said: “He(author) built the roller coaster and pushed you off on the ride!”I’m going to miss this series, one which as Foundation of Asimov, is worth a re-read! Congratulations, Eric Warren!!
Received as an ARC, this is an honest review. With their backs to the wall, the Athru are about to achieve their ultimate goal of annihilating humanity forever. But that’s not the only problem: Sesster’s condition is critical and the crew of the Tempest risk it all to get to his home world of Claxia Prime and the last hope to save him. They however fall into a hornets nest of hell brought about by the very man who once had burned Caspian’s career, now acting as an ally. The dangerous agendas and games lead Evie and her mom Esterva to be captured by the Athru and taken aboard a massive ship. I t is aboard that will begin a desperate gambit to save the crew and destroy the Athru once and for all. For Evie and Caspian, even if they succeed, their actions will reverberate throughout the heart of the Coalition and beyond.
The epic end the Infinity’s End series, delivers its most powerful drama, action, tears and laughter; a mind blowing adventure you’ll want to read again and again. Highly recommended.
Received as an ARC (2021), this is an honest review. This could be it for the crew of the Tempest, with their backs to the wall and the the Athru about to achieve their ultimate goal- what hope is left? When they encounter a ship from what had been the Coalition: Caspian is left speechless to find himself enduring shadows of the past, his career burned by the very man that claims to have the answer of how to destroy the Athru once and for good. Being drawn into dangerous agendas and games that could claim the lives of the crew if they can’t unwind the truth of the help their supposed ally has offered. Among all of that chaos, the mystery of how to save Sesster may finally have a clue: his home world- Claxia Prime and into a hornets nest of hell when Evie and Esterva are captured and taken aboard a massive Athru ship. Here Evie meets Dulthar- and finally learns exactly why the Athru are so determined to annihilate the human race; the shocking revelation will only harden her resolve to end their existence. Even the alliance with the Sil may not be enough to defeat their dark enemy. With all other options exhausted, their final gambit is an desperate act that even if they succeed, will forever reverberate across the heart of the Coalition itself and beyond.
The epic end to the Infinity’s End series delivers its most powerful drama, action, tears and laughter; a mind blowing adventure you’ll want to read again and again. Highly recommended.
